Chapter 77 – Heated Discussion (2)
"You can do much better than this," Sofia muttered when no one still made a sound.
'From which family this young lady belongs? This imposing aura that even the chairman became speechless is too much!' the woman on the right side adjusted her sitting position and observed the situation. She could see her fellow organizers were avoiding eye contact and remained their heads down.
The man sitting at the center was the chairman of the organizers. When he received the complaint that one squad did not comply with the interview, he was extremely angry. He even agreed to disqualify the squad without even knowing which group was it.
Then, when the Chronos squad was mentioned, he became reluctant. He knew that it was this squad who gave most of the highlights in the match.
Therefore, the chairman decided to have a talk with the Chronos squad first.
His goal was to convince the group or perhaps scare them a little bit so that they would follow their arrangement.
He was confident that he can intimidate any participants given their high position as the organizers of the event. But, at this point, the other organizer realized that things were already out of their control.
Their target was rather more intimidating!
Even their chairman became attentive to the young lady! It was as if their position was shifted!
'The chairman planned to roast this Chronos squad and scold this young lady about the interview. But now, the table drastically changed and the young lady grilled them about their lack of characters! This is soo interesting!' AN who was standing near the door pondered deeply. She slowly moved towards Sofia and placed a bottle of water. Sofia smiled and nodded in acknowledgment.
AN had witnessed how the young lady maintained her poised and sophisticated aura despite in the middle of a confrontation. This kind of bearing deeply gave her inspiration for how to act decently despite the troublesome situation.
When AN returned to her original position, Sofia tapped her right thumb on the desk as if she was pressing the passive attacks of her phone.
'Did I scare them?' She inwardly thought after realizing that the organizers looked a little bit frightened.
"Alright! Moving forward, you have called me here about the complaint made by your press company. The man in charge in that press did insisted that we need to join their show. However, my squad is not obliged to be interviewed by them. We have our private press," Sofia continued to speak.
It would seem that no one really dared to make a noise from the organizers' side.
Fortunately, the moment they heard the young lady mentioned "moving forward", all eyes snapped at her as they realized that the bullying issue that she just threw at them was smoothly dropped by her too.
What she just accused about them not placing a chair for her made these people felt extremely guilty to the point that they almost lost their ability to speak. But after knowing that the lady was not making their action a big deal, they felt slightly relaxed.
However, the other people sitting on each side of the table still felt awkward.
There are now two figures sitting on both center ends of the table.
One was their chairman and the other was a participant. Even if it was just a sitting arrangement, but, the problem lies in who has the most authority around them.
No matter how they tried to clear their heads, Sofia's figure looked more authoritative than their chairman!
"It is better to present your objections. Even if you'll bring up the possibility of disqualifying my squad, you have no grounds to do it," Sofia made the initiative to get to the point. Since it was obviously the reason why she was summoned by them.
"We signed an exclusive contract with the FDS Press Company. It was enough grounds to disqualify your squad," the chairman finally returned to his senses and started to debate.
"Yes! Young miss, are you delusional? Maybe you don't know what a contract is? Make sure to study properly and ask your teacher about it!" a man on the side ridiculed after finding the courage to speak.
"Hmmp, you are young. If you can't understand how serious the contract is, then let me lecture you right now! Contract—" another female spoke but Sofia raised her hand to interrupt her.
"My squad is not part of that exclusive contract," Sofia simply shrugged her shoulder and took the unopened bottle of water. She gently twisted the cap and took a sip from it. Her refined movement made all of them stared longer to her.
"It was only between you and the FDS Press Company. You can't force participants to comply with something if they don't want to. I made it clear that my squad will take care of our publicity. Why is it hard to comprehend?" Sofia added. Then, she crossed her legs and leaned forward.
"Miss Su, the problem here is that our contracted press is losing money because of that decision," another lady chirped in.
"Are you saying that my squad is liable if they lose money? Perhaps, you need to review the terms and conditions that you have placed during the time when the participants were still registering our groups? Please feel free to call me back once you're done reviewing your terms and conditions," Sofia swiftly stood from her seat and left the room.
The people blinked their eyes and realized that they were just dismissed easily by a mere participant!
"Terms and conditions? Why should we review our terms?" another man frowned.
"Since we are talking about contract, perhaps there is a loophole in our terms and conditions? Let's review it!" the chairman urged the group.
Since the terms and conditions of the tournament were available online, all of them, easily browsed on their site.
It took them almost ten minutes to read the pieces of information plastered on their devices.
Then, the organizers slumped their backs with a defeated expression on their faces.
"We did not include the matters about publicity in the terms and conditions!" the chairman exhaled.
"When the terms and conditions were approved and published, we did not think too much about publicity. The contract between us and the FDS Press Company took effect just today," a woman recollected.
All of them were struck by the reality that Sofia was indeed right. Every squad does not have the obligation to show up in their arranged interview.
It was because they have not anticipated their partnership with the press.
Hence, the existing exclusive contract that the FDS Press Company had does not involve the players but only the organizers.
