Chapter 1209: Retreating Enemy

Chapter 1209: Retreating Enemy

The golden rain poured down upon the earth. When it landed, each drop created a black hole across the landscape. The holes were smooth, as though they had been punched by a sharp object.

Li Luo, Jiang Qing’e, and Li Hongyou were gathered together, doing their best to resist the rain. Their eyes were all focused upon the marching legion that was approaching them from the clouds. There were thousands of them, and their energies were fused together, as though they were utilizing a form of Harmony.

The only difference was that the energy undulations far surpassed those of the Twenty Banners by countless times.

“It’s the Dragon’s Fang Guardians!” Li Hongyou shouted in relief. They had held off the opponent for long enough and had managed to attract the attention of Heavenly Dragon Peak. The best part was that the one coming to assist them was none other than the Dragon’s Fang Guardians.

This was the true army that belonged to the Dragon’s Fang Lineage, so the trio could be said to be safe now.

Li Luo’s gaze narrowed as he observed the army that gave off a fierce aura. His heart trembled. This was the first time he was seeing the Dragon’s Fang Guardians in the flesh. They were the reason why the Dragon’s Fang Lineage was an indestructible existence.

His gaze focused on the front of the group, where he saw a robustly built man clad in black armor.

His dragon wings were flapping behind him. His expression was icy and solemn, resembling Li Jingzhe. In his hand was a dark-red halberd, the surface of which was filled with the scars of battle. This was truly a veteran of countless battles.

He cut a solitary figure, each breath like a dragon’s roar, causing the immense amount of condensed energy from the Dragon’s Fang Guardians to fluctuate.

An invisible sense of pressure could be felt from him despite the long distance.

In just this short moment, Li Luo understood who the black-armored individual with a halberd was.

Dragon’s Fang Guardians, Guardian General Li Foluo.

The man then cast his gaze towards the group, and he immediately asked them, “Who are you? Why are you attempting to fight before Heavenly Dragon Peak!?”

His voice resounded like thunder across the firmament.

He just happened to be training with the Dragon’s Fang Guardians in a field and had sensed the battle unfolding. Due to the proximity, he had rushed over to investigate.

At the same time, Li Foluo glanced into the distance where an even more shocking exchange was occurring. There seemed to be an eighth-grade Duke fighting as well.

Li Luo knew that he had to hurriedly declare his identity, so he swiftly took out the Green Nether Hall Master’s plaque. A green light shot forth from it towards Li Foluo.

“I am the Dragon’s Fang Lineage’s Green Nether Hall Master, Li Luo. Guardian General Li Foluo, hear my command, please slaughter these invaders. They are of unknown origin and have tried to intercept and kill us!” Li Luo shouted gravely.

Since he had not entered the Dragon’s Fang Guardians, he would have to use his identity as the Hall Master of the Green Nether Hall to explain things. Although the Dragon’s Fang Guardians did have high authority and were independent of the four halls, in terms of rank, the Hall Master position was higher than that of the Guardian General.

The situation was dire, so he had no choice.

When he heard Li Luo’s voice, a look of astonishment appeared on Li Foluo’s cold and stern face. “Green Nether Hall Master Li Luo?”

A commotion broke out behind him amongst the Dragon’s Fang Guardians as well.

An excited voice was transmitted into Li Foluo’s ears. “Guardian General, this is my Third Brother, the Dragon’s Head of the Twenty Banners! They are under attack. Hurry and rescue them!” Li Foluo’s gaze turned towards the source of the transmission, where he saw a pretty young woman with a high ponytail whom he recognized immediately.

“Li Fengyi.”

Although strength was king in the Dragon’s Fang Guardians and one’s personal status was unimportant, Li Fengyi was the Lineage Chief’s direct descendant. Thus, with her confirmation, he knew Li Luo was telling the truth.

“Li Luo? Does that mean he is Hall Master Li Taixuan’s son? The Third Young Master who returned from an outer divine continent?” Li Foluo’s gaze flickered. Although he had not been to Dragon’s Fang Mountain in two years, Li Luo’s achievements in the Twenty Banners had caused no small amount of disturbance within their circle. Furthermore, a group of elites from the Twenty Banners had recently entered the Dragon’s Fang Guardians and he had learned more from them.

When Li Foluo was young, he had heard of Li Taixuan’s exploits. Thus, he held a lot of admiration for the man. Now that Li Taixuan’s blood descendant had arrived, he would inevitably pay attention to him.

He pondered briefly before nodding lightly. His eyes welled up with killing intent as he glanced at the sixth-grade Duke chasing the trio. His cold voice shook the heavens and the earth.

“Unknown rats, you dare to kill the people of the Dragon’s Fang Lineage so close to Heavenly Dragon Peak? You’re clearly looking to die!”

