A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 124 - Sweep Across Five Areas (8)

Chapter 124: Sweep Across Five Areas (8)

Crossing a spacious and empty region of black soil, Glenn and Claytia arrived and settled on a stone pillar at the border of the 11th District.

“There is a chain mark fluctuation worth around 2000 points over there!” Claytia appeared somewhat startled. A two-thousand mark fluctuation was a very high number because as long as one had a chain mark with these waves, even if they immediately left the Secret Mirror, an imprint worth one-thousand points was sufficient enough to qualify to be a reserve Demon-Hunter.

Two-thousand?

Glenn did not hesitate and flew in the direction Claytia was pointing toward. Behind him, a Claytia who was internally a bit excited followed at his heels.

In these days Claytia followed behind Glenn, she had witnessed this student basically being unrivaled the entire journey, sweeping away all students’ resistance before him. This kind of invincibility which pushed everything down with terrible might had already deeply captivated Claytia. So much so that she viewed Glenn as an idol in her heart.

She really did not know. Did this area have some kind of enemy worthy of this guy taking action?

Or would it be the same as before where he would directly sweep past the entire way?

However, Glenn, who was flying ahead, was employing his farsighted thinking to ponder a different issue. This profound topic was absolutely not something an ordinary student would consider.

Within the various areas were all students of the dark sorcerer faction. Yet, because the hierarchy of the most excellent students was different and contradictory, the internal regional characteristic reflected this difference.

For example…

Glenn belonged to the 12th District. On account of the existence of others such as Althio and Mille—including possible influence from some high-ranking sorcerers—while they were formidable, they had very little impact regarding the relatively weaker students. Thus, the 12th District students were in an ideal situation for development. On the whole, Glenn, who was eager to excel far ahead and smash his way through three more areas, seemed to have been born for the Holy Tower method of the sorcerer world!

Hill Woods had belonged to the 15th District. On account of Hill Woods’ absolute domination, no student from the entire district had dared to call themselves the second strongest. While such an area would look as if it were formidable from an outside point of view, it was actually extremely weak internally. It really resembled those Empiric Worlds[1] that had a Necromancer-level life form existing amongst the “weak.”

The 13th District had suffered a catastrophe, leading to not having a top-notch student appear at all. Then Hill Woods had opportunistically swept across the place effortlessly before getting swept away by Glenn himself. This kind of area, looking at it in a certain way, was just like the present sorcerer world which was “expelled” by that unknown formidable civilization from the coordinates of their former inexhaustible world. They were faced with the most desperate situation!

(Not speaking in hyperbole but the sorcerer civilization is still very powerful—only the original formidable civilization’s fighting had “stronger potential” from general civilizations. Glenn, for a Sorcerer-Apprentice, has insightful speculations but didn’t sufficiently understand civilizations’ first-rate strength model. As for why stronger potential, it will be understood following the fifth volume.)

Talking about the 14th District, owing to the legendary student Wicky’s sorcery naturally having a flaw, it seemed awfully strong but at the same time possessed a fatal weak point. This sort of circumstance had Glenn very rapidly associate it with the peaceful coexistence within an area ruled by a sorcerer culture kind of Empiric world. One that also possessed a world tree!

The current matters of the conflict among districts…

Was it or was it not “reducing the pages” that made up the difference of world strength from the inexhaustible world?

Of course, Glenn already knew. Due to the laws of the worlds, many worlds were different from the sorcerer world. Local life form also had different development models for their culture. As a result, until achieving the unlimited possibilities of the inexhaustible world, different civilizations wanted to explore the weak worlds surrounding them. They had a longing to conquer and plunder!

In that case, in what manner was this 11th District structured like?

*Shu! Shu!*

Glenn didn’t waste too much time under these circumstances and easily deported a student with around 300 points midway. Soon after, he flew toward the student who had reached two-thousand points.

‘What?’

Halfway there, Claytia let out a small sound of surprise. “There’s a student with around 1300 points five kilometers that way.”

Glenn froze!

What’s going on with this district? Could it be that the legendary student didn’t plunder all the points in their own district and left right away? Actually leaving behind so many students with such abundant points!

This district seemed to be playing a tune of its own!

Thinking this, Glenn hardly paused before rushing in the direction of the student with two-thousand points. Deporting students with more points first was Glenn’s modus operandi.

Hm?

Upon finding the target, Glenn was astonished.

On the ground, a male student wearing a purple mask appeared before Glenn’s eyes, garbed in loose gray robes and a magic staff inlaid with a green gem at the top in his hand. However, these details were secondary. The main detail was the several living creatures besides this student…

Was this student actually the same as Robin and also studied foreign lifeform Agreement Invoke Sorcery?

