Chapter 256: Side Story: At the table (b)
“This shit is too broken!” John stood up from his seat, an overly exaggerated expression on his face. Pointing at Theo, he said, ‘With all the special skills in his possession, he is already a cheat! Giving him the flag is the same as killing off his shortcomings and making him perfect! I barely caught up to him after winning this item, but now he is again way above me” His dream to beat the crap out of Theo shattered into pieces, making him so upset that he chugged down an entire bottle of alcohol, only to slam it on the table with such force that it cracked. Right at that moment, he hissed, “Bitter!”
Elliot confirmed that what John found bitter was the alcohol and also the fact that he didn’t let him get the flag.
“I’m bitter.” John confirmed his thoughts, “It would’ve been better if you gave it to me,” he cried out after understanding the true value of the flag.
“You have painted a too-good-to-be-true picture in your mind,” Theo said before snapping his fingers and adding, “Snap back to reality.”
“Did I miss something?” John asked.
“It’s damaged; the amount of soul required to activate the field even once is ten times the actual amount.”
Theo clarified before giving his new weapon a look. If Elliot hadn’t come here, he would have never found out about its true worth. Actually, Theo had special eyes with many functions, and one of them let him determine the value of a treasure or a person. But this treasure was covered in a unique spell that masked its uniqueness, making it impossible for anyone to determine its actual value with a single look. And anyone even the slightest bit interested in it would look away after a glance or two because it looked too worn out, appearing similar to broken items in a trash heal.
“Thank you.”
Although that came out of nowhere, Elliot wasn’t surprised.
“You’re welcome.”
Elliot then turned towards John and said, “Still waiting to hear it from you.”
“Not saying.”
John, who was now drunk and out of his playful mind, was annoyed. After all, he lost his once-in-a-lifetime chance to defeat Theo in a spar because Elliot had been overly generous to Theo. He pouted at Elliot, trying to look pitiful.
His thoughts were written all over his face.
He wanted another fortuitous encounter.
“Disgusting! Don’t try to act cute with me.”
Since seeling meng failed, it was time to take a different route.
“Oh great sage, help this pitiful mortal out of his miserable situation.”
“One is enough. Be satisfied, or your belly might explode.”
Elliot’s demeanor said it all.
He had no intention of being the godfather of this shameless youngster!
But he didn’t mind recognizing this shameless young vampire with little to no pride as his little brother, a follower as to say!
“Bless me with a lucky encounter, and I shall set you up with my sister.”
John started chanting while banging the noodle bowl with the wooden chopsticks he picked up from the table, causing clanking sounds that a person would only hear in a temple where ten thousand shiny head blesses the land daily with their radiance.
Now, the only thing stopping John from looking like a monk was his head full of hair.
“So this is what the drink talking seems like, eh.” Elliot had never had alcohol before, so he didn’t know what it felt like to get drunk. It’s not like he had any intention of doing that. Not to mention, he never thought that alcohol was deadly enough to even cause a vampire to get drunk. “Pretty interesting.”
Theo, who only wanted to eat his meal in peace, could not endure the sound pollution produced by John!
“Beggars can’t be choosers.”
Theo threw an insult at John, not knowing that he was making fun of himself too.
Both of them were on Elliot’s payroll, after all!
“Stop acting out and sit down.”
“Me, a beggar?” Fully intoxicated, John didn’t mind getting back at Theo by using his knife-like tongue. “W-where your eyes at, a-a-above your h-head or below your blue balls? This young man obviously is the most handsome in existence! Hiccup! How can you compare this man to a beggar? Hiccup!
“Hah, hah.” Theo, who was about to stuff his mouth with a piece of meat, laughed grimly and placed his chopsticks back on the table. Making fun of him and disturbing his mealtime was a big no-go for Theo, and anyone that did that in the past met the same end, a cruel end.
Elliot saw Theo’s eyes narrowing down to reveal a dangerous look, and he immediately realized that John was going to lose his neck!
“Calm down, man. No need to feel offended.” Elliot said, gesturing for Theo to sit down and enjoy the meal.
He didn’t want a certain vampire’s blood to get on the poor robot’s table and dirty it.
“Not offended,” Theo said and obediently sat down.
“Yeah, that’s good.” Elliot spoke in favor of the annoying vampire, “He is just drunk and can’t help spewing out nonsense.”
“I have many methods to make him sober.”
Theo was extremely grateful to Elliot, so he didn’t mind following him this once, “Just let me know if you can’t stand him, and I will use one of them.”
“Haha, guess what did I just see?”
John laughed and pinked like a stupid old pig, causing three pairs of eyes to reflexively turn towards him.
“What?”
Now with everyone’s attention on him, John made the big reveal.
“A doggy with emerald eyes! Ahahaha!”
Kachak!
Theo’s chopsticks broke into two. One could see veins throbbing on his forehead, almost trying to bursts out from behind the bronze skin!
Elliot was sure that if John continued farting out of his mouth, someone’s waist would also meet the same end as the poor chopsticks who did nothing wrong.
‘R. I. P brother chopsticks!’
‘I will not forget to burn three incense for you tonight!’
