Chapter 2098 - Strongest Divine Wonder
Chapter 2098 – Strongest Divine Wonder
Tianming landed firmly on his feet on the black ground. Looking around, he saw a black fog permeating the entire area. It was a world of pure darkness; there was even a hint of blood in the smell of the place. Countless fierce auras drifted around him, but even they paled in comparison to the domineering city of darkness ahead of him that stretched endlessly on. He saw nothing but splashes of black and red—black walls and red blood. A ghastly face was carved into the main gates of the city with the name ‘Darkfiend City’ engraved above it.
“Master.” The wondersky fairy emerged, this time with a pair of snow-white wings on her back. “While your humble servant will be at your side at all times, I’m not visible to other people.”
“Does everyone have a wondersky fairy?”
“Yes.” In other words, everyone was accompanied by a barely clad beauty. How degenerate!
“Wait, what about the women? Are their wondersky fairies male? Are they also that revealing?”
“That is correct.”
“Dammit, and I wanted Ling’er to come with me! Forget it, then!” The mere thought of a male figure other than him being by her side at all times made him shudder.
“You hypocrite with your double standards! Why can you prance about with a beauty by your side, but Ling’er can’t?” Ying Huo spat.
“Shut up, birdbrain!”
He headed straight toward the city while looking around. With the wondersky fairy constantly surveilling him, he couldn’t really yell out loud for the person he was looking for. However, that didn’t stop him from thinking, Senior… oh handsome Senior, where are you? Come on, at least give me a sign.
He looked around and saw that the fairy was directly above him and quickly looked back down. “Dammit, you’re not even wearing—” Fucking shameless wonderians! If a girl had looked up at their male fairy…. They would probably never look up ever again.
“Young man, you’ve made these old bones wait long enough,” rang a familiar voice during the awkward moment.
Tianming took a deep breath and looked around, but found nobody there. He wanted to speak, but the wondersky fairy above was constantly surveilling him.
“Don’t say a word and let me do the talking.”
Tianming was quite relieved to hear that and stopped in his tracks.
“Master, why’d you stop?”
“Shut up and let me think!”
“Very well. You truly look handsome while you’re brooding in thought, Master.” The wondersky fairy’s eyes glowed like there were stars in them, but Tianming completely ignored her and focused on listening.
“Listen up, young man. I’m Old Man Voidback!” His voice was long and drawn-out, with a mysterious, archaic flavor. “Young man, do you want to know the weakness of the divine wonderians? Do you know what sadistic tragedies they’ve caused? Do you want to know the secrets of the green clamshell and black squid, or all other wondersky realms? I can tell you all about those nightmarish terrors! Once you learn everything, you’ll come to understand that a race like them doesn’t deserve to continue existing. Their continued presence is an eternal mark of sin on the universe!”
Oh? Based on your words alone? Tianming kept feigning deep thought.
“It’s far too dastardly!” Old Man Voidback sighed and continued with a melancholic tone. “I can’t even begin to tell you about them in detail here. Come to Voidback City and seek me out, and I shall reveal all the secrets to you. At the same time, you’ll become my successor and disciple. I’ll pass on the strongest divine wonder in the astralscape of order to you! It is capable of destroying the divine wondersky race! They ruined everything of mine, save for it! Even if they were able to steal all that belonged to my people, they’ll never obtain the full fruits of our efforts!”
The strongest divine wonder? All the other things the voice had mentioned sounded too fantastical, but those words still caught his attention. He really wanted to ask if it was really that powerful, and whether it could be passed on, but he knew better than to ask right now.
“Remember! Voidback City! You’ll be lucky enough to be able to witness the strongest divine wonder in the universe!” the old man said, sounding like he was about to break into tears.
Tianming found it rather laughable. Isn’t he a bit too haphazard? He asked me to come to the Skydome Battlefield, yet he didn’t meet me here when I arrived. And now he’s asking me to go to Voidback City? How would I know where it is? Could he be some kind of scammer? Or is he really the enemy of divine wonderians? Then again, the enemy of his enemy could be his friend, so Tianming still felt the need to check it out.
The thought of the strongest divine wonder made his blood boil, but he still felt rather miffed about having been stood up, as he had thought he would be able to meet Old Man Voidback right away.
“I beseech you, remember to come to Voidback City! Otherwise, I’ll have died in vain!”
You’re already dead, yet you’re speaking so much…
“Voidback! Voidback! Do go there!” That was the last of the voice.
