Chapter 2256 - Xiaoyao
Chapter 2256 – Xiaoyao
Within the silver fog, one strand of long, black-silver hair after another spread out like the roots of a plant, climbing their way up Lin Lingxiao’s chair and wrapping around his arms and body. Then a beautiful figure appeared within the fog and made its approach. Her jet-black eyes contrasted against the bright silver beams that shot out of her palms, illuminating Lin Lingxiao.
“Big Brother, do you miss dear old Xiaoyao here?” the girl said with a most seductive voice.
“Let’s not talk about that. I’m already someone’s husband, and I have enough concubines. You should care for yourself, too,” Lin Lingxiao said.
“Xiaoyao understands….” The silvery figure continued moving closer, revealing herself to be a shapely beauty. Then she sat down on his thighs. Her silvery hair was long and luscious. It surrounded Lin Lingxiao, seemingly wrapping him in a large cocoon.
“The only reason we can’t be a true couple is your clan’s insistence on purity of bloodlines, but it doesn’t matter. You can get married and have your offspring, while I can do the same. Leaving a legacy is a duty of clans like ours. They’re duties we have to fulfill because of our bloodline. We must respect them, but they aren’t everything. That’s why Xiaoyao’s heart will always be yours. My body will also always be yours to enjoy.” She blushed and leaned against his chest.
“Is that so? I thought you’d come to convince me to submit to the ebons,” Lin Lingxiao said with a smirk.
“So, what’s your decision?” she asked with a mischievous smile.
“I’ll take a bite first out of respect.”
……
Within the Oldgod Domain, Infernal Blaze kept burning. When the flames entered the magma, they burned even stronger. The blonde beauty of the Lin Clan, Lin Linglin, stood beside the fire as her long skirt fluttered, waiting for someone to return.
“Dear Lin, are you okay? asked a green-robed man who hugged her from behind.
“Brother Jianxing.” She blushed and moved aside in a hurry. “The Oldgod ring.” It was clear that their relationship had only just begun.
“You’re hurt,” Lin Jianxing said, noticing a bloody mark near her forehead. An intense surge of sword ki appeared in his gaze. “Lin Feng!”
“Brother Jianxing, don’t be angry. It’s almost healed,” Lin Linglin awkwardly said.
“He really didn’t hurt you after defeating you?”
“He didn’t.”
“Oh….” Lin Jianxing furrowed his brows. His attempt to pierce Lin Lele through the head, in contrast, would no doubt draw quite a bit of negative comments back at the clan. Lin Lele wasn’t someone he had a grudge against, unlike Tianming.
“Sorry, Brother Jianxing, I wasn’t able to keep the skeleton safe,” Lin Linglin said with a troubled look that only made her seem even more enchanting.
“That means he’s been observing our each and every move. How in the world does he do it?” Lin Jianxing figured it out the moment he knew that he had been lured away.
“I don’t know….” The possibility of Yin Chen spying on them hadn’t even occurred to them. There were almost no exceptions to the fact that the spawns of broodmother-type beasts had no intelligence at all, with ‘almost’ being the operative word. “Either way, catching him will prove incredibly difficult. I didn’t think he’d be stronger than me, either. Brother Jianxing, how strong was he when you first met him? Could he have been hiding his power this whole time?”
“Back then? He was like a puny chicken compared to me!” Lin Jianxing said. He was the one who would know best. Tianming’s combat capabilities seemed to grow without any restraint at all. Lin Jianxing had never considered the powerless son of Lin Mu to be his rival, but he had a feeling that wouldn’t be the case for long.
He doesn’t have swordbeasts, nor does he have a swordheart! It’s impossible! Even if his abilities rose in a short period of time, he’ll barely make any progress without a swordheart at the Order stage. That notion made him feel somewhat relaxed. Though, seeing the bloody mark on Lin Linglin’s forehead and being reminded of how he had been played caused his anger to rise again. Not killing Lin Mu’s son the moment they had met was his greatest regret and would continue to haunt and torment him.
If I manage to catch him, I can destroy his Oldgod Ring and kill him before the enforcers come. That way, I can brush it off as an accident. Maybe the Hall of Discipline will let me get away with it. His eyes brightened at the thought; he finally had an answer. As long as the reformists take over the council and manage to successfully bring us to the ebons’ side, we’ll be able to change the rules of the clan any way we want. By then, Lin Mu’s lowly son will be done for!
He clenched his fists tight as a horrendous expression surfaced. Dad, I haven’t seen you even once since I was born. If you were still alive, I’d be able to enjoy even better resources as the heir of the Third Branch! With Lin Mu dead, I’m no longer able to avenge you. However, I can kill his son to sate your spirit in the afterlife….
Oh, how he regretted not killing Tianming when he’d had the chance. But he had been in too much of a rush to see him get killed by the mob, so he’d taken him to the Myriadsword Mausoleum instead. It would have been so much more entertaining had he kept Tianming for himself to torture.
……
“It feels much more lonely with Sis Le gone.” Tianming had to go solo from now on, not that he’d ever needed protection to begin with. As long as he didn’t want to be found, nobody could find him, thanks to Yin Chen.
Meow Meow’s close brush with Lin Jianxing had shown how wide the distance between him and an astral god was. “The Oldgod Domain provides a rather decent environment. I still have time, so I have to use it to improve myself. Only then will I have the right to set things right in Lin Mu’s name.”
He couldn’t see how many people in the clan were still criticizing him and talking him down. “It’s so much more calm here. Thankfully, my performance has been rather decent since the beginning of the event.”
Tianming took out the three sets of skeletons he found. Without Lin Lele’s Oldgod Ring around, it was much easier for him to hide things. He simply put his ringed right hand into his pants while he undid the third skeleton’s locks with his left hand, opening its caelum realm.
“Three thousand?” There were that many green stars before him. The first skeleton had a thousand, the second had two thousand, and this one had three thousand. He was getting more and more legacy caeli, and all of them were bigger than those in the Caeli Vault’s seventh level. He was swimming in a sea of peak-quality caeli.
“Lin Jianxing is gone, for now, but the next time we meet, I won’t be running and hiding any longer.” He stilled his heart and mind. The gains he had gotten from the pinky finger made him feel rather empty, so he still had to study the order of these peak-level caeli to stabilize himself and improve in a proper way.
Once more, he saw bee-headed people and bees’ nests, again and again. Within the nests were the same bee-headed humanoid creatures, the many ordines. The caeli in the three skeletons were more than enough for Tianming to make progress.