Li Foluo took a step forward, and his heavy halberd lashed outwards, transforming into a titanic crimson dragon. It arced through the air, and a stream of dragonbreath poured down upon the Duke like infernal judgment from the skies.

The sixth-grade Duke’s expression turned gloomy. If it were merely Li Foluo, he would not have been worried. The opponent was merely a fourth-grade Duke after all. Unfortunately, with the Dragon’s Fang Guardians thrown into the mix, the result was not the same.

Their combined strength was equal to an eighth-grade Duke.

Although not all of the Dragon’s Fang Guardians were here, it was more than sufficient to deal with him.

This caused the Duke to feel bitter in his heart. He knew he had lost his best opportunity to act. With the Dragon’s Fang Guardians taking action now, it would only attract even more frightening experts from Heavenly Dragon Peak if things continued. It seemed their ambush had failed.

With this in mind, he lost all motivation to fight. Just as his six Duke Bergfrieds roared to life above him, the dragonbreath descended upon him like a flaming purgatory.

Bang!

Terrifying energy undulations were emitted in every direction.

The sixth-grade Duke looked up into the sky and roared loudly, his voice heard by all his companions.

The eighth-grade Duke who was facing off against Ox Biaobiao had naturally sensed the arrival of the Dragon’s Fang Guardians, and she angrily yelled, “Trash! A sixth-grade Duke failing to catch a group of juniors?”

Despite her frustration, she knew that this assassination and kidnapping had failed. Finding another opportunity like this was as difficult as ascending into the skies. All she could do now was hatefully glare at Ox Biaobiao, who was being suppressed by her. At this point, almost half his flesh and blood had melted away, revealing his thick, white bones. However, he remained unmoving like a boulder, fiercely staring back at her.

He had also noticed the appearance of the Dragon’s Fang Guardians, and a mocking smile surfaced on his face.

This smile that seemed to ridicule her caused Qin Lian to feel absolutely incensed. She slapped downwards, and burning resonant power that resembled magma slammed towards Ox Biaobiao’s melting body. At the same time, a fiery poison pervaded his bones.

“Qin Lian, is that you? Only you would act so madly and stupidly, unable to accomplish even a simple task,” Ox Biaobiao said calmly. Clearly, the leading figure would not retort to Ox Biaobiao’s probing words. Without much reaction, she waved her sleeves and her resonant power shot into the sky, causing all the smoke to vanish.

This was the signal to retreat.

Now that their attack had failed, staying behind would only lead to an encirclement by Heavenly Dragon Peak.

She transformed into a beam of light, escaping into the distance.

The Dukes who had tied down Li Rouyun and were facing off against Li Foluo immediately dropped everything they were doing and attempted to escape.

“You want to run? Leave one behind!” Li Foluo’s gaze turned ferocious and he formed a seal with a single hand. The halberd that had taken the form of a crimson dragon immediately transformed back into a weapon. It then pierced through the air, heavily crashing towards the Duke.

The Duke immediately directed his Duke Bergfrieds to form a defensive wall to protect him.

Bang!

The skies shook, and a deep scar was left on the six Duke Bergfrieds. Meanwhile, the Duke quickly waved his sleeve, looking to escape at all costs.

Unfortunately, an almost illusory figure explosively shot through the air at this point. It was a nail made of light. Its speed was immense and the light resonant power that flowed across its surface amplified its penetrating power. It viciously punched a hole on the sixth-grade Duke’s forehead.

The killing blow was too sudden, and this had happened right as Li Foluo had struck him as well. Thus, the nail had managed to pierce through his defenses.

The sixth-grade Duke spewed out a mouthful of fresh blood and roared in pain. He had no intention to remain behind any further. Borrowing the aid of his blood essence, he activated a secret art and transformed into a stream of bloody light that vanished into the distance.

In just a few breaths of time, he completely disappeared and any semblance of his aura was gone.

If it weren’t for the destroyed scenery that lay in ruins all around them, the battle would’ve felt like a mere trick of the mind.

Li Foluo raised his hand and his halberd returned to his grasp. After which, he glanced in surprise towards Li Luo’s position. There was a young lady floating in the sky. She had an incredibly beautiful and exquisite countenance that no one could match.

However, the dazzling and glazed Duke Bergfried above her was even more shocking than her beauty.

“What? A Ten-Pillar Duke Bergfried?!”

A commotion broke out yet again among the Dragon’s Fang Guardians. Their looks of utter surprise were focused on the ethereal beauty. A Ten-Pillar Duke Bergfried was, after all, rarely seen.

Who was she? Just when had such an unparalleled talent appeared in the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li? Countless questions arose within their hearts.
