Chapter 1311 Go and Visit Her
Chapter 1311 Go and Visit Her
After hearing what Qiao Mei said, Li Gui's mood did improve a little, but it continued to weigh on her conscience.
"Qiao Mei, do you still have any more of that medicinal wine at home? Why don't you send some to her so that she can feel better. Otherwise, I feel really bad," Li Gui said.
If it was up to Qiao Mei, she would never give Liang Shu the medicinal wine. Liang Shu deserved what she got and it was no one else's fault.
However, if Liang Shu continued to be ill, then Li Gui and Qiao Qiang would feel bad about it every day. Qiao Mei was a little hesitant about what to do next.
"I'll think about it again. Miao Miao, stay with Mom. I'll go and take a look at Grandfather first," Qiao Mei said calmly.
Qiao Qiang was sitting on a rocking chair in the backyard, basking in the sun. Ever since Liang Shu came to cause trouble, he had not left the house. He still felt a little uncomfortable. Everyone out there would be in a good mood since it was the Spring Festival, but he had only bad luck written all over his face. If others saw this, they would be unhappy with him!
"Grandfather, I'm back," Qiao Mei said gently as she came to Qiao Qiang's side.
"I have expected you to stay at your mother-in-law's place for a few more days. Why are you back so early? Xia Zhe must have come back with you too," Qiao Qiang asked curiously.
"There are too many people over there and the children are not used to it, so my mother-in-law asks us to come back first. Grandfather, are you feeling alright?" Qiao Mei asked worriedly.
Qiao Qiang laughed lightly and said, "Oh, so you already know everything. I'm already so old, there's nothing for me to worry about. It's just that Liang Shu seems to have fallen ill and I don't know what to do."
At the end of the day, Liang Shu was still his ex-wife. Even if there was an unresolvable conflict between them, it was not to the extent that he wished that she would die. It was true that Liang Shu already had an underlying medical condition, but if she had not gotten so agitated at their place, her illness would not have suddenly acted up.
No matter what, this entire episode still had something to do with them.
The reason why the Liang family had not come to ask for money yet was because they wanted Qiao Qiang and the rest to feel guilty. Then again, they were also too afraid to pay another visit.
"Grandfather, I'll go to the hospital to send her some medicinal wine. Then at least we will have done our part," Qiao Mei said.
"Are you willing to do so?" Qiao Qiang asked.
"As long as it makes you happy, I'm willing to do anything," Qiao Mei said.
"Then… then just give her a little bit. It doesn't need to be a lot. Just enough for her to be able to take care of herself," Qiao Qiang said with a sigh.
After Qiao Mei heard what Qiao Qiang said, she took out a small bottle of diluted 100-year-old ginseng juice and went to the hospital. Along the way, Qiao Mei kept imagining what Liang Shu would say to her, or how Liang Lan and the others would use this matter to threaten her. She had already thought of how to rebut Liang Shu, but when she saw Liang Shu in person, she could not bear to say anything.
Ever since Liang Shu fell ill, Liang Lan and Liang Guo had not come to visit her again. The nurses took care of her daily requirements, but the nurses also had to take care of other patients. Sometimes, it was a long wait before they were done at the other wards and they could find time to come to Liang Shu's ward to feed her or help her change her clothes.
Sometimes, even when Liang Shu soiled her pants, she could only bear with it for a long time until the nurses had time to come and help her wash up.
The amount of money which Liang Guo paid was only enough for Liang Shu's basic medical expenses. There was not enough to hire a caregiver at all.
Before Qiao Mei could speak, Liang Shu immediately made threatening gestures. No one could make out what she was saying, but she was very agitated. The nurse quickly brought Qiao Mei out of the ward and went in to comfort Liang Shu before coming out again to talk to Qiao Mei.
"Her mood is very unstable now and sometimes she beats and scolds us too, so it's best if you don't provoke her. If you need anything, you can just tell us. Are you her relative?" the nurse asked.
Relative? Perhaps in a sense, they were relatives not related by blood. However, Qiao Qiang had already cut ties with them, so technically there was no relationship between her and Liang Shu.
"No, I'm just here to visit her," Qiao Mei explained.
"Sigh… If you know how to contact her children, then try to get in touch with them. This old woman is quite pitiful. She's left alone in the hospital at such an old age. The money in her account is only enough to last for another 10 days. If her family members don't come and pay the fees after 10 days, then we can only contact the police and ask them to send Liang Shu home," the nurse said.
