Chapter 2449: Heavy Admonishment

Chapter 2449 – Heavy Admonishment

“First: the deaths of the three thousand who were tasked with defending the ancient relic should have been investigated by the Mundus Enforcers. Before uncovering the truth, no individual or organization has the right of exacting vigilante justice. Second: there is no reason whatsoever in the Infinitum Bodhimanda to attack any defensive formation with divine astralships, no matter what. All conflict is to be mediated and adjudicated by the Mundus Enforcers alone. Third: nobody has the right of forming any private military alliance within the Infinitum Bodhimanda—let alone one bearing the ‘rex mundi’ title—for any reason, to undertake the sacred duties that are to be rightfully carried out by the Mundus Enforcers. Otherwise, the Infinitum Bodhimanda has a right to sanction them as traitors to be excised.” Yi Daiyan had personally refuted all of the ebons’ claims in all her authority.

Hearing that, the three hundred million Dongshens passionately cried out in support. Even Dongshen Yue managed to suppress the hate she felt for the luxdaemon rex mundi. She knew that Yi Daiyan was undisputedly in the right on this occasion.

With that, Qi Xuantian knew that their plans over the past two days had failed for good. Our plans were supposed to shake the core of the Infinitum Bodhimanda’s laws, but they’ve all failed…. Had they been victorious before Yi Daiyan could interfere, the ebons could have continued challenging the rex mundi’s authority. However, they had failed and were now a laughingstock for the entire mundus. It was already embarrassing enough, but now there was no way anyone would take their challenges seriously. Should the ebons insist on doing so and continue attacking the Dongshen Clan, it would be akin to going to war against the entire Infinitum Mundus.

That in itself wouldn’t be a problem; however, the fact that they were clearly in the wrong would cause their troops to greatly lose morale, which was a huge taboo. If they didn’t admit their faults, it would only grow worse for them. The hundreds of thousands of astral gods looked at Yi Daiyan, then at the smiling Lin Xiaodao with his green drinking gourd, and couldn’t help but wonder if he had been sent by Yi Daiyan to interfere with this matter. Perhaps he had been her trump card. It was no wonder she had been so patient at the start—she’d been waiting for Chi Hun to fall for the bait! The ebons that’d been kept low had tried to strike out, only to be slapped by her back into hiding. She didn’t give them any chance at all!

The thought of that caused cold sweat to form on Qi Xuantian’s forehead.

“Fall back,” the projection said to Qi Xuantian.

“Understood.” He knew what to do. The ebons weren’t afraid of failure and would rise another day. He completely lowered his head and didn’t argue.

Then the projection shot him a cold glare and announced, “This is the official ruling of the Infinitum Bodhimanda. First: the deaths of the three thousand are being investigated. The truth will be brought to light in due time. Second: the deaths of the eighty thousand ebons occurred as a result of the unsanctioned deployment of divine astralships, so Chi Hun is to be held responsible for it. Third: Chi Hun’s decision to deploy ten ether-class divine astralships, as well as the other three ether-class divine astralships of Shuntian Bolong of the Central Shuntian Clan, Murong Tianhua of the Eastpole Skyshaker Family, and Wu Su of the Fiend Qiangnan Clan, as well as the formation of the Rex Mundi Alliance to attack a defensive formation of the Infinitum Bodhimanda is a gross violation of the Code of Infinitum. All four perpetrators are to be heavily punished! It is the duty of my office to determine the exact nature of this punishment.”

Hearing that, not a single soul dared to utter a sound.

“Chi Hun, being a key figure in the Infinitum Bodhimanda, knowingly violated the laws. As an example, he is sentenced to death!”

The tenth rex mundi had been sentenced to death without question. There had been no precedent for this in the past million years, though with Chi Hun already killed, the sentence only served to further tarnish his reputation. It was clear that Yi Daiyan was trying to dilute the legitimacy of individual clans while reinforcing that of the Infinitum Bodhimanda by emphasizing the status of the convicted in the institution, rather than their own clan, thereby legitimizing the judgment they received. The Archaion Sect, on the other hand, had put too much emphasis on the houses, leading to easier revolts.

“Shuntian Bolong, Murong Tianhua, and Wu Su also led tens of thousands of astral gods to violate our laws. They should be sentenced to death, but taking into account their contributions to the Infinitum Bodhimanda, as well as this being their first offense, not to mention the key role Chi Hun played in swaying their decision, I offer grace and only sentence all three of them to the Ebonic Incarcery for two thousand years.” Her words rang out like metal striking metal, final and unnegotiable.

Being incarcerated for two thousand years as mere accomplices came as quite a shock. Those cosmic cartographers were already around five or six thousand years old, so a sentence of that length was still a life sentence for them! They definitely weren’t being let off light, though it still couldn’t compare to being sentenced to death. The usage of divine astralships in an attack was far too much, and deserving of a death sentence in the first place. The fact that those three had dared to do something like this was that their clans had decided to revolt with the ebons. They had underestimated Yi Daiyan, thinking that she wouldn’t dare act against Infinitum Regal Clans with deep foundations and incredible backings. Yet it seemed that the first rex mundi couldn’t care less about the clans behind them and immediately considered their crimes to have been committed in a personal capacity rather than representative of the will of their clans as a whole. Either way, it was still fully within her right and in accordance with the laws of the Infinitum Bodhimanda.

The Grandnorth Dongshen Clan celebrated and cheered.

“You got what you deserved!”

“That’ll show you!”

“All hail the rex mundi!”

“Nobody is above the law! Don’t let those three off lightly!”

Among the cheering crowd, Lin Xiao and Dongshen Yue stood with odd expressions.

“That crook is just as sneaky as she used to be!” Dongshen Yue said.

“That’s right. The ebons deployed ten ether-class divine astralships. Chi Hun wasn’t the only one that made the call. Qi Xuantian and the others were involved, too, but she pinned all the blame on a dead person. The ebons didn’t even get a real slap on the wrist,” Lin Xiao said.

“She’s leaving some room for the ebons to back away, probably to prevent a total backlash. This way, the ebons wouldn’t have an excuse to go all out and rebel, while she can enjoy the reputation of a generous but just ruler. It’s two birds with one stone.”

“That didn’t stop her from being harsh on those three unlucky fools though. She really demonstrated her authority to everyone watching. Now people will think twice before they try what the ebons attempted, lest they be dealt with just as harshly. Those three probably didn’t even fathom the consequences of their actions. They’re completely stupefied.”

“Do you think that person from the ebons will protect them?”

“What can he even do? He’s incredibly adept at cutting things off to escape, like a lizard abandoning its tail. Now he has no choice but to let us have our victory. Yi Daiyan already gave him a lot of face with her judgments.”

“Xiaodao is no doubt working with her, right?”

“Of course,” Lin Xiao agreed.

“That’s annoying. It’s getting harder and harder for us to take revenge!” Dongshen Yue said with grit teeth.
