Chapter 1305: Descending Devil Tide
Chapter 1305: Descending Devil Tide
Whoo!
As the shrill alarm permeated the air, the five Guardian Generals on the Falling Star Terrace had solemn expressions on their faces as they watched the black meteors descend. The amount of corruption emanating from it was incredibly dense and enough to shock them.
Clearly the meteors that descended from the World End’s River contained frightening amounts of strong Others.
Li Foluo, Li Zhihuo, Li Tingyue and the rest rushed forward. The Five Guardian Armies immediately got into formation as majestic amounts of energy surged into the Guardian Generals. Although the Heavenly Dragon Peak was protected by the Golden Dragonscale Cloud Formation, they had to be prepared regardless.
Li Luo and Jiang Qing’e returned to the Dragon’s Fang Guardians as well. They curiously looked at the descending meteors. As the Falling Star Terrace was located high in the sky, they were also able to use it as a vantage point to see far into the distance. The black meteors were present everywhere and in a way, there was a twisted sense of beauty to it.
“What is going on?” Li Luo then asked Left Dragon Fang Envoy Luo Jiang.
Luo Jiang’s expression was heavy as he replied. “This is the Descending Devil Tide.”
“What is that?”
Luo Jiang nodded his head. “Before the Stygian Rain of Calamity arrives, the World End’s River won’t be calm either. It will turn turbulent and as its waves churn, some of the Others will be swept up and engulfed by the water of the river, turning into meteors which fall from the sky. In a way, it is akin to us refining World’s End River Meteors. The only difference is that the corruption from these black meteors is much more dense and terrifying. Furthermore, World’s End River Meteor would be purified by the Golden Dragonscale Cloud Formation and thus we only have to deal with remnant corruption. On the other hand, these black meteors are more like a prison break for the Others. This occurrence is known as the Descending Devil Tide. As they land within the World End’s River Region, it would incite the Others that are already here and cause Calamity Mist to form. This would then lead to chaos erupting within the region, making it much more dangerous. Moving on, the Five Guardian Armies’ key responsibility would be to get rid of all these descended Others. Otherwise some of our hunting grounds might be corrupted by their presence and our losses would be immense.”
Li Luo continued to look at the countless meteors that were plummeting to the ground. It reminded one of a scene from an apocalypse as his heart turned cold. He knew that the area would soon be rife with devilish creatures roaming and there would be countless strong Others that would continually emerge.
It was fortunate that the World End’s River Region was special as well. Everyone who was here had achieved some level of success in their cultivation and could not be considered to be weak. If something like this happened in the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent, large swathes of territory and the life within would undoubtedly be extinguished.
It would truly be an Other Disaster.
Li Luo had participated in the East Divine Continent’s Holy Grail Meet under Astral Sage College. When he had first witnessed the destroyed Blackwind Empire, he could feel goosebumps rising on his skin when he witnessed the devastation wrought by an Other Disaster. Numerous living creatures were kept in captivity by the Others just like livestock. Death was a luxury as the Others needed the negative emotions of the living creatures to propagate and flourish. Thus unimaginable torment in the form of fear, despair and madness was inflicted upon them.
In the end, when the emotions had reached its peak, they would turn into food.
The bloody scene was vividly remembered and was shocking even when he thought about it now.
An Other Disaster was the worst possible thing that could occur to living creatures.
Li Luo was also reminded of the Xia Kingdom and the place he had grown up in. It had similarly been forced to migrate due to another Other Disaster and its peacefulness and serenity had been ruthlessly torn apart. Who knew just how many people continued to live in complete misery and suffering.
The familiar faces of his friends were probably still fighting against the Others with everything on the line, trying to prevent the corruption from advancing.
Astral Sage College might very well be the last sanctuary for the common folk.
“That said, this is just the start of the Stygian Rain of Calamity. When it truly descends, the World End’s River Region would turn into the playground of Others. They will arrive from the river along with torrential rain, the entire area transforming into a Devil Dominion. At that time, we will have to rely on the protective formation of Heavenly Dragon City to tide over this catastrophe. At the same time, it will serve as the bulwark for the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent and prevent the Others from leaving the World End’s River Region and infiltrating it and causing an even more terrifying Other Disaster.” Luo Jiang spoke with a hint of lingering fear and joy on his face.
