Chapter 238 – Dealing With Boss Wang’s Stubborn Attitude (1)

"Ohh… T-this… Boss Wang… he actually canceled my call!?" Jing Jing stared at her screen with disbelief in her tone. Her eyes blinked a few times and a frown creased on her forehead.

Sofia looked surprised too. "He may have accidentally pressed the reject button on his screen? What do you think, sister Jing?" she supplied.

"I doubt that. But let me try and contact his number again. Maybe he did accidentally reject my call," Jing Jing agreed. Then, out of nowhere, a realization suddenly occurred to her. She exhaled and clenched her fingers that were holding her phone.

"Damn! If I know better, I think Boss Wang was still probably bitter with my remarks and warning about the scam investments last time?! Ha! This old boss is sometimes unreasonable! Mixing business and personal issues!" she added and attempted to ring the contact number for the second time.

Sofia finished her lemonade and put the empty cup on the table. She did remember about this investment that Jing Jing was talking about. It was also the reason why Jing Jing was fired from her previous job.

"Even if boss Wang is upset and does not want to speak to you, he is still obliged to open his line of communication with us. His company is the private press of the Chronos squad. He is bounded by a contract with us." Sofia emphasized.

"Right… But sometimes this old boss is too stubborn. Miss Sofia, his character is actually hard to deal with," Jing Jing said and then waited for her call to be answered. However, just like the first attempt, the man declined her second attempt. Now there was no chance of the man to have accidentally clicked the reject button on his screen. It was clear that he really did not want to speak to Jing Jing!

"Really unbelievable!" Jing Jing sighed and took a sip of her lemonade to cool off her temper.

"If we cannot reach him using his number, then, let's pay him a visit to his office. There is still enough time to go there," Sofia started glancing at the wall where a vintage wall clock was conspicuously placed.

The wall clock that was hung in the café had pointed towards 3:15 PM. And she would go to her class at 4:00 PM. She still have a spare of 45 minutes which was a lot of time in Sofia's mind.

"I don't know… the last time I spent to the press company, all my colleagues were angry at me too. They really think I was slandering when I told them that the investments that they were doing were a scam. I've really enraged them," Jing Jing bitterly reported her experience on her last day at work in the press company. She had even vividly remembered the faces of her angry colleagues.

"They are angry at you right now because they have high hopes with the investment plans. And since you told them that it was a scam… it was indeed infuriating. But, it is a fact that it was a scam investment and soon, it would destroy really them. Good thing you have distanced yourself as early as now, sister Jing," Sofia started. 'Just wait until the payout of this investment and they would learn a great lesson,' she mentally added.

"I don't know. Miss Sofia, when you warn me that it was a scam, I was convinced. But, when I told my colleague about it, I have not convinced persuaded them to stop putting in their money. Instead, they were furious that I speak ill of the investment," Jing Jing loudly exhaled.

"It's not your fault, sister Jing. Once the promoter of that investment runs away with their investment money, their anger would be directed towards their own selves for trusting too much," Sofia said and grabbed her empty cup.

"You are right, Miss Sofia. They would learn their lesson for not listening to my warning," Jing Jing nodded her head in agreement.

"Yes. It would be an expensive lesson that they must pay with their hard earned money and experience it personally. Such an investment scheme was too good to be real, too good to be true," Sofia said and stood from her seat. Since they were seated near the exit door, she easily threw her empty cup in the recycle bin that was located on the corner.

"Some people like me could learn from the experiences of others. I know you are right about warning me of that scam, Miss Sofia. But other people would still want to experience the same situation in order to learn the lesson," Jing Jing commented. She also finished the last bite of her chicken sandwich and took the cup of her lemonade. Then, they exited in the café quietly.

Meanwhile, the female staff was still bragging about meeting Sofia and having a picture with her. She had told the group of customers that had entered and approached her desk. But when she pointed at the table where Sofia left, it was already empty.

"I'm telling you, they were the customers that sat there! I really met CEO UNRIVALED user!" the female staff insisted with full of confidence in her voice.

"AHH… you are just bluffing us to get someone to buy in this café! That's shameless!" one of the customers complained.

"No! Why would I bluff at you guys? Look at this picture!" the female staff stated and showed them the picture of Sofia and her together.

"Ohh… it is really CEO UNRIVALED!"

"Wow! You are indeed lucky to meet her in person! Why did you not point it earlier where she was still sitting on there! We could have a picture with her too!" another customer commented.

"Well, you have no luck. She was with Ms. Jing Jing but, I did not notice that they already left. Maybe the group of you had scared them away!" the female staff playfully said and kept the phone back to her side.

"We are still customers right now! How can you be rude to us!"

"My my my, what customers? Where are your orders? Come, tell me your orders so that I can consider you as customers. Otherwise, you and you and all of you…" the female staff said and pointed at the group members one by one. She made a pause and gritted her teeth. " You are all gossipers here if you don't give your orders!"

"HAHAHA… so what if we are gossipers? We came here to meet CEO UNRIVALED. If we have met her, then we would definitely order on your menu!" one of them reasoned out.

"Nevermind. Let's just pre-order the ticket to the regional Esports tournament. Then, we can definitely meet a lot of pro players!"

"Yeah, I have pre-ordered my ticket already. Some fans also urged the organizers of the tournament to make the participants have a showdown match. I hope it will happen! If you have not voted for a showdown special, go to the website. There is an ongoing voting poll for that event!"

"Ahh… but the list of participants for the regional Esports tournament had always been public on the game website. And every time I looked at the list, I did not see the Chronos squad on it! What if they won't join?"

"If they don't join the regional tournament, then, it's actually understandable. Those gamers are students. And studies for exams in March must be their priorities. Their parents must surely be against them playing at such an important time!"

"That would be so sad! I want to see them play the ban mode in the official tournament. It would be interesting gameplay if they join!"

While the group started to make their speculations among themselves, the expression of the female staff who were listening to them had become darker and darker.

"They will participate for sure!" the female staff announced in a loud voice.

"Ohh… oh… did CEO UNRIVALLED tell you about their participation?" one of the group quickly questioned.

"No. I just know that they will join. Now, if you won't order don't loiter in here!" she snarled at them with an intimidating look.

"Aiiyyaa, how can you get a customer if you are like this," another customer grumbled before the group started to exit the café.

The female staff glared at the retreating figures until they vanished from her sight.

"Based on their squad leader's attitude, I'm sure they would participate and join the tournament! I'm certain that they will participate! If you don't believe me then why not make a bet?" she uttered even though no other person can hear her anymore. Not long after, she posted her picture with Sofia in her social media account and sat below the counter where Sofia had first seen her.

'My idol says not to play while on duty. I will follow her advise. So, I can only check what's trending now and play game after my shift.' she reasoned in her mind while taking comfort in her secret base.

If Sofia could hear her thoughts, she would definitely lecture this female staff again and put emphasis on her point about avoiding being distracted while working!
