Chapter 692 - Return
Chapter 692: Return
Staring at Borg who was in the air, the Legendary Sword Sage Baldela sighed gently. Although the battle seemed to be for revenge, there actually wasn’t another option for the Dark Blade. As early as half a year ago, a message came from the Malfa Family, saying that Cheyenne was returning to Aminya City with the treasures that he had obtained in the Sky Castle.
It was likely that the Malfa Family would surpass the Dark Blade within a short period of time. Given the feud between the two families, the Malfa Family would definitely destroy the Dark Blade when the time came. Instead of sitting back and doing nothing, they might as well try to get rid of the Tower of Dusk that did not have a leader at the moment. Otherwise,it would only be a matter of time before the Malfa Family killed them. By then, the Dark Blade wouldn’t have a chance to make a comeback.
Actually, deep down, Baldela did detest Stephen to a certain extent. Had Stephen not launched an attack halfway through the journey and fallen out with Felic, they wouldn’t have had to retreat early. After all, they had already been in the last realm of the Seven-Realm Spiral, and they might have obtained some treasures that would at least have let them have half of the Malfa Family’s spoils.
Unfortunately, there was no point in thinking about that now. All they could do was destroy the Tower of Dusk first. Fortunately for them, the young President Lin Li was not around at this time; hence, they could not be compared to the Dark Blade at all. They were simply holding on and enduring by relying on the setups in the tower. It was only a matter of time before they got destroyed. Baldela got a grip on himself, and Combat Energy was emitted from his double-edged sword, after which he dashed towards the Alchemy Colossus menacingly…
After all, the Dark Blade had been in business for hundreds of years, and the Tower of Dusk had only been established less than two years ago. Despite the benefits provided by the President Lin Li, they still lacked competent manpower. The mages of the Tower of Dusk were indeed very talented in magic, and, in fact, plenty of them were very likely to become Legendary-mages. However, before that, Archmages would still be Archmages, after all. Their outstanding talent would not allow them to possess extraordinary power.
On the other hand, the Dark Blade had plenty of Mages, Warriors, Bandits, and members of various other professions even though they were not too talented. Perhaps some of them were only at level-15, while others would never reach the Legendary-realm. However, it did not matter as long as they were stronger than their opponents at hand. If they could kill the opponents, who would care if they were Legendary-mages?
Facing the crazy attack of the members of the Dark Blade, the mages of the Tower of Dusk were being outclassed even though they tried their best to resist. After all, they were at an absolute disadvantage in terms of strength, and they were outnumbered too.
Gavin was watching the battlefield anxiously. Although the Tower of Dusk had suffered less damage than the Dark Blade, unlike the Dark Blade, they could not afford to sustain any damage.
During the consecutive intense battles, the lives of more than 10 young mages had already been lost; God knew how many of them might’ve become Archmages and Legendary-mages. Whenever he thought of the lives that had been lost, Gavin would feel a heart-wrenching pain in his chest. He thought, Is the President really not going to come back? If he comes back, how am I supposed to answer him?
Almost all of the mages of the Tower of Dusk were injured, and Gavin’s chest was oozing with blood that stained his bandage. However, he was still holding onto the magic staff and waving it around without any expression, casting spell after spell on the enemies. The pharmacist Wilkinson’s magic robe was stained with blood, but instead of healing potions, he ingested potions that had been infused with mana. Gerian, whose arm was crippled, scurried out and cast spells while wielding his magic staff.
Even Gavin, the commander who stood in the center, was attacked and deeply wounded by an assassin of the Dark Blade. However, he could not be bothered to put on a bandage, and simply used magic to freeze his wound, after which he continued to command the mages to get them to proceed with the attack.
“If you must blame someone, blame your President. This is the disaster he brought on you! One day, some of you will become Undead creatures. Greet him on my behalf when you have the opportunity to do so.” Borg laughed maniacally, sending a cold chill down their spines.
However, at this moment, a massive mana wave suddenly erupted in the sky, sweeping the entire battlefield like a storm. In the battlefield, the two sides paused in unison as fear made them tremble uncontrollably.
As the terrifying mana appeared, they realized that there were only two colors they could see. Be it on the ground beneath them or the sky above, everything turned black and white. It was so oppressive that they were on the verge of despair, as if it was almost the end of the world.
