Chapter 1264: The Secret Behind The Heavenly Dragon Blood
Chapter 1264: The Secret Behind The Heavenly Dragon Blood
Over the next few weeks, news of Li Luo and Jiang Qing’e’s stunning performance during the Ceremony of Ascent spread across the outside world. However, Li Luo kept a relatively low profile during this time. He was fully focused on cultivating his Thunder Dragon resonance.
Because of this, he didn’t even have time to take care of the monthly duties required from the Dragon’s Fang Guardians.
This lasted for the majority of the month. His cultivation had progressed and his Heavenly Resonance Diagram had increased from 84,000 feet to 88,000 feet.
Most of this was thanks to the 40,000 dragon essences that he had received from the bet.
He had used up 20,000 to repay the loan for his Dragon Blood Affliction Art. As for the remaining dragon essences, he had traded them in for cultivation resources and high-grade liquids and lights.
The good news was that his resonant power had taken a step forward. However, the much anticipated evolution of his dragon resonance wasn’t so easy to achieve.
He had already used up the majority of the eighth-grade spirit liquids and purifying lights that he had gotten from the Heavenly Origin Ancient College. When coupled with the high-grade liquids and lights that he had purchased with his dragon essences, the actual cost of what he had consumed was undoubtedly sky high. It was probably a figure that an ordinary rogue cultivator at the Duke Stage wouldn’t be able to afford even if they auctioned off all their belongings.
That said, Li Luo could sense that his upper seventh-grade Thunder Dragon resonance had grown stronger. Unfortunately, it was still quite a distance away from reaching the eighth-grade.
Trying to increase one’s resonance grade was a truly challenging task.
One should not forget that he could continuously refine and take in liquids and lights. If it were anyone else, it would be close to impossible for them to get any visible improvement in half a month’s time. Most people would take months, or even years, to temper their resonances. The spirit liquids and purifying lights contained impurities, and consuming too many at once would result in one’s resonant palaces being sealed off. Fortunately, Li Luo was different from ordinary folks. The only thing that restricted him was the number of liquids and lights he had and the time he would need to absorb them all. This meant that in theory, he would be able to reach the ninth-grade for all his resonances, given enough time and resources. Of course, being able to prove this theory wasn’t easy at all…
Light rays pierced into the room. Li Luo was sitting in the lotus position, staring at the table in front of him. There were a few empty glass bottles on it that were originally filled with valuable eighth-grade spirit liquids and purifying lights.
“All used up.”
Li Luo sighed. He had used up all that he had.
After thinking for a moment, a violet badge that resembled a leaf materialized in his hand. This was the Violet Resonant Tree Brooch, which he hadn’t taken out in a long while. By keeping this item close to him, it would have a slight resonant tempering effect which slowly accumulated over time. If he wasn’t satisfied with the slow progress, he could also activate the spirit deposit contained within. This would directly provide a boost to his resonance tempering but it came with the side effect of draining it completely and leaving it deactivated for a period of time.
Li Luo had only used the Violet Resonant Tree Brooch once in the past. As such, it had completely recovered its energy.
“Should I use the spirit deposit once more to raise my dragon resonance to the eighth-grade?” Li Luo pondered over it. In the end, he shook his head. The evolution he wanted was not something that could happen in one go.
He wanted to evolve his dragon resonance into a Heavenly Dragon resonance!
In other words, what he wanted wasn’t just an ordinary eighth-grade dragon resonance, but an eighth-grade Heavenly Dragon resonance!
The Heavenly Dragon resonance was the pinnacle of dragon resonances, as he had heard. Naturally, the requirements to obtain it were extremely harsh. His father was probably the only one in the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li to be born with one in the last hundred years or so.
That was already out of the story for Li Luo. Fortunately, the Heavenly Dragon blood in his body was extremely pure, so he still had a chance to acquire it even though he wasn’t born with it.
During this period of cultivation, he could sense his dragon resonance growing stronger. However, he had not gotten any feeling or hints on how he could evolve it.
Even if he managed to successfully elevate his dragon resonance to the eighth-grade, it would most likely be an ordinary dragon resonance. It wouldn’t change into a Heavenly Dragon resonance at this rate.
Li Luo suspected that the evolution wasn’t as simple to achieve as he had imagined.
Perhaps he would need to seek some advice from other people.
As for who, there was naturally only one obvious choice in Heavenly Dragon City. No one would be more suitable than Li Jingzhe. With that in mind, he stowed away the Violet Resonant Tree Brooch and left the Dragon’s Fang Guardians. He walked directly towards the Heavenly Dragon Pavilion in the center of Heavenly Dragon City.
