Chapter 253 - Rainy Night (1)

Chapter 253 – Rainy Night (1)

As the night went deeper, the rain also poured harder. Most people had switched off the lights in their units and had gone to sleep. It was just too easy to feel sleepy with the kind of weather they have.

"Heiz, you should sleep. Don't mind us. We are used to staying up over midnight. Your baby might wake up later," Sofia spoke after realizing that it had been past 10 PM. She just noticed the time after reading the chat message from Jing Jing confirming the publicity of the wedding ceremony and their plans. Everything was settled and Boss Wang will start the formal announcement tomorrow.

"Okay. I did feel a little sleepy. My baby would usually wake up at 1 AM," Heiz agreed and spread a blanket on the floor, just next to the sofa. She was indeed forcing herself not to sleep yet as she felt rude to sleep early that the owner of the place. Now that Sofia thoughtfully suggested for her to rest, she felt relieved.

"How about you transfer your baby to my bed? You can sleep together there comfortably. I can sleep on the sofa," Sofia offered for the second time. But, Heiz was not thick-faced and only shook her head.

"Are you sure you are okay to sleep on the floor? It's raining and the floor is cold. Even if you have blankets, you can still get sick from the coldness on it," Claire emphasized as she watched Heiz placing her blankets on the floor. There was no problem with the baby for the little girl was safely tucked and placed on the sofa.

"Just use my bed. Don't be shy. Bring Hazel with you. Come!" Sofia insisted and gestured for Heiz to pick her baby to follow her.

"It's inappropriate, sis. I'm fine here," Heiz said.

"It's just the four of us. Your baby and you. Claire and me. There is no standard of what is appropriate. Come!" Sofia sternly spoke.

"That's right. Just use the bed, Heiz. Sofia rarely sleeps. You'll never know, she might just stay awake for the rest of the night," Claire added.

"Ahh… I will sleep on the sofa. My pimples will triplicate if I don't sleep," Sofia sighed. Her hand subconsciously touched her jaw and massaged the area where small pimples exist.

"I'm really fine here. Staying inside a roof is already a huge favor. Thank you very much! I don't think I will be able to sleep in your bed. Good night, guys!" Heiz reasoned and quickly laid down her body on the pile of blankets.

Seeing that they can no longer change the mind of Heiz, Sofia just nodded her head. "Okay, suit yourself."

"I think my phone is fully charged now. Where do you want to play, Sof? Do you want to come with me?" Claire suddenly asked.

"Yeah, I'll come with you. Good night, Heiz. I'll bring my key and will lock the door. Don't open the door if someone will knock later," Sofia said. She grabbed the key to her unit, her phone, and charger as well as a bottle of water. Then, the two of them exited the unit.

When the lock of the door in Sofia's apartment clicked, Heiz immediately sat up and stared at the empty space.

'For the first time in forever, I have felt safe and peaceful! It had been so long since I experience to live in a decent place,' she thought.

After a while, Heiz looked around and saw a notebook and a few books that were placed on the mini table.

Heiz reached the notebook and flipped it open. But, on the first page, what she saw were sketches of maps in the battlefield that Sofia had drawn to form a strategy for their gameplay.

"What are these drawings? I did not remember having this kind of lesson in my school," she muttered.

She looked at the sketches with much interest but no matter how she tried to understand the details written on the notebook page, she could not comprehend its content. She continued to flip in another page until she felt like her eyes were about to close.

Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep with the notebook in her hand.

Meanwhile, Claire stared at the bottled water in Sofia's hand. It was raining, and it's rare for someone to feel thirsty.

"Did you eat dinner, Sof?" she curiously asked while they continued to walk down the staircase.

"I did not have a cash to buy food. But, I'm fine," Sofia easily replied.

"You have no money?" Claire stopped in her tracks. How could it be? With so many plans that we have, it never occurred to her mind that Sofia would be out of money.

"There is money, I just don't have cash with me. I prepared a paper bill for my food but I've used that money to pay for this watch. I can live with water, tonight," Sofia said and raised her wrist for Claire to see the watch.

"Ohh… then, tomorrow?" Claire raised her eyebrows and glance at the watch. She wanted to ask if Sofia would have a cash for tomorrow or none.

"I have money, Claire. I did not bring them when I left with sister Jing this morning. And it's not convenient to go out and buy food. It's raining harder," Sofia giggled.

"Okay, well… Clark and Joey are out. I might as well tell them to come over and bring food?" Claire suggested.

"There is no need. I am fine doing water therapy," Sofia replied.

The two finally reached Claire's apartment and Sofia settled on the chair.

'Unexpectedly, this body is more energetic when I thought of playing games!' Sofia pondered. She had been so busy the entire day and was sure to fall asleep early. But, after Claire told her to play, her sleepiness vanished right away!

Sofia unlocked her phone and logged in to her account. After entering the game, she collected the daily benefits of her account and checked all her in-game mails.

"Ahh… it's not yet fully charged," Claire spoke on the corner after checking her phone that was still connected to the outlet with its charger. She then started to compose a message and quickly sent it.

~ To: Clark <3

If it's not trouble, will you come over and bring us food? Sofia did not eat her dinner. Only if it's convenient for you to come.

"It's okay. Just wait for it to be fully charged. They are not yet online," Sofia told Claire but her attention was still on the system mails.

"Alright. What are you checking?" Claire inquired and went behind her.

"There is another upcoming update in the game again," Sofia said. "Look at this mail. The game will adjust all the skills of the summoner character. How odd!"

It was indeed odd for Sofia. She had recently paid a lot of time to study the current skills of the summoner character. But, the update says major changes and revamp of the character will happen.

"I can't really relate to summoner character. I don't know how to play it. And no one really picks that character, Sof, except you!"  Claire commented and did not bother to read the mail.

"That's true. I might be the only player who would take notice of the update.. Others will for sure ignore this mail," Sofia agreed and continued to read the information on her screen.
