Chapter 101 - Championship (19)
Chapter 101 – Championship (19)
The moment Claire's assassin started to recover her HP, the opponent's life also began to deteriorate.
It could be seen as the Lee Gaming squad fighter's full HP was slowly transferred to the assassin.
"Seeing this HP bar is so enjoyable! No offense to the fighter of the Lee Gaming squad. She is also a great player. But because I am mostly an assassin user it felt great to see this high life steal," the younger commentator spoke while his voice become so soft.
"It's not easy to play an assassin in the game," the older commentator casually commented.
"Yes! I know how hard it is to play this assassin role. I'll have to admit that this kind of life steal is very satisfying to see!" the younger commentator chirped as his eyes glistened. For some reason, this scene brought some tears to the side of his eyes.
"Wow, you are actually on a verge of tears. Tears of joy!? You are really crying?" the older commentator playfully said after noticing that his companion was wiping the side of his eye.
"AHAHA, you have caught me there! It's too good to see this scene!" the younger commentator responded. He did not deny his tears for he was really moved by what he saw. For him, it was normal if he become emotional.
The assassin may be terrifying in the game, but for the assassin user to reach this level of dominance, the player using this character must jungle non-stop and her rotation should be balanced. Everything must be done in the quickest possible way to increase EXP and Gold.
Assassin players must increase their level above all the other players in the early game.
If the assassin failed to grow earlier than the others, the entire squad would also be placed in a problematic situation.
Life steal was the ability that can be activated using an item. In the game, there are several items that all characters can choose for them to use. There were physical items, magical items, and defensive items. Every role had a corresponding life steal item.
In the case of Claire, the red blades she had just purchased earlier when her character was still immobilized allowed her to gain this ability. It was a physical item with the highest life steal.
And since she purchased two of the said items, the effect of her life steal was also multiplied.
She may have been suppressed earlier on, but the two opponents were easily outplayed by the assassin.
The Lee Gaming squad fighter did not have a chance to step its foot on the ground after she was snatched in the air. She was slain in an instant.
Claire's damage and life steal were both equally high.
In theory, this kind of character stats was too hard to achieve by a player. To accomplish this, they needed a tremendous amount of gold to buy three items that would give extra true damage. The said item was the most expensive among all items in the game. Then, another two items of the highest life steal. And this life steal item cost higher than normal blades too.
"Woah! No defensive items! All are for physical attack and life steal! I have to use this build next time I'll play."
"I will try to use these items in my next game too. Hope I can be terrifying like this Almighty Killer assassin!"
"This assassin is the perfect core! Her fingers are fast, and she easily changed her items! That quick reaction and solution to her earlier trouble were too admirable!"
No player has ever practiced this kind of build in the game ever since. But some players had already thought of this. Yet, they were not able to deploy the kind of build effectively. They thought that it was impossible to play efficiently using such items.
But now that Claire had displayed how terrifying these blades were, everyone immediately felt inspired to use the build.
"So, this kind of build needs to have a quick hand speed. And this can only be applied during combat!" one tourist who was wearing a pro player jacket looked very contented.
"Luckily, we joined the hype and bought the ticket of this tournament!" his companion nudged his elbow slightly.
Both of them had also flown from their district to see the tournament. It was a random decision by the two to buy the ticket and they had no expectations of what would be the tournament looked like. Now, they felt extremely satisfied.
The agility of the assassin was also on the top level making her finished off the two in just less than a minute.
Double Kill.
"Good, good!" the rest of the Chronos players instantly praised Claire when her kills were displayed on their screen.
"I'm full build and fully buffed! I can kill anyone who will dare to block my way," Claire stated with a grin on her face. Her words may sound arrogant but anyone who could hear it would still agree with her.
"Yes, you can!" Sofia chuckled.
On the side of the Lee Gaming squad, Brent raised his eyebrow after seeing that two of his companions had died in the hands of Claire. The assassin also killed him earlier, thus, he did not blame the two.
"Sorry, the assassin's life steal is too high!" the fighter user mumbled. Her face turned red in embarrassment for she expected that she would be able to kill the Chronos assassin with the help of their assassin too.
"I did not expect that the Chronos assassin would change her items. There was almost no time for her to go and shop for a different item. But I guess, she is really good!" the Lee Gaming assassin user followed.
"It's my fault! I attacked the assassin first… thinking that I could kill her. I should have just stayed away and continue to defend the tower in the top lane," the fighter user admitted.
Their squad had already planned to give their all to defend their base. But now, three of their members had been slain.
The remaining members could only laugh at their situation.
Brent's marksman take over the defense on the side of the top lane and tried his best to stop the Chronos assassin. Since he can attack in range fight, and Claire's assassin needed close combat, Brent could still put up a fight.
However, since William's tank was dealing with both the other four Chronos squad members and also the giant mutant, their focus on defending both two lanes was very unstable.
"I have to return to our spawn area to recover my HP!" William announced after his tank character dealt heavy blows. Without waiting for the response of Brent, he quickly moved towards their base.
Just as he thought that he could recover his HP after arriving in the spawn area, his mobile screen turned gray!
"What the f*ck! F*CK THIS TANK!" William cursed loudly. The subject of his curse was Sofia's CEO UNRIVALED.
It had been his habit to rotate his character whenever he would recover his HP on the spawned area. But the moment his character rotated, the hook from Sofia's tank arrived on where he was standing and his character was snatched out. NO, in fact, because of his rotation, Sofia had seen the opportunity to attack him!
William's tank had not even gotten a 5 percent recovery for his HP when his character was dragged towards the opponent area!
Then, his character died. His anger also exploded!
Brent's gunner who was the only survivor tried his best to attack but it was not enough.
The giant NPC started attacking their base and all Chronos players followed. They ignored the attack from the gunner and soon after, the result was quickly announced!
Sofia smiled while looking at the beautiful words on her mobile screen…
VICTORY!
Her companions were already jumping out from their seats, yelling in happiness and joy!
On the side of the Lee Gaming squad, they do not look so defeated also. They even clapped their hands and congratulated the Chronos squad.
Brent was the first to leave his seat and walked towards the opposite lounge where the Chronos squad was occupying.
"Good game!" He said while grinning.
Upon seeing that Brent had joined them, the members suppressed their laughter and stood respectfully.
"Thank you, young master Brent!" Clark was the first to speak.
"Well Played!" Sofia looked up and stood from her seat. She then extended her hand and offered the man a handshake. Soon, the two squads exchanges handshakes politely.
"And this is the end of our tournament! Good Game Well Played to both squads! Better luck next time to those who were defeated," the older commentator officially announced the end of the game.
All audience clapped their hands while waiting for the formal announcement.
The host quickly appeared on stage bringing a huge cheque in his hand. It was the prize money for the tournament.
"Ehem! Ladies and gentlemen may I present the champion of our first-ever online tournament. The Chronos squad!"
Sofia and her team easily went towards the stage and joined the host.
"So, let us see the real identity of the players behind the characters in the game. Let us start from their squad leader!" the host initiated while the audience were busy posting their feelings on their social media accounts.
