Chapter 86 - Championship (4)
Chapter 86 – Championship (4)
After seconds of waiting on the grass, Claire's assassin flickered towards the mage of Lee Gaming squad. She initially pressed the second skill to dash forward but she canceled the skill before it was totally released. She was hesitating to use the skill.
As she halted mid-way, she finally pressed the second skill to dash sideward.
The background sound effect of her flicker alerted the four enemies that were targeting Clark's mage. These four opponents immediately saw the shadow of the assassin moving behind and they felt wary.
While the assassin started to move sideward after revealing her location, Claire's eyes were everywhere on the map. She glanced at the bottom lane and then on the top lane while her character hastily landed on the ground.
She calculated everything and made a plan.
On the side of the Lee Gaming squad, all of them turned their attention to Claire and follow through with her movements.
ATTACK!!!
Countless skills were directed towards the assassin producing a beautiful flow of animation on the river.
They have noticed that the movement of their new target was not slow nor fast. It was just the normal speed of the assassin using normal boots on her inventory.
The next moment, it became a game of tag!
Claire sprinted towards the bottom lane part of the river while the four opponents continued to chase after her.
The Lee Gaming squad kept firing their skills but none of it caught the assassin yet. She was not stunned nor immobilized. But they did not stop and used every method to corner the assassin.
The Lee Gaming squad was eager to get the first blood and since the Chronos assassin was also alone, even if it was running away from them, they quickly changed their target and pursued her.
Clark stood beside the tower for a moment feeling grateful but also confused.
He was aware that Claire would attack their opponent and was just waiting for the right timing.
But, at the last second of her action, she retreated which was something that Clark did not expect. He purposely did not use his skill to save it when Claire started to attack. But now, they were all moving away from him!
'Should I follow them or not?' Clark thought while looking briefly at Claire's character being chased by the four opponents.
Before he could reach his final decision, Claire signaled her teammates to gather.
The sound of request back up made Clark realized that Claire wanted him to follow.
The assassin was still moving on the river going downwards. She was also doing her best to dodge all the attacks that were coming her way.
Clark's thumb immediately moved on the screen of his phone as if pushing his mage to the bottom lane.
He immediately noticed that Claire was not retreating at all!
Instead, she was luring their opponents to go to the bottom lane where their ally tank and marksman were also waiting!
'Something is not right! If this assassin wants to escape from us why is her movement not fast?' Brent immediately thought of the abnormal movement speed of Claire's assassin.
Then, he had a sudden hunch that the group may ambush them!
Brent took a peek at the map and confirmed his suspicion after seeing that Clark had moved towards the bottom lane. It was certain that there will be an ambush at the bottom lane!
In an instant, he knew that his squad was being lured! The bait was the assassin!
"How bold! Your EXPs are still far from mine!" Brent smirked and muttered softly. His marksman character had reached level six while the Chronos squad members had just got to level four.
"Does the Chronos squad think that we are just born yesterday? Clearly, it's obvious that they are luring us? But their level is too low to ambush our squad!" Brent's sister also ridiculed them.
The two-level gap was more than enough to slay their enemies.
Brent was also confident that they can withstand against their opponent even if they would be ambushed! So, he decided to continue despite knowing that they were just being lured.
When Claire arrived at the bottom lane, her assassin became invisible which made the opponents halt their steps.
They cast their skills to the various possible area where Claire could hide. They attacked the near grass in the hope to remove the invisibility that Claire activated.
"What's the point of getting invisible? Hehe, I catch you, your dead!" William smirked and started to survey all the grass areas.
The group anticipated that they will be ambushed at any moment.
But in reality, Claire was no longer on the bottom lane. Her character had teleported to the top lane!
"HAHAHA the assassin had slipped far away! What is really the plan of the Chronos squad? I thought they would fight their opponents in the bottom lane!" the younger commentator stated in confusion. He was also having difficulty understanding the reason behind Claire's movement.
Clark was also dumbfounded when the map indicated that Claire was not on his lane. It would seem that his initial perception of Claire's movement was not correct.
Did Claire change her mind again? Surely she asked them to gather but why did she teleport to the top lane and joined Joey?
Sofia's tank and Stephen's marksman also teleported to the middle lane which made them totally switched places!
"What is happening?" Clark furrowed his eyebrows.
Much to the Lee Gaming squad, there was no ambush that happened to them. When they tried to attack the bottom lane tower of the Chronos squad, there was only one character that was standing there.
It is their initial target, the Chronos mage!
"Ohh? Where did they go?" Brent's sister asked before she looked at the mini-map of the battlefield right above her mobile screen.
"That assassin is in the top lane! What?" William gritted his teeth and looked furious.
"And the mage had switched position to their marksman and tank! What a waste of time! We pursued that assassin only to face again with this mage!" one of the females complained as they started to regroup and went to their respective towers too.