This student rode on top of a 3-to-4 meter long, huge toad with countless pale-red poisonous lumps on its body which made Glenn immediately recall Primal Curse Althio. There was a two-meters tall ox-headed ape seemingly of an intelligent species which had a pair of curved horns apparently layered with wind element energy, holding a thick, black set of chains in its hands. Additionally, there was a densely-packed swarm of several hundred green insects with every strange insect all having the powerful forelimbs of a mantis and a huge mouth like a primitive organism.

“12th District students? How come I haven’t come across you two?” After the purple-masked student on the ground caught sight of Claytia’s chain mark on her forehead, he asked in slight shock but wasn’t too scared.

“Oh? You are also a student from the 12th?” He stopped his original intention to attack Glenn and drew closer to ask interestedly.

Claytia, however, seemed to recall something and exclaimed, “Stigmata Key Dewey!”

Following which, Claytia whispered to Glenn, “Glenn, Dewey is inherently extremely powerful but also possesses a Stigmata Friendship Key. He is a Sorcerer-Apprentice who neither Ice Age Mille nor Primal Curse Althio were willing to provoke.”

Stigmata Friendship Key?

Glenn was a bit startled. The only ones he knew that had a Stigmata Friendship Key was Lafite and himself and didn’t imagine this Dewey also possessed one. Only, Lafite’s Friendship Key was the kind which was treated as a currency used in transactions among Stigmata Sorcerers. Lafite, in a risky venture, had obtained it by chance. Meanwhile, Glenn’s Key was classified as something personally bestowed by a Stigmata Sorcerer—the grade of familiars the two could call forth was different.

Presumably, this Dewey’s Stigmata Friendship Key ought to be the same as Lafite’s.

However, even if that was so, regarding this student that had a Stigmata Friendship Key, he was nonetheless incapable of being a threat in qualifying for the top reward. This serendipitous meeting in this sort of alien land actually made Glenn feel a bit like he had bumped into a sorcerer in an unknown Foreign Land.

So Glenn’s thoughts of fighting became extinguished, and he serenely observed the other party.

Dewey, through the energy response from Glenn’s figure, had realized that Glenn’s power was quite frightening. Internally, he was panic-stricken over this 12th District guy who had popped up abruptly and felt even less inclined to fight.

While thinking, Dewey shouted, “Previously, I was wandering straight through the 15th District. A student called Bell-Sound Dictator Hill Woods had that place shrouded under his influence but I never ran into that legendary level Sorcerer-Apprentice. Later at the 14th, I ran into this area’s Lightwing Yerko Dar. Upon realizing this 11th District basically didn’t have a legendary student, I rushed here right away. And what about you two?”

This guy had actually run straight to Hill Woods’ area!

Glenn couldn’t help but sigh at this guy’s luck. If Hill Woods had actually bothered to clear out his own area and happened to run into Dewey, then only tears would have awaited Dewey.

In any case, having run into that Lightwing Yerko Dar, how did it come to be that the 11th didn’t have a legendary student?

Glenn voiced his inner doubts out loud.

Dewey shook his head. “No. He was still not at the level of possessing his own unique perspective of sorcery knowledge like a legendary ranked Sorcerer-Apprentice. Merely, his light element wings were very obscure. It may be assumed that he would not be able to do anything if a legendary student cornered him.”

Glenn thought it over. This Yerko Dar was presumably the kind of student similar to Black Isotta’s Bright Sword Ardas, right? Slightly stronger than the bottom tier of the Top Ten Experts but inferior to the second tier and only able to flee from legendary level students.

Of course, this Yerko Dar was a lot stronger compared to Dewey.

Glenn spoke, “So it’s like that… During our time in the 14th District, we indeed previously heard of a big battle between Earth Heart Wicky and a student that was an expert in the light element. Speaking of further back in the past, I ran into Claytia in the 12th District and planned to come out and rush about, only, we arrived at the other areas first. Oh, by the way, that powerful student from the 15th District fell in the 12th. If you want to temper yourself in the 15th, there shouldn’t be a problem.”

Dewey was amazed. “He fell! How is that possible? According to intelligence, that Hill Woods had supposedly killed a legendary student of their district by himself several decades ago. To unexpectedly still fall in the Holy Tower Tryouts, was it Mille or Althio who managed to do it?”

Glenn smiled and said no more. No longer paying attention to Dewey on the ground, he brought Claytia and flew in the direction of the recent response where a student with 1300 points was.

“You two must be careful! Although this area doesn’t have legendary level students, however…”

In the distance, Glenn and Claytia already could not hear Dewey’s voice.

Flying in the sky, Glenn’s heart stirred. As far as this area being like the inexhaustible world, was it the beginning or the end of that kind of Civilized World[2]?

However, for this area that didn’t have legendary students, faced with the nightmarish kind of student that was Glenn…
