Chapter 2056: There's An Intruder

Chapter 2056: There’s An Intruder

A few days went by in the blink of an eye and Grey was fully rested from his journey. He was immediately sent out by his father to go help out a team that was sent to scout a region who were trapped by the Gnomes.

Before leaving, he learned about the current situation of the war from his father, and things were not looking too good for humans as it seems. The Gnomes have expanded thousands of kilometers from the place they started the invasion. The no Half God Plane expert rule is still being held, which can be said to be one of the main reasons the war was still going on. The humans needed more time for more talents to grow, whereas the Gnomes were hoping to conquer the human world with the lowest risks.

Just like humans, Gnomes consider the lives of their Half God Plane experts as invaluable, so they would rather delay and cause more infightings than rush the war and risk losing more than half of their top experts.

Grey stood on a tree branch, staring at the vast expanse of land before him. Seeing the once glorious thousands of kilometers away dead empty shook his heart. Most of the cities far away from where Red City is located are abandoned just like this one. He shook his head before bringing out a map, observing it, he kept it back before taking to the sky with lightning speed.

A few hours later, Grey appeared behind a dilapidated building. He could hear the chatter of people inside the building, some laughing, while others were arguing. After hiding all traces of his aura, he listened carefully to what some of the people inside the building were discussing.

“We just need to keep them here a little longer and we can finally leave.”

“What’s even the essence of leaving them alive?”

“Since they’re still alive, it means they will naturally try to reach out to the stronghold for help, the help is precisely who we want.”

“Who’s that?”

“Haven’t you heard about that guy who appeared out of nowhere months back and for some reason he can manipulate plants just like any other element?”

“For real? Is it possible to manipulate plants?”

More than one shocked voice sounded their disbelief.

“I’ll never say something I’m not sure of. I’ve seen him with my own two eyes. He really can manipulate plants and trees out of thin air like every other element.” The first person who raised the matter said matter-of-factly. He went on to add, “To think there’s also a tree element.”

“Calling it the tree element sounds too tacky, the plant element is better.”

“What do you mean plant element? It’s clearly the nature element!”

“What nonsense nature element? All elements are from nature idiot.”

The group continued discussing what to call the supposed new element.

Grey, who had been listening for some time, could not help but snort coldly. These people inside the building were all humans, yet it was evident they were working for the Gnomes. The only thing Grey hated more than the Gnomes at the moment was humans who actively betrayed their race to work for an invading race. Since the start of the war, he had encountered multiple groups like these, and as long as he had the chance, he would always wipe them out.

‘This can’t be the only ones, else those people should’ve escaped by now.’ Grey thought while restraining his killing intent.

He was not one to rush carelessly into a fight. There was no one in this group that could pose a threat to him, so he wanted to take his time and survey the area before making a move. If possible, he would seal the area to stop them from alerting others.

It took him a few minutes to survey the area, and other than this dilapidated building, there were about twenty more buildings scattered across a region of about two kilometers, and in each of these buildings, were at least five people, all in the Early and Mid stages of the Sovereign Plane. The strongest individual among them was a Sixth stage Sovereign.

“Void, help me seal the area, I don’t want a single one of them to escape.”

Grey’s voice was not particularly low, and unlike when he first appeared here, he was no longer hiding. He stood in the middle of the town, his eyes looking across each building with contempt.

His voice drew the attention of the people in the closest building. One has to know that the hearing of a Sovereign Plane Elementalist is vastly superior to that of a normal human.

Three people stepped out from the building, and seeing Grey standing there calmly with his handsome face and well-combed hair, they were a bit taken aback. Of the three that stepped out, one of them was a middle-aged man with a missing ear. The middle-aged man was a Fifth stage Sovereign, a powerhouse in his own right.

“Kid, did I just hear you say you don’t want a single one to escape?” The middle-aged man asked in a grating voice as he picked his only visible ear.

Grey kept his deadpan expression, not bothering to answer the man as he waited for Void to complete his task.

“Kid, are you deaf?! I just asked you a question!” The middle-aged man fumed when he did not get a response from Grey. Still not getting a reaction, he took a step forward while raising his right hand.

A large palm made of fire appeared above Grey, and without hesitation, the middle-aged man brought his palm down. Since the young man did not want to reply to him, he might as well kill him and go back to his game.

The palm was about to land when the middle-aged man suddenly felt a cold chill run down his spine, and without a second thought, he grabbed one of the men beside him and tossed him towards his left as he retreated as fast as he could.

Everything happened so fast, the man who was thrown out by the middle-aged man did not understand what was happening, he only felt his body go light before his entire vision went blank… he was dead. He did not even see the attack, all he felt was unbridled killing intent before it all went black.

The third man standing in the scene came back to his senses and retreated as far away as he could. His eyes brimming with fear.

Bam!

At the same time, a loud explosion rang out from where the middle-aged man’s flaming palm landed, causing a wave of dust clouds to cover the area.

The sound of the explosion alerted the rest of the people in the town, with one figure after another flying out of the buildings.

They all stood mid-air, staring at the explosion. Among everyone present, one of them was particularly eye-catching, a lady who had a stout build and stood well over two meters tall. She was also the strongest Elementalist present here, being a Sixth stage Sovereign.

She asked in a cold voice, “What happened here?”

Her question seemed to fall to deaf ears as no one gave an answer. Looking around coldly, her aura flared and her bright red hair danced in the wind, “I just asked a question!”

“Leader, we don’t know what happened. Those two were here before I arrived, they should definitely know what happened.” A young man said hurriedly, pointing at the middle-aged man and the other surviving man.

“Hmm?” The lady raised her brow as she looked at the duo who the young man pointed at.

“There’s an intruder.” The middle-aged man missing an ear said in his raspy voice.

“An intruder?” The lady wanted more information from the middle-aged man.

Before the middle-aged man could speak, the other surviving man pointed at the middle-aged man and screamed, “You pushed my brother to his death!”

The middle-aged man looked at the man with a cold expression, “He failed to dodge the intruder’s attack, how is his weakness my fault?”

“You were the one who provoked that young man, he attacked you but you used my brother as a meat shield.” The other man, although only being a Second stage Sovereign, was overwhelmed with rage, ready to attack the middle-aged man at any moment.

The lady snorted coldly to stop the duo before focusing on the important matter, “Where’s the intruder now, is he dead?”