This was where Li Jingzhe was situated whilst he stood guard over the city.
When Li Luo arrived at the Heavenly Dragon Pavilion, he revealed his identity. Naturally, there was no obstruction to his visit. After all, everyone knew in their hearts that so long as Li Jingzhe stood guard over Heavenly Dragon City, the Dragon’s Fang Lineage would be the one with the most say in town.
In the depths of the Heavenly Dragon Pavilion was a crystal clear lake. Li Luo found Li Jingzhe fishing on a stone platform beside the lake. Li Jingzhe had lost his favorite pastime of tending to the bamboo shoots after he left the bamboo forest of Dragon’s Fang Mountain. Thus, he had to find another way to pass the time.
When Li Luo approached, Li Jingzhe slowly opened his eyes. A smile appeared on his cold and serious face. He lightly tapped a basket full of fish next to him. “You came at just the right time. There are no bamboo shoots to eat here, but I can make some fish soup for you.”
“I’m in for a treat, then.”
Li Luo accepted it with a smile. He sat down beside Li Jingzhe and explained the purpose of his visit.
The fishing rod in Li Jingzhe’s hand trembled a little when he heard Li Luo’s words. “Heavenly Dragon resonance? You’re really an ambitious brat. Not even I managed to cultivate it.”
Li Luo explained to him honestly, “Well, Grandpa, I have exceptionally pure Heavenly Dragon blood. I believe I should qualify for a chance to obtain the Heavenly Dragon resonance.”
Li Jingzhe was a little amused by Li Luo’s bragging, but he still nodded. “Your Heavenly Dragon blood is indeed very pure. When you used the Dragon Blood Affliction Art previously, your blood was stimulated to the point that even the Heavenly Dragon Manifestation appeared.”
“The Heavenly Dragon Manifestation?”
Li Luo blinked and asked curiously. “Grandpa, come to think of it, why does our lineage have the blood of the Heavenly Dragon? Could it be that… our Ancestor is the Heavenly Dragon itself?”
Li Jingzhe shook his head and responded, “Our Ancestor is a human being.”
He could still see the undying curiosity in Li Luo’s eyes. He hesitated for a minute before he continued, “When our Ancestor was young, he entered the Nobles’ Battlefield and came across a critically injured Elder Heavenly Dragon then. That was when a human had the opportunity to form a blood pact with a dragon. To be honest, the blood pact wasn’t entirely good news for our Ancestor. The Heavenly Dragon was much stronger than him, so it would continuously absorb his blood essence. However, our Ancestor demonstrated why he was an exceptional genius who had survived countless life-and-death situations. When he reached the pinnacle of strength and attained the Heavenly Emperor Stage, the blood pact transferred over to his lineage. This affected his descendants and caused the Heavenly Dragon blood to flow within us as well.”
Li Luo’s eyes were wide. He was full of praise as he listened. It seemed like their Ancestor had also gone through numerous legendary adventures since he was young.
“I wonder, was the Heavenly Dragon that he met a male… or female?” Li Luo asked politely.
“A female dragon, of course,” Li Jingzhe replied.
“This Elder Heavenly Dragon is now one of the most authoritative existences amongst the whole Dragon Race. It is all thanks to her that the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li has such a close relationship with the Dragon Race. However, the Dragon Race seldom comes out, so you haven’t had the chance to meet them.”
At this point, Li Luo had a sudden realization. A female dragon, huh… Their Ancestor really served as a role model for future generations. However, this wasn’t important right now.
Li Luo shifted the topic of the conversation and asked earnestly, “Grandpa, do you think I have a chance to evolve my dragon resonance into a Heavenly Dragon resonance, then?”
Li Jingzhe pondered in silence for a moment. “If it were anyone else asking, I’d tell them to continue dreaming. But you, on the other hand, have demonstrated that you possess a strong affinity with the Heavenly Dragon blood. I think it may be possible. Nonetheless, this is not a simple matter. If you try to do it using normal methods, you will not be able to succeed no matter how pure your Heavenly Dragon blood is.”
“What should I do, then?” Li Luo asked in a hurry.
The fishing rod in Li Jingzhe’s hand shook a little again. He reeled in the line, and ripples scattered across the surface of the lake. A golden fish had been caught by his fishing rod. He placed the fish into the basket and said with a serious tone, “Refinement Art, Blood Refines the Resonance.”
