Ceo Unrivaled

Chapter 36 - Betrayal

Chapter 36 – Betrayal

"I hope I could get a hand with this rank 1 trending topic, a quick interview of these players should be enough! If not, rank 2 is also fine. I'm sure they will not reject an interview session with me." Jing Jing muttered while running some background check of her target. She searched different site about the Chronos squad, however, there was only a little information she could read about the group.

After a few minutes of searching, Jing Jing came to a conclusion that the group had just got their popularity today!

"Impressive! The netizens had really surpassed the influence of the press. They made the issue viral without the help of any publicity from our industry!"

In the past, the press and big companies could only pull off certain issues and make them popular. However, because of technology, the citizens on the internet which were termed 'netizens' had paved their way to becoming more influential just by using their accounts and posting daily topics.

Another video clipped appeared on her feeds. It was the FDS Press Company who were broadcasting their road travel.

"Alright folks, we will start hunting our famous celebrity couple! Our destination will be on the uptown for this morning! Then, we will transfer downtown in the afternoon. Are you ready? Let's do this!" she watched as a woman spoke on the screen and announced the agenda of their company. It was nothing unusual as all the press company would usually have the same agenda.

Jing Jing did not mind too much of what she saw and locked her phone. She then wore her uniform neatly and fixed herself. The pink lipstick she wore accentuated perfectly on her skin. A single spray from her expensive perfume made a finishing touch of her beauty routine.

Carefully, Jing Jing hooked her ID on the chest pocket of her uniform and grabbed her tools. She took one last glance in the mirror and smiled generously.

Not long after, she hopped in her car and quickly drove towards the public gymnasium of the district.

As Jing Jing parked her car, she received a text message from her boss. She ignored her phone and maneuvered the steering wheel to perfectly made parallel parking with the other cars.

After turning off the engine, she swiftly opened her inbox. Her boss informed her that a rival press company was already doing live coverage of the tournament and that the company had gotten a hold of the organizer of the event.

Jing Jing paused and thought for a few seconds about how to respond to the message. Her fingers were lightly tapping on the back cover of her phone while her head was tilted slightly.

Before she could type her response, an incoming call notification appeared on the screen of her phone.

"Hello, Boss Wang!" Jing Jing promptly answered.

"Aiyyaaa, Jing Jing! Where are you? The FDSS Press Company had broadcast a live interview on the organizers of the event!" Boss Wang told her. There was a slight disappointment in his tone of voice.

"Boss Wang, I just arrived at the venue. I am still in the parking lot. Perhaps, the company also saw the viral posts in their social media accounts?" Jing Jing suggested the possibility. She was oblivious of the betrayal from her boyfriend and she could only think of one reason why their rival company had beat their opportunity. There was no other explanation other than the post as it can be seen by anyone.

"Maybe. Jing Jing, you must try your best to find interesting scope. Since the FDSS already has the organizers of the event, maybe you can get hold of the Chronos players?" Boss Wang ordered. He could not also blame Jing Jing or anyone. All he hoped was that they could somehow get another interesting scope in the tournament.

"Yes, Boss Wang. I will try." Jing Jing agreed quickly.

When Jing Jing got out of her car, she immediately went to the entrance of the building. The lady did not need any tickets as she was officially employed in a press company. District 7 had given them certain privileges to get a scope freely in public gatherings and events as the publicity would also be beneficial for the district.

"Good Morning, Ma'am Jing Jing! It is good to see you! Here are some keepsakes you can have for this tournament." the guard politely greeted the lady and handed her a cute brooch as well.

The scribbled words on the item were, "I WAS THERE! District 7 1st Online Tournament"

Jing Jing smiled and took the brooch from the guard. The guard had recognized her right away that he had let her slipped inside without asking for any identification.

"Thank you, brother!" Jing Jing said and quickly move her feet towards the crowd.

Out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed the crew of their rival company that was still interviewing the organizer of the tournament. Her eyes widened in shock and small lines of a frown appeared on her forehead.

There was three staff of the FDSS Press Company. One female interviewer and one cameraman. Then there was another person standing next to the cameraman.

"How could it be?!" Jing Jing balled her palms and formed it into a fist. The female interviewer and the cameraman were the same staff that had once announced that they would be hunting celebrity couples for Valentine's Day!

Jing Jing may be oblivious but she was smart when it comes to distinguishing the overall situation that involved her career. She had been in the press industry for years that she could quickly make insights into what was happening.

There was only for the interviewer and the cameraman appeared in the gymnasium instead of the uptown part of the district. There was someone who had tipped them!

Her gaze darted to the man standing next to the cameraman and her face turned sour. She recognized the man. It was her boyfriend's friend! Although they have not officially introduced, she saw several posts in her boyfriend's account of the two hanging out together with their group of friends.

"Drake you bastard!" Jing Jing cursed coldly. She did not need to be a genius in guessing for her to know what her boyfriend had done!

The feeling of being betrayed did not fuel sad feelings on her. Instead, it sparked the anger and fury within her heart.

Her phone suddenly rings…

"Speaking of the scum!" Jing Jing mumbled as her phone displayed a notification of an incoming call from her boyfriend.
