Chapter 39 – Jing Jing’s Faults
The FDSS Press Company finished their interview with the head organizer of the tournament. Their live video was quickly noticed by the netizens. The reactions and compliments flooded towards their company for their promptness.
The ranking of viral posts in social media gradually changed. Another tagged became trending. It was #FDSSOnlineCoverage. The cameraman continued to get a live video but the female staff decided to take a rest with the two other men.
"Young master Drake, your tip is perfect! We became trending in just half an hour!" the female staff comically praised Drake for instructing them to get a live interview with the organizers of the event.
"Thank you for your effort. Now, let's take a break and get some hot coffee and snacks." Drake stated as the three of them walked in the hallway and were about to exit the gymnasium.
Drake acted normal, like his indifferent demeanor. It was very clear that he was not affected by his breakup with Jing Jing. On contrary, he started flirting with the female staff of his father's company.
"So, Annie, any plans for you tonight?" Drake asked the female staff. He did not really know of this girl but the left side of her blouse had her name 'Annie' embroidered on it.
When the female staff heard Drake called her name, she felt overjoyed. The man never called the employees of his father's company using their names! Annie instantly believed that the man had some feeling for her.
"Tonight I suppose… I will have a good rest. There is nothing much to do with such an average woman like me, young master." the female staff answered.
"In this case, let me invite you to a fancy restaurant for a dinner?" Drake offered a small grin to her.
His reservation had been made a week ago for him and Jing Jing to celebrate. However, since Jing Jing had found out his ulterior motives, Drake conveniently used his reservation for another woman!
To say, the man was just a classic playboy!
The female staff quickly blushed when she heard the invitation. She was aware that Drake was the heir of the company that she was working with. Thus, the man could be considered as a big shot because of his future wealth. "Young master Drake, I am honored to be invited by you."
The other man grinned from ear to ear. "Ahh, the young master had beaten my chance to invite you, Annie! Have fun the two of you tonight then."
"Hehe, Bro, you are too slow!" Drake joked and smacked the shoulder of the man. The three of them laughed together as they stepped outside of the gymnasium.
In the corner of his eye, Drake noticed Jing Jing standing alone. The lady was staring at the clouds. The sun reflected her bright skin that it gave her presence looked otherwordly.
Drake momentarily halted his steps to gawked at Jing Jing. It was the first time he saw her captivating look.
As if the woman felt the intensity of his gaze, she turned her head and met his eyes. In an instant, a scowl appeared on her face. Drake quickly looked away. But the female staff have noticed his reaction and followed the direction of where he was looking.
"Ehh, young master Drake, what a coincidence! Isn't that the staff from the WG Studios and Media Firm? This is our rival company!" Annie announced confidently. She did not know about the relationship between Jing Jing and Drake, so she quickly laced her hand on Drake's arms and pulled him in the direction of Jing Jing.
Drake rolled his eyes as he prepared himself for a drama. He planned to act
"Yo! Is this the famous figure of WG Studios and Media Firm? Our company has established an exclusive contract with the organizers of this tournament. It seems that you are late and were left with nothing to cover her?" Annie said while casting a look of contempt towards Jing Jing.
"Congratulations," Jing Jing muttered dryly as she glanced at the group before she walked away.
She contemplated whether she would return inside the gymnasium or not. When she heard that their rival company had secured not just a contract but an exclusive contract between the organizers of the tournament, she assumed that all of the players would also be interviewed by her rival company. In this case, Jing Jing had really lost her chance to get an interesting scope for the day.
After getting away from the group, she took her phone to report her situation.
"Boss Wang, the rival company already secured an exclusive contract with the organizers of the event. Sorry boss Wang, I have let you down." Jing Jing Softly apologized.
"Okay, Jing Jing. Then, just enjoy your Valentine's Day. Don't worry about it. It's not your fault. We did not know that this tournament would have a great impact today. " Boss Wang quickly acknowledged to comfort her. However, Jing Jing felt even more guilt in her heart with the words that her boss said.
"T-thank you, boss Wang." Jing Jing said and finished their conversation. She was aware that it was her fault for trusting Drake. It was her fault for not knowing her ex-boyfriend's background very well.
She stared at the ground with deep hatred in her eyes. Jing Jing spent the majority of her time in her career. When she realized that her action caused her career to be compromised, she could not almost forgive herself!
'Drake, you are not worthy of my anger!' she blinked her eyes and calmed herself.
Meanwhile, Annie glared at Jing Jing's back and could not believe that she was ignored by the other woman. Although Jing Jing had said her congratulations, Annie could not feel the sincerity of the woman's tone.
"How rude! I did not know that the employees at WG Studios and Media Firm are actually snobs!" Annie frowned while her eyes followed the movement of Jing Jing.
"Ignore her. We have managed to join the trending topics online because of your interview with the organizers of the tournament. Now, we can be at ease that the WG Studios won't be able to keep up with us." Drake said and gently rubbed Annie's shoulder.
The lady smiled by the gentleness that Drake showed at her. "Thank you, young master Drake." she smiled back at him and the three finally went across the street where they entered a coffee shop.