Goodbye. So, Voidback City, eh? The one before me is called Darkfiend. Maybe it’s another city in the Skydome Battlefield. Looks like the strongest divine wonder isn’t too far off now. He was definitely interested in checking it out. His own wonder, the prime tower, had nine floors, yet only one had been activated to date. No doubt, the other floors would be rather powerful as well. He also had the divine wonder monster, Weisheng Moran, who boasted endless potential. Even so, he wouldn’t mind getting another divine wonder in his big bag of tricks. If it really was the most powerful divine wonder in the universe, he could only stand to benefit. Not to mention, his divine wonders were the weakest links in his chain, compared to his totems and lifebound beasts, so this was a chance to strengthen that link. More importantly, there were still other secrets to be learned from the old man.
“Master, have you finished thinking?” came the cute voice from above.
“Not yet, but I do want to ask something. Can you be somewhere else instead of hovering above me?”
“That won’t do. What’re you afraid of?”
“I’m afraid that you’ll pee on me.”
“Meanie… that’s embarrassing….”
Heavens! How would he survive? He cleared his throat and changed the subject. “Forget it. Tell me what I can do in the Skydome Battlefield and how I can enter Darkfiend City.”
When it came to serious questions, the wondersky fairy didn’t mess around. In a mechanical voice, she said, “Darkfiend City is said to have been made by the universal fiends of darkness as their nest. It has a long history—”
“Cut away the fluff. I don’t want the history, just tell me the key points.”
“Understood!” She nodded and continued on with an impassioned voice filled with terror, “Legend says that during the Bloodmoon Night, the strongest darkfiend shall feast on the heart’s blood of ninety-nine other darkfiends to break the shackles in Darkfiend City to head to the next city. That darkfiend shall obtain a fullstella battle art. Li Tianming, as a new darkfiend, begin your journey through Darkfiend City! Bloodmoon Night shall arrive soon!”
Tianming cringed as he heard the explanation. “It’s yet another boring level-clearing game…. Why can’t it just be kept simple? Simply killing would’ve sufficed, but you have to make it so complicated.”
“Shh, don’t let the other darkfiends hear you say that. The deep mysteries of the Skydome Battlefield aren’t something an amateur like you can comprehend…. Terrifying secrets lie behind them!” The wondersky fairy wore an expression so terrified that Tianming unconsciously shrunk back.
“Terrifying your ass! Stop messing around!” He gave her a kick and sent her flying, only to find that it actually worked. It made sense that she could be kicked, given that she could also ‘serve’.
“Master, how dare you kick your humble slave?” she said as she came stomping angrily back.
“I’m your master. Why can’t I do that?”
“Hmph!”
“What? Do you think you’re a real person? You’re nothing but a bundle of divine celestial patterns.” He ignored her protests and treated her like a tool. “That fullstella battle art you mentioned sounds rather powerful.”
While she grit her teeth in anger, she still regained her calm and answered his question. “It’s more powerful than a ninth-realm divine art. Arts of that class are the strongest available to stellaminors, allowing them to unleash the most destructive force using their astral physiques.”
“I see. That does sound tempting.” It could be stronger than the Ninedragon Tribulation. “So, what about the other cities? Must I go through Darkfiend City to reach the next? Are they all lined up one after another?”
“That is correct! Every city is a universal mystery of its own! They each have different themes and win conditions. It’s a land of endless fun for the billions of elites in the Skydome Battlefield!” the wondersky fairy proclaimed with pride.
“Who cares about your silly themes? Just give me the rewards,” he said, rolling his eyes.
“Teehee.”
“How many cities are there? What’s the last one called?”
“There are countless cities, but twenty-nine different levels of cities. There’s only one highest-level city, the main city of the Skydome Battlefield. It’s reserved for the top elites of the Skydome Mundus, those from fifth- and sixth-level worlds especially, and it’s called Voidback City!” The wondersky fairy shot Tianming a look of disdain. “Given your level of power, you won’t be able to reach it in a thousand years.”
Tianming was completely speechless. The strongest divine wonder wouldn’t be that easy to obtain, after all! “I guess there’s no point in coming to this shitty place too often. I’ll just come here to practice my battle arts, and when I’m powerful enough, I’ll clear it in one go.” He turned to the wondersky fairy as he finished the thought. “Not to mention there’s this pervert pestering me nonstop.”
“Shouldn’t she be your motivation to come here?” Ying Huo asked.
“Nonsense. I’m a gentleman and that’s just a bundle of divine celestial patterns!”
“Who cares if she’s just patterns? I made sure to record your every interaction so I can describe it all to Ling’er when we go back,” Xian Xian said.
Ji Ji merely chuckled in a sinister manner.
Tianming froze and didn’t know what to do.