Li Luo’s heart trembled. This was indeed a frightening thought.
As the two spoke, of the black meteors which were falling, several dozens suddenly shifted their direction and crashed towards the Falling Star Terrace. Roiling corruption raged and the entire sky seemed to dim.
“As expected, they are rushing towards us.”
“It seems like the Others hidden within the meteors can sense the energy in our area and want to deal with us first.” Luo Jiang explained as though he had expected this situation.
However he was not nervous either. This was as the Golden Dragonscale Cloud Formation still protected the Falling Star Terrace. This formation was something the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li had spent copious amounts of time and effort to create and was even capable of forcibly halting a King from entering.
Li Luo raised his head and could see the first batch of meteors approaching. Endless numbers of golden dragonscales suddenly manifested in the air and the energy clouds began to stir. A moment later, it had transformed into a gigantic dragon that was tens of thousands of feet large.
The dragon manifestation opened its gaping maw and a humongous torrent of dragonbreath was spewed out like a divine pillar capable of supporting the firmament. The descending black meteors were instantly disintegrated into nothingness upon contact.
Wherever the pillar of light passed, a black rift was left behind in the void that took a while before it closed.
Li Luo and Jiang Qing’e were moved by the sight. The energy undulations coming from the dragonbreath were so mighty that they could sense death looming over them. If they were on the receiving end of it, they might not be able to survive even with all of their trump cards. The Golden Dragonscale Cloud Formation was undoubtedly the most unyielding barrier of Heavenly Dragon Peak.
Despite how fearsome it was, the Others hiding within the black meteors did not seem to show any expression of terror. On the contrary, the magnified energy undulations only served to attract an even greater number of meteors in their direction.
This entire scene truly reminded one of the end times.
However the next wave of meteors were not able to collide with the Golden Dragonscale Cloud Formation. This was because an invisible and majestic force suddenly emerged from the heavens and the earth.
The force seemed to be capable of controlling even the world around them.
The Five Guardian Armies then looked outside of the Golden Dragonscale Cloud Formation where a decrepit old man had unknowingly appeared.
An indomitable and awe inspiring aura that transcended everything emanated from his body.
When the crowd saw the figure, looks of respect appeared in their face as they saluted him. “We greet Lineage chief Jingzhe.”
Who else other than Li Jingzhe could command such respect from the Guardian Armies?
Li Jingzhe casually waved as he emotionlessly glanced at the falling meteors. He then raised his hand in response.
At the same time, the meteors that contained terrifying amounts of corruption seemed to have been caught in mid air by an invisible gigantic hand, forcibly halted in the skies.
However, no matter how much the corruption continued to rage, they were unable to undo the shackles that bound them.
Li Jingzhe then lightly exhaled and a mystical azure wind blew across the earth. All of the black meteors that came into contact with it collapsed and simply vanished.
A meteor that an upper grade Duke might have been unable to stop had been easily extinguished with a casual motion from Li Jingzhe.
After dispelling the danger at hand, Li Jingzhe turned towards an area in the distance. With his strength, he could naturally see many more meteors descending into the World End’s River Region. Additionally there were Others emanating incredible amounts of corruption slowly emerging and beginning to wreak havoc.
“It looks like the scale of this Descending Devil Tide is greater than the previous times.” Li Jingzhe raised his head and stared at the mysterious World End’s River. Who knew just how many terrifying Others were waiting on the other side? Some that even he might fear.
His eyebrows creased as he frowned. With how large the scale of this Descending Devil Tide was, wouldn’t that mean that the corresponding Stygian Rain of Calamity would be even more frightening than before?
On the other hand, it also indicated that the opening of the World End’s River Treasure Domain was about to arrive.
It would come in tandem with the Stygian Rain of Calamity.
Li Jingzhe stood amongst the wind and rain as he remained in thought with a deep gleam in his eyes. The perceptive abilities of a King allowed him to smell that there was something different with the coming Stygian Rain of Calamity. It was as though a mighty storm was coming.
