Chapter 2918 - Toward the Horizon of Doom
Chapter 2918 – Toward the Horizon of Doom
“Seniors, even if we don’t take revenge, we’ve already come all this way. We have to at least save Fengqing Youmeng. If she doesn’t return with us, the Fengqing Clan will have no hope at all! I believe that none of us want to be oppressed by the Weisheng Clan, right?” Fengqing Youmeng said. He still had really complicated feelings about Fengqing Youmeng, and even hated her to an extent. But that was it; he didn’t wish for her death. If she died, it would be over for him as well. Apart from them as the Fengqing You pair, nobody else in the Fengqing Clan was in the place to steer the clan forward.
“With Weisheng Xu gone, it’s a chance that our Fengqing Clan can take advantage of. All we have to do is to supply some power to the Starshatter Formation!” The elders of the Fengqing Clan were all too happy at Weisheng Xu’s death. At the thought of that, they all made their decisions.
“Let’s remain for vengeance!” That was the joint decision of the elders of the Fengqing Clan.
As expected, those of the Weisheng Clan stood out in opposition. The argument devolved into petty insults pretty quickly. Demoness Yin watched from the sidelines, chuckling all the way. The arguments lasted until the inevitable split of the wonderians into two camps. One of them was mainly comprised of members of the Weisheng Clan, with some Fengqings joining their ranks because they believed it was unreasonable for Demoness Yin to have killed Weisheng Xu. The Fengqing Clan’s camp had the moral low ground. Even so, they were willing to make this gamble to emerge victorious in the end. Once they successfully pushed Fengqing You to the top, they would be able to maintain their hold on the Skydome Mundus.
In the end, around three million wonderians remained. Of the initial eight million, half a million had perished in the earlier skirmishes, while another four and a half million had chosen to leave. No doubt, they would try to reach out to the main administration of the wonderians as they did so. Tianming wouldn’t be able to stop so many people from leaving even if he wanted to, but he was thankful that the pressure from the wonderians had significantly decreased. There was nothing good about having them around.
In the Flameyellow Guard Formation, Wudi allowed wonderians to ascend to leave the Sun and even gave them a helpful push, but anyone that tried to descend would be harshly dealt with. In around eight hours, four million angry and speechless wonderian astral gods had left to return to Wondrium through their xenogates.
As for the three million that stayed, only two hundred thousand of them were on the Sun, with the rest still struggling to pass through the astralguard formation. Even so, it was a huge load off Wudi’s shoulders. It wasn’t even certain that all those troops could make it through the formation to provide power to the Starshatter Formation, not that Demoness Yin cared about their lives. In fact, she secretly cursed Meng Ying. f𝗿𝚎eweb𝗻o𝐯𝐞l.𝚌om
“In other words, killing Meng Ying not only got us the ephemeral world wonder, but also tipped the scales of the wider war!” Tianming said with delight. The drastically lower number of invaders allowed the Flameyellow Guard Formation to not have to stretch itself so thin. It had become even harder for the invaders to enter the Sun, much to Tianming and the others’ relief.
“To hell with you, Meng Ying!” He had been the one to make the threat of killing a trillion denizens of the Sun for each day they spent held up within the Sky Palace Formation. Merely considering that prospect had been incredibly stressful.
There were more than a hundred top elites leading an army of eight million wonderians against them! Coupled with Yi Daiyan’s crude abandonment, there was almost no chance that the Sun would survive. Yet getting rid of Meng Ying was akin to neutralizing more than four million wonderians. That was far more effective than Yi Daiyan’s reinforcements, had she not betrayed them. Even though the Sun was still overwhelmed when it came to elites, they were at least doing much better when it came to astral gods and defensive formations.
“They still need the Starshatter Formation to get to us. We can’t afford to let them set it up!” Lin Xiao said.
“We can rely on but ourselves after Yi Daiyan kicked us to the curb,” Xiaodao said.
The pressure they were facing had been turned into fighting resolve. Back then, they had only been focused on protecting as many people as they could, but now, every single one of them was resolved to fight to the death!
“Meng Ying died and paid for his greed. Next, Shenxi Xingtian, Demoness Yin, Mister Taihe… and even Yi Daiyan’s turn will come! Just watch….” Tianming looked beneath at the trillions of passionate gazes that fell on him. All of them resonated with him, their faces showing a clear desire to protect their world. Many of them were people with whom Tianming was personally familiar; in fact, he knew all of their personal stories.
“In astral wars, mortals and gods are nothing but cannon fodder. It doesn’t matter if we surrender—the enemies outside won’t care about that at all. The wonderians are also itching to massacre our people to vent their rage and wash the Sun with our blood. Even if I can’t save everyone, we can all save ourselves together!”
Everyone was in the same boat that sailed toward the horizon of doom. Nobody believed that they had an option to turn back. Even Tianming’s imperial cultivation path had been forced to desperation. Threats to their lives were omnipresent, and surrendering wouldn’t make a difference.
He took a deep breath and gazed at the seniors that stood by his side. Nobody said a word amidst the heavy atmosphere, but they all knew that there was only one way out of this: fighting to their deaths!
“Let’s see how well the Flameyellow Guard Formation does against the remaining wonderian forces first,” Xiaodao said as he looked at the Starshatter Formation being set up with a razor-sharp gaze.
……
Countless cracks adorned the ground of the Ebonian wilderness. Nova source wildly scattered, forming turbulent storms that ravaged the land. Flames of war were ablaze all over the place.
A gigantic, fiendish head fell from the sky and slammed to the ground, leaving a huge crater and causing hundreds of continents to collapse, instantly turning every living thing to dust regardless of their age or gender. Even gods were vaporized in an instant once the pure nova source blasts hit. City after city fell into ruins.
Fortunately, the countless inhabitants of Ebonia were rather sparsely scattered. Otherwise, even more of them would have perished. The gigantic black head rolled to a stop, its surface showing quite a number of cracks. Even the red glow in its eyes was dim.
“Yi Daiyan!” A feral roar resounded from within. The next instant, a skeletal old man burst out of one of the cracks on the ship in an attempt to escape.
“Ebonopolis has fallen. You only have a million astral gods and ships remaining, and they’re still under pursuit. The ebons have been exterminated by my hand. You’ll soon be the only one that’s left alive. You’ve completely lost everything,” came another cold voice from within the Ebonfiend. With a loud rumble, another hole was made in the ship and a white-haired woman wielding a black-and-gold sword of light emerged, giving pursuit.
