Chapter 2280 - Escape
Chapter 2280 – Escape
The woman’s name was Yi Taoyao, which gave off the impression that she was a mischievous and energetic young girl. Most people named like that could usually be described in that way, but not Yi Taoyao. She was tall and slender, but she was cold as frost. Her white hair was like snow, starkly contrasting against her black dress. She looked like a holy woman standing in the middle of a blizzard, embodying the quintessential beauty. Her long ears and colorful eyes made her look even more otherworldly.
She was also a totemancer, a type of cultivator rarely seen in the Infinitum Mundus, unlike the Skydome Mundus. Of the thirteen Infinitum Regal Clans, only the luxdaemons practiced totemancy.
The room continued shaking, causing magma, rocks and dust to fall all over the place. Quite a lot of nova wildbeasts had been alerted because of the phenomenon. They scattered and tried to run in all directions, randomly blasting away with their abilities and adding to the chaos in the upper part of the Oldgod Domain. The other participants of the event sensed opportunities within the chaos and kept swarming toward the epicenter of the commotion. Yin Chen remained in the know of all those minute changes. However, all of that shaking caused quite a bit of difficulty for its many distributed bodies.
Despite all the shaking, the luxdaemon girl remained perfectly still, standing atop the middle-finger pillar. Her skirt danced around like blooming flowers of darkness around her long and slender legs, making for quite a sight. She swept her gaze over Tianming for the slightest moment, probably finding it intriguing that the son of Lin Mu also had bright white hair.
But the next moment, she flicked her blood toward the stone pillar to mimic him, something he was unable to stop at all. The distance was far too vast, and it would be suicide to interrupt her before he knew what she was thinking. There was no need for him to get himself killed over it. I was only one step away! Dammit! He watched as her blood was absorbed into the pillar.
I should’ve been able to take everything inside the Oldgod Domain with Yin Chen and my Sky Plundering Hand, but I can’t keep up with the rest because I’m far too young! I lost quite a few crucial things to others! Shuntian Bohan had taken the first manna, Guchi Xiaoyin had taken more than a hundred manna and the mysterious ring, and Lin Hongchen had taken away four sets of skeletons. And now, the final finger that Tianming needed to complete his collection had been lost to an even stronger foe.
This could’ve been avoided if I was just a bit more powerful. Oh well, at least I got two more fingers, which should allow me to make more breakthroughs. Maybe I’ll finally be able to go up against astral gods! The question now was what would happen to the transformed tomb. He retreated to a distance and kept his eyes on it. Yi Taoyao had seen Tianming destroy the other pillars, so she did the same by stomping it hard. The middle finger immediately crumbled.
“Huh?” She looked at her right hand, at her long finger in particular. It looked just like the green giant’s. Her right middle finger started to glow green.
It’s gone…. Tianming felt even worse at the sight. Now that he had lost it for good, he focused on running. If she found out about the benefits of the stone pillars, she would definitely come after him, especially knowing that he had more! If he took too long to run, he would probably lose a few fingers if he even managed to keep his life. Considering the relations between the Lin Clan and the luxdaemons, we’re probably enemies!
Tianming ran even more desperately. As expected, the beauty with colorful eyes turned into a black storm and gave chase. Tianming felt a fatal frost creeping toward him. Dammit, how unlucky can I get?!
No doubt, the whole of Ebonia was tuned in to Yi Taoyao’s Oldgod Ring. It was clear what Tianming had been up to based on that alone. The traces he’d wanted to hide had been exposed. The seniors outside might be surprised at first, before they feel schadenfreude at my predicament, I guess. The mere image of a luxdaemon chasing down Lin Mu’s son would no doubt remind people of Lin Mu and Yi Daiyan from back in the day.
Even so, Tianming wasn’t afraid. He had a head start and the tomb was still changing. It was hard to imagine Yi Taoyao would entirely give up on the tomb just to chase him down. The two of them flew at high speeds until the tomb changed again in a way that neither of them expected.
Two streams of liquid green tentacle-like things shot out of the hundred thousand hexagonal holes of the bees’ nest, where chrysalises normally grew and matured. The holes out of which the tentacles stretched were situated near the middle of the nest.
“What in the world?” Tianming was flabbergasted as one sticky green tentacle shot toward him and wrapped around his body. “Ooof!” He felt like he was surrounded by snot; it was utterly disgusting.
He couldn’t move in the slightest while he was suspended. The green tentacle was incredibly powerful. As he vomited, he saw the white-haired beauty behind him, similarly bound by a tentacle, and immediately felt much better at the sight of her being more disgusted than he was. He could tell by how much her face had contorted.
The tentacles immediately retracted and pulled them in. “Holy shit!” Tianming felt a chill deep in his bones. He was being pulled into one of those holes where chrysalises made their home! “Am I a bee baby? Is it going to keep me inside to raise me?!” That wasn’t a big deal in itself, but the thought of the bee-headed people he had seen inside the ordo of the many caeli he’d looked into struck fear into him. “Don’t tell me that I’ll be turned into one of those things?!”
Everything about the Oldgod Domain was weird, including the green skeletons he found at the very beginning, yet things could still get much weirder! Unsurprisingly, the green tentacle pulled him into one of the hexagonal rooms in the center. It wasn’t that huge, and it was covered in green goo all over. While it looked like disgusting, runny snot, at least it didn’t smell bad. Instead, it smelled sweet, almost like honey.
