Chapter 264: Elliot-the book flipper! (a)
Elliot was elated as he could use his eyes to learn a foreign language and start communicating with aliens far faster than before and far faster than anyone else. No matter where he goes, he would always have the upper hand compared to the other members of his race. Communication was necessary to establish contacts. Talking in other’s race language would also help in getting recognized by them. In the future, this passive skill would help him in various situations!
Elliot came here to learn the soul language, and he had done just that. He wanted to put it to the test now and see if he could decode the text on the elixir bottle or not. He couldn’t leave because if he failed to, it would make his visit useless. Elliot needed to stay here. Otherwise, it would take a year before he would get to decide the recipe that would shape his and the future of humanity as a whole.
“It’s not a problem to decode the pill recipe here. I can still stay here for two days. There’s plenty of time.”
Only a day had passed since he came here. He had two days to decode and see if he needed to learn other languages or not. If he runs short of time and doesn’t have any different ways, Elliot didn’t mind probing the librarian to understand which language the text on the bottle belongs to, and it’s not like he would die if he did that.
Feeling many gazes on him, he looked left and right and finally noticed that hundreds of pairs of eyes had been gazing and peeking at him and his side profile for a while.
“I should set up some measure to hide what I am doing just in case.”
Elliot didn’t want others to see the elixir as it might attract unwanted attention and even trouble.
The elixir was a rare treasure, but it wasn’t precious enough to star a galaxy-wide hunt; that he knew too well. However, the recipe on it could help an entire race evolve! For this recipe, a war terrifyingly sufficient to wipe out many races would begin. He didn’t know who left it behind and why, but he was intelligent enough to determine the true worth of the cell evolving recipe. If someone here could tell its worth, he would fall into trouble, and so would the whole of the human race! Not even for a moment did Eliot believe that these high-level civilizations wouldn’t target him for these pill recipes!
Whether a race becomes multi-planetary or enters an intergalactic era, one thing wouldn’t change, and that’s greed!
He was conscious of his strength and not too arrogant enough to think that he would be able to hold a candle against intergalactic races.
He didn’t want to enter the sight of such greedy bastards!
Thus, he called the bunny girl, paid her a few spirit points, tipped her several spirit coins, and kindly reminder her to set up the highest grade privacy barrier around him.
The bunny girl instantly became happy as she got her monthly income in a single moment. She was the same one who badmouthed Elliot a day ago. Now, she told him that she was sorry and also thanked him. Elliot didn’t know why she was saying sorry to him, but before he could even ask her, she set up a privacy barrier around him and went away.
Others couldn’t see him, but Elliot could see what was happening outside the white barrier with jeweled edges.
“Now that I am in a secure surrounding, it’s time to begin.”
He took out the elixir bottle from his subspace and looked at the symbols on it with a gaze of scrutiny. Elliot’s worse fear didn’t come true. The words belonged to the prehistoric soul race, and he managed to understand them.
He started decoding them, one word at a time. He just needed to look at a symbol, and the meaning of it would pop up in his mind. There were tens of thousands of characters belonging to prehistoric soul language in his mind along with their purpose. It only took him a couple of minutes to translate all of them into a sentence that made sense.
Mutated Star Silk, Dark Heart, Assassin Spider’s venom, Ginseng Queen or King, and heart blood of beasts were the ingredients necessary to make the cell evolution elixir.
The pill recipe only exposed the names of the ingredients but not where he could get them!
Elliot hurriedly stored the elixir in his subspace, stood up, and stepped out of the privacy barrier he had rented for two days.
The bunny girl saw that, and she came up to him, wanting to help him.
However, he sent her away.
He didn’t want anyone’s help.
He wanted to keep the names of the ingredients needed to create it a secret!
He didn’t even want to leave behind trackable traces!
He started strolling around the library, reading books left and right.
“What the hell is he doing?”
“Why is he just picking up a book, flipping through it, and placing it back on the bookshelf?”
“Is he playing around?”
“Although this guy is pleasing to the eyes, he knows not how to respect books.”
“If he continues to do that, he will get himself kicked out by the librarian!”
This jinx had just said that when the librarian walked towards Elliot.
“Young man, what are you doing?” The librarian was a chill dude who didn’t like to throw his weight around left and right. Also, he didn’t like to enforce rules strictly. It’s just that what Elliot was doing was pretty disturbing and weird. It was both interested in knowing why he was flipping through books and somewhat annoyed.
“What else can I do with books if not read and memorize them?”
Elliot asked with a straight face.
What else could he be doing?
It’s not like these were erotic books that would help him obtain sexual gratification, right?