The blurry figure in the white sky seemed extremely gigantic to them, just as if they were just insignificant ants. The suffocating mana wave seemed so extremely overbearing that none of them dared to retaliate.
Lin Li floated quietly over the top of the Tower of Dusk, looking down at the battlefield where a battle between the Dark Blade and the Tower of Dusk was taking place. When he saw the corpses of the mages of the Tower of Dusk, an icy cold gaze filled his eyes.
“Dark Blade, you asked for your own death!” Lin Li barked while keeping a straight face and raising the Helios’ Scepter in his hand. The streams of light weaved around the scepter all the way to the top, while the huge gemstone instantly burst into a dazzling ray of light.
The huge mana waves that flooded the heavens and earth immediately surged upwards, creating a destructive Mana Storm. Hundreds of Angels of Light and Dark appeared, holding spears and shuttling through the sky. They continuously rushed to the ground without stopping.
With a loud roar, the hundreds of Angels of Light and Dark darted towards the people in the battlefield like lightning. Everyone watched in horror with a look of hopelessness in their eyes. They wanted to flee, but could not move their feeble legs. They wanted to retaliate, but could not seem to hold their weapons up.
On the battlefield, the shrilling yells sounded for a brief moment before silence was restored again.
The mages of the Tower of Dusk were surprised to find that the members of the Dark Blade who had just fought against them had vanished in the blink of an eye. Even till now, they still dared not believe that the terrifying figure in the sky was actually there to help the Tower of Dusk.
“It’s President. President is back!” Gavin shouted excitedly. When encircling and suppressing the Syer Bandits in the Dragon Mountains, he had personally witnessed the President, Lin Li, exhibiting his Magical Domain of frost, light, and darkness. Even though there were no laws of ice in this Magical Domain, he was sure that Lin Li was the only one who could create the Angels of Light and Dark.
Upon hearing Gavin’s yell of excitement, the mages of the Tower of Dusk burst into cheers after a moment of silence. The attack of the Dark Blade had been getting more and more intense and menacing. Even with the help of the mages from the Malfa Family, the future of the Tower of Dusk still had been gloomy and bleak. Everyone had said that the President would not come back and wavered. In fact, they’d also got ready to go all out and give up everything they had.
However, not only did their President return, he even effortlessly destroyed the hundreds of elites of the Dark Blade. His power was definitely not weaker than that of the Legendary-mage of the Dark Blade. All the mages in the Tower of Dusk got their hopes up again. Although they knew that there were two Legendary leaders in the Dark Blade, they still believed that under the leadership of the President, they would be able to defeat the Dark Blade this time.
Lin Li descended from the sky and quietly floated towards Borg.
“F-Felic!” Borg grimaced when he saw the enemy in front of him. He gritted his teeth, and bitterly exclaimed, “I didn’t expect you to make it out alive, but great, I finally have an opportunity to take revenge!”
Staring at Borg whose hair was all white, Lin Li was stunned because he couldn’t recognize him at all. He wondered, Is this the same person who stepped into the Malfa Family’s campground and asked to cooperate with Cheyenne? It had only been half a year, yet the Legendary powerhouse of the Dark Blade seemed to have aged 10 years at once.
Although he and Stephen had fought each other, Stephen had already been dead in a sense. However, Lin Li did not intend to explain this to Borg. Although he sympathized with Borg, the damage that the Dark Blade had brought the Tower of Dusk was absolutely unforgivable.
“I will make you regret coming back!” Borg suddenly raised his staff, after which the gemstone on his staff suddenly emitted an infinite ray of black light. In a flash, a Magical Domain that was covered in blazing black flames extended to the surroundings.
The black flames derived from the Darkness Laws and Flame Energy contained the power to burn everything in the world. Rather than melting, any metal would be burned to ashes in an instant, and light wouldn’t fare any better.
Seeing that Borg’s Black Flames domain was about to engulf him soon, Lin Li quickly raised the Helios’ Scepter and gently pointed it forward.
Borg suddenly felt a huge force above his head, and he looked up to see that a Light and Darkness Sword had somehow condensed above him. It was then slashing down with infinite power.
“Bang!” A loud noise exploded and two strong forces collided together, making it almost impossible for everyone to stand up properly.
The newly formed Black Flames Domain had already disappeared, and Borg turned as pale as a sheet, after which he spat out a large mouthful of blood and fell to the ground like a shooting star.
