Chapter 34 - Good Game
Chapter 34 – Good Game
Series of cheers ensued as the audience stood from their seats and clapped their hands wildly. Such action was considered a gesture of respect from the crowd. The kind of admiration for the gameplay worthy of a standing ovation. The match was too satisfying that these people did not care if it was just an elimination round.
On the large screen, the word 'VICTORY!' was already displayed as the third match ended.
The Chronos squad successfully destroyed the base of the Noob Amateurs squad and finished the third round with flying colors.
"GOOD GAME!!!"
"CHRONOS SQUAD NICE ONE!"
"NICE! NICE!!!"
Several of the audience shouted their cheers as if they were converted as fans by the Chronos squad. The entire bleachers were bustling with joy.
On the side of the commentators, both of them also rose from their seats and clapped their hands enthusiastically. It took them a moment to clear their excitement and focus back on their job.
"That concludes our third match! Congratulations to the victors of this round! The Chronos squad is really an underdog for this tournament! We cannot underestimate the new squads. This one is proof for us that even the new squads could also perform like a beast!" the commentator announced and sat back on his seat comfortably. His partner was still standing while gazing at the player's lounge where the Chronos squad was about to walk out.
"The game is over! It was exceedingly amazing! Now, the players of the fourth match are preparing. I'm sure they are also a bit shock by what they have watched on the Chronos gameplay!" the second commentator finally took a deep breath as he spoke on his microphone.
Sofia and her team slightly bowed at the audience before they strode towards the third booth.
"Good Game!" the players of the Noob Amateurs squad extended their greetings. There was nothing but sincerity on their faces even though they were eliminated.
"You guys are good! We will cheer for you!" one of the members also gave a thumbs up to them and spoke of his support.
"Good Game!" the Chronos squad players humbly returned the favor in a friendly and professional tone.
As the team arrived inside their booth, some squad also shook their hands and offered a welcoming smile to them as they exchange their 'good games' greetings. They were even slightly embarrassed for their initial treatment of the team.
Good Game. Such a term can be taken as a malicious insult or compliment, depending on the situation. Sometimes, player use this term to vent their anger on their teammates while there are other times that they use it to praise a fellow gamer. At that point, all the players were meant to praise each other in a good way.
"We really won! I can't believe it!" Clark mumbled. His face revealed an ecstatic expression as he took a seat on the sofa. Stephen went towards the vending machine and got them a bottle of water to drink.
"Yeah, but don't be so happy yet. This is just the elimination round. We haven't won the tournament. We are still on the first step of winning." Joey playfully rubbed the head of Clark to mess up some of his hair and reminded him of their situation.
"Yes, hehe… I am just happy!" Clark replied and comb his hair using his fingers. He took his phone and saw a message from his brother congratulating him and his teammates. Without a second thought, he sent a message of thanks.
"Yey!!! Good job to us guys! Let's do our best for our next match!" Claire grinned. She casually sat down on the sofa and leaned her back comfortably.
A warm and easy smile also appeared on Sofia's lips while looking at her teammates joy. Her soul had experienced too many triumphs in her previous life and the victory the Chronos team that they had achieved in the elimination round brought back a nostalgic feeling in her heart.
"Well done!" Sofia firmly said and sat beside Claire.
Meanwhile, on a few miles away from this venue where the district tournament was held, one media personality who was about to prepare for her Valentine's date received a call from her boss.
"Jing Jing, have you checked the social media forum today?" the boss asked after the lady answered her phone. His tone was slightly rushed as if he was in a hurry.
"Boss Wang, I did not check my phone yet. But, I'm sure social media will be full of romantic posts from couples. Today, the celebrities would definitely dominate the ranking. Why do you ask, boss Wang?" Jing Jing responded while staring at her reflection in the vanity mirror.
"Not romantic posts! The tournament of our district had gone to the top 2 subjects of the talk! The netizens had been talking this for about an half a minute from the initial post! It is circulating and the numbers of people talking were raising rapidly!" boss Wang informed the lady.
"Ohh… Boss Wang, I know this tournament. It is held in the public gymnasium. You have said that this is the top 2. Why do you sound so surprised with this ranking?" Jing Jing questioned while slowly placing lipstick on her lips. She would be meeting her boyfriend after an hour and they would celebrate their Valentine's day in the famous park of the district.
"Aiiyya, this is a big scope! The top 1 is the squad participating in the tournament. People were talking about the dark horse Chronos squad. Go and check what is happening in there before the other press would snatch this opportunity to us!" Boss Wang quickly ordered.
Jing Jing went silent and grabbed her phone that was placed near her expensive face cream. She instantly opened the forum site and was also shocked by the ranking. Normally, celebrity couples would take the lead of the ranking during this day as they show off their lavish and romantic dates. But right now, it was really about a game!
"Boss Wang, I will cover this!" Jing Jing said as her eyes lit up. She smiled at her reflection and quickly ended the call.
