Part Wolf

Chapter 437 - 437: The One Aileen Killed

Chapter 437 – 437: The One Aileen Killed

The woman scowled, placing her hand over her hips as she leaned towards the struggling wolf on the floor. The irritation on her face was unmistakable.

"What are you doing?" She asked, gripping Vera's stretched fingers tightly together. The glint in her eyes as she saw the wolf bite through her pain was that of a killer. "You know that you should not be here now. William will be here any moment."

"P-please." Vera stuttered, struggling with her own beast that was destroying her own body in an effort to desperately flee from the magic that was coursing through her veins.

Luna watched the exchange with amusement. The right corner of her lips stretched upwards to form a smirk as she shook her head in recognition. There was no way that she was mistaken about this. There was only one woman whose name was the same as the witch standing in front of the wolf, who could manage to pull such a trick on an entire pack.

"Circe." She whispered, leaning in to tap the image of the radiant woman in the mirror. "No wonder the spell array was so powerful. I found your minion, Baraz."

The goddess let out a small laugh, happy that she had made good use of her gut feeling. If she hadn't taken the risk tonight, then she wouldn't have been able to witness this groundbreaking secret of the two women. It was obvious that Vera was depending on the woman to barely stay alive. But what was in it for the witch? She wondered.

'That's her!' The Dam Sehlah exclaimed, finally making a connection. It quickly projected a grainy memory of a pale tall witch clad in black, putting Alpha Li and his daughter in their places with just one look. 'The one Aileen killed!'

Luna nodded in agreement, tapping her own head approvingly. "Will be killing, my dearest stone.'  She said, baring her teeth as her smile widened. 'The Sisters of Night have yet to make a name for themselves. She has centuries to go till her death."

The stones fell silent again, probably trying to make sense of the event unfolding before them. The goddess turned her attention back to the screen as she heard an irritated grunt. She was curious as to how the old crone in her memories looked like in her younger days. She was waiting for the illusion to fall apart.

"What a nuisance!" The witch exclaimed, her voice consciously controlled as the woman quickly closed the door behind her.

Reaching out to the wooden cupboard, she took out a dagger from the top drawer box, closing it shut with a bang. Whispering something under her breath, the witch stepped towards the shivering pale woman with a determined look. Fear flashed in the wolf's eyes as she watched the wet woman bend down on her knees, hovering over her face with a murderous intent in her eyes.

'Master! Is she going to kill the wolf?!'

"Let's wait and see," Luna said, her brows scrunching in displeasure.

Not that she had any soft corner to Vera as a person. As the one who had painstakingly created life on the once dead planet, it was hard watching the effort go down the drain. Although it would be one less trouble breathing down her neck, she didn't want to see the woman die.

The next moment, the witch brought down the dagger, raising her other hand over the wolf's mouth. As the blade cut through her skin, the woman hissed, sliding the dagger away from her wound before tipping the flowing blood towards the sick wolf on the floor.

Luna watched as Vera's eyes flashed a yellow, glowing in the dark of the night. Her fangs elongated, pushing out of her mouth as she felt the taste of the almost black liquid that was now dripping onto her parched lips. A low grunt escaped her chest as she grabbed the witch's hand and latched onto it with her fangs hungrily.

With each gulp, Vera grew stronger, the beast inside her slowly getting subdued. The claw marks started to fade, and the luster returned to her long silvery blonde hair. Her seizures were dying down as time passed. The witch's illusion was fading along with it. The color of her hair darkened, almost to a dead black before fading into a lighter brown.

Her form elongated until she was sitting a few inches taller and her eyes turning into a shade of the darkest void. A pair of delicate pink lips curled into a frown as the witch withdrew her hand from the hungry wolf in irritation, waving her right hand over her wound, closing it with a spell.

Luna stared at the delicate woman with awe. She was breathtakingly beautiful, even for the standards of a dark witch. It could only mean one thing. Her deeds had not started to take their toll on her yet, she thought, her mind filling with possibilities.

"Thank you," Vera said, rising to her feet.

Circe gritted her teeth, ignoring the fully recovered wolf standing before her. She put the dagger back into the cupboard, not bothering to wipe the blood off of it. She had barely stepped back when her eyes shot towards the window as if sensing something. Luna raised her brows as the witch stepped towards the opening, her pitch-black eyes staring right into the mirror.

The goddess stepped back, a frown pulling down the corners of her mouth. Impossible! it was impossible for anyone to find it out. The ones outside the Golden Palace hadn't even heard of her ability to mirror the moonlight, let alone the earthlings. But her heart skipped a beat nonetheless, panic flooding into her system. The next few words that slipped out of the witch's mouth relieved her.

Circe turned towards Vera, her eyes wide with worry. "Go. He's here." She said, pointing towards the window. "If not today, you won't be able to get him."
