96 Cat Dad and Rich Man
Chapter 96 – Cat Dad and Rich Man
Xiaomao finished all his businesses with the Labor Guild today. He led the gang out of the Labor Guild, heading toward the town plaza next.
However, when they came out of the building, a group of players had been waiting for them.
Absolute Halal and his QUWB Guild members gathered there, staring at Xiaomao, Shepherd, Lucky, and Andrew. They didn’t even bother looking at Magdalene as they thought that she was just an NPC.
“Hello, friends. Could I have a bit of your time?” Halal approached them.
“What is it, munya?” Xiaomao talked while he continued to activate his chameleon skill, hiding his name and his name color.
The players were not stupid. They could still see the silhouette of Xiaomao even though he blended with the surroundings.
“Friend, by chance, are you Xiaomao, the person that put elemental fruits on the auction house?” Halal got to the point.
Realizing that he was found, Xiaomao looked at their names and their levels. Upon noticing that Halal was a high-level user, he stopped acting like a troll.
After all, their levels indicated that they were the first group of players who joined when the PACT price was 5 dollars. Most of them were the children of rich men, who knew about the game’s secrets.
“Yes, it was me, Xiaomao, munya!”
Xiaomao changed his fur color to reveal his appearance. However, because the skill was still active, he didn’t reveal his golden name.
“My real name is Marwan Deeb. I’m the first son of Amir Deeb, the president of Deeb Oil Refinery Incorporate. I would like to ask you if I can add you as a friend so that we can contact each other in the future. Maybe, when you have extra fruits, we can buy them off your hands if you need quick cash.”
Xiaomao paused for a moment as he was nervous. He was never afraid of rude and aggressive brutes, but he was always cautious against polite people as he could never predict what they were thinking.
Fortunately, Halal’s intention was simple – He came here to make friends and purchase his rare goodies.
Xiaomao took a deep breath and extended his tentacle to shake Halal’s hand.
“I’m Xiaomao. Nice to meet you. Of course, I always welcome a friend, munya!”
Both men added each other’s IGN to their friend list. At long last, Xiaomao’s friend list was no longer blank.
Halal was relieved that Xiaomao was not one of the prideful players. He continued with his business.
“Ahem. This might sound rude, but I think you know why I’m trying to befriend you. By chance, do you still have one of the fruits for sale? I’m willing to pay 4 million dollars for one of any kind.”
Xiaomao gulped.
Four million?
Xiaomao had been playing the game for less than a week, but four million dollars was presented to him on a silver platter!
The catopus took several deep breaths to control himself. He looked up with regrets.
“I’m so sorry, munya. All my fruits are in the auction house. You’ll have to compete with the others for it, munya.”
“I see. That’s unfortunate,” Halal was disappointed, but he was still smiling.
Xiaomao also knew when to strike for an opportunity. He pulled out the super rare spellbook, which he had prepared for this occasion earlier.
“I don’t have the fruit on me, but I have an extra super rare spell book for sale, munya. Are you interested?”
Halal and his friends widened their eyes as spellbooks were extremely rare. These books only dropped from elite monsters, and the chance of obtaining one was less than 1%. Moreover, nobody with the right mind would sell their super-rare skill books or spell books since all rich folks knew what they could affect their real bodies.
One of Halal’s followers browsed the auction house on the website to check the current market price. Unfortunately, no one was selling any super-rare-graded spell book, but the lowest bidding price was a million dollars.
From a regular gamer’s perspective, these bidders were insane as they overbid for a digital item. But from Xiaomao and Halal’s point of view, the price was reasonable as it related to their future superpower.
“Can I see the spell’s description?” Halal was interested.
“Sure, munya!”
Xiaomao opened a trade menu and put the spell on the trading item slot, but he didn’t confirm the trade.
A system screen appeared in front of Halal. He tabbed the spell icon.
.
<strong>Shaman Fireball</strong>
This spell is an upgraded version of the fire mage’s basic spell – Fireball. The basic version can only hit one target, and the spell damage is limited. However, Shaman Fireball can hit enemies from 500 meters away, and its firepower is not weaker than intermediate spells.
<strong>Spell Type:</strong> Active, AOE
<strong>Rarity:</strong> Super Rare
<strong>Requirement:</strong> Level 50, 750 Fire Spiritual Root
<strong>Class Restriction:</strong> Mage, Shaman
<strong>Cost:</strong> 500 MP
<strong>Cooldown:</strong> 30 Seconds
<strong>Effects:</strong>
– Deal 80% magic damage and inflict [Burn] to enemies in the targeted area.
– Decrease targets’ ATK and DEF by 5% for one minute. The effect may stack up to 3 times.
.
Halal dropped his jaw. He looked at Xiaomao in disbelief.
“Are you sure that you want to sell this to me?”
Xiaomao revealed an innocent smile, “Of course, munya! We’re friends, right?”
“… Right. We’re friends! Hahahaha!”
Halal burst into laughter and pressed the cancel button to close the trade offer.
“Excuse me. Please give me a moment. I need to prepare my money. Oh, do you prefer USDT or cash?”
“If possible, USDT or BUSD please, munya! Wired transfers take 3-5 business days. It’s a bit inconvenient for sellers.”
“Good. Can I have your wallet address? Oh, can I use the BEP20 network? I don’t like the Ethereum Chain.”
“Sure. Give me a moment, munya.”
Xiaomao logged out of the game to check his hardware wallet address as he couldn’t remember 30ish alphanumeric characters which looked like a nuclear missile launch code. He needed to copy the address and sent it to his game message so that he could give the exact address to Halal.
.
Five minutes later after Xiaomao logged out to copy-paste his wallet address, he got back in the game and gave the string of alphanumeric characters to Halal.
After sending the address, Xiaomao remembered that he hadn’t asked for the price.
“How much will you give me for the spell book, by the way, munya?”
“Is 1.5 million enough?” Halal offered 50% higher than the lowest bidding price as he also didn’t know how much he should offer.
“1.5?” Xiaomao furrowed his brows and pursed his lips.
‘Welp. If I remember correctly, it was sold for one million when it first came out, and nobody managed to sell it further than a million. I should be satisfied with this offer.’
Seeing Xiaomao’s ugly expression, Halal thought that his offer was too low and offended him. He raised the price.
“2 million! How about it?!”
“Huh?”
Xiaomao was taken aback. He was absentminded for a second, but this rich idiot was jacking up the price without his consent.
“Err, not enough? How about this? This is all my monthly allowance. 3 million dollars!”
“…”
Xiaomao was speechless. He stared into Halal’s eyes.
He was offended, but what he was angry about was not the price of the spellbook.
It was Halal’s allowance.
‘Spoiled bastard! Three freaking million for a monthly allowance?! Jesus Christ, you need to learn how to use your money, bro!’
Without saying anything, Xiaomao opened the trade menu and put the spell book in the trade slot.
“3 million?” Halal fidgeted, waiting for Xiaomao’s reaction and confirmation.
DING
When the trade menu appeared in front of him, Halal was delighted.
“3 million, right?! Okay! I’ll send you the money right now!”
