Child of Destiny

Chapter 359 The Wanderer’s Tale

Shin was currently organizing the items inside his inventory space when he suddenly received a message from Owen.

Owen: Hey, Brother Swordsman! Are you going to watch the next two matches? Let’s watch it again together!

Shin shook his head the moment he saw the message. He could pretty much read the hidden meaning behind those words. “Heh! Looks like this guy is quite curious how I manage to predict the ending of that match, huh?”

He thought for a moment before muttering to himself. “Unfortunately, I have any intention to watch the next two matches since I am pretty sure that ‘that guy’ is going to win.”

After that he immediately rejected Owen’s invitation. “Nah~! I still have some things that I needed to do. Maybe, I’ll just review the matches of the winner later.” 𝗯𝐞𝗱𝗻𝐨𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝗼𝗿𝐠

He then closed the message panel window before looking at the digital clock and saw that it was still night in the real world.

“It is still too early, huh?” muttered Shin to himself while thinking what he was going to do next. And after some consideration, he finally came up with a decision. “Alright! Since I don’t have anything to do, it is better for me to practice my Mentalism Techniques!”

He swept his gaze inside the room for one more time, making sure that he didn’t forget anything. And after confirming that there was nothing else to do, he finally logged out of the game.

Pssh!

As usual, Shin’s nose was immediately assaulted by a foul smell right after the Gaming Cabin opened itself. But this time, the smell was not as unbearable as before.

Shin slightly tilted his head to the side before muttering to himself. “Maybe my nose is getting used to it since it already happened a couple of times.”

Then he pressed some buttons on the Cabin as usual to make it cleaned itself. After that, he went towards the bathroom to take a quick shower before doing his Mentalism Training.

Shin was currently walking towards his usual spot where he was training, when he suddenly noticed someone already beat him into that place. He knitted his brow for a moment thinking who this person was. It was impossible to be Arthur since that guy already had his own spot for his special training.

Regardless, Shin just tilted his head a little before walking towards that place. And as he got nearer on it, the figure of the person sitting in a lotus position started to become clear on his view.

And even though he still couldn’t see the person’s face since the guy was facing his back, Shin could still feel that this person was somewhat familiar.

Shin didn’t disturb the person in his meditation, as a respect of the Martial-Arts’ unspoken rule. He just sat beneath the tree shades before entering a mild meditation. A moment later, he opened his eyes as he felt a gaze starting at him. And when he raised his head to look on his front, he saw a somewhat familiar face.

“You!?” said Shin unconsciously the moment he identified who was the person.

The guy scratched the back of his head while saying. “Looks like this is your usual spot for meditating, huh? I apologize for invading it.”

Shin waved his hand, indicating that he didn’t actually mind. Then he carefully asked. “More importantly-… How come that you are here-… Se-senior Brother?”

It turned out that the guy was actually David.

Hearing that he was being addressed as Senior Brother, David immediately snapped with his fingers while saying with a cheek smile. “I see that you still haven’t forgotten our agreement! As for why I am here-…”

“Hmm-… how should I put it,” he carefully thought for a moment before continuing. “Let’s just say that your family makes some arrangements for me – out of gratitude for saving you before.”

He suddenly put his hand together while saying. “Anyways, since I am already here and I can also see that you are already in a somewhat good state, let me fulfill my on our deal!”

The moment Shin heard that, he suddenly became excited. “Are you finally going to teach me the way to suppress my ‘Seed of Hatred’!?”

“Yeah, Yeah! As long as you didn’t forget your end,” said David while wearing a cheeky smile.

Shin nodded his head without having any signs of hesitation. Though, he was grinning inside. ‘Yeah, Big Sis will take care of you later.’

Hearing that, David seemed to smile briefly before saying to Shin. “Alright, let’s start. Come here, let me check your system first.”

Shin knitted his eyebrows at first before walking towards David. And when he was in front of the latter, he immediately extended his right arm so that David could examine his pulse.

David took a deep breath to regulate his breathing before holding Shin’s arm with one hand while placing his index and middle finger of his other hand on Shin’s pulse. And the moment later, his face suddenly turned weird. “What the heck?”

Shin was suddenly taken aback at the sudden words that David just said and asked carefully. “Is there something wrong?”

Cough! Cough!

David started clearing his throat a little before saying to Shin with a stiff smile. “There is nothing. I just don’t expect that you possessed-… such-… an interesting dantian.”

Though, he was saying differently inside. ‘The heck with this guy? He already possessed the Demonic Qi inside his body? That only means that he already passed the trial of his first ‘Demon Seed’.’

Hearing that, Shin suddenly replied. “Oh~! That one? Master said that it was because I just completed engraving the Runes of my ‘Qi Reinforcement Arts’ on my bones.”

The corner of David’s mouth the moment he heard that. Then he tried to recall the circling Sacred Qi and Demonic Qi within Shin’s dantian, which were forming a natural cycle. ‘Because of some sort of ‘Qi Reinforcement Arts’? Are you kidding me? That is definitely the same as Sir Adam’s ‘Heavenly Demon Core’!’

‘Wait! If he already had that-… does it mean that Sir Adam already dropped by on this place and helped him establish this core?’

Seeing the expression that David was making, Shin further knitted his brow and asked. “Is there something wrong?”

David snapped out of his daze start after he was called out. Then he looked at Shin and said. “Aright, I am going to teach you a certain Mentalism Technique. Make sure to prepare your mind.”

Hearing that, Shin immediately hopped away from David while saying. “Wait! Wait! Wait! Are you going to teach me another Mentalism Techniques? I already had mine so I can’t learn another. Or else, it may conflict with my current Techniques which will also affect my current progress!”

David suddenly started chuckling the moment he heard that. “Hehe… don’t worry. This certain Mentalism Technique is quite special. It can complement any other Mentalism Techniques as well as all kinds of Martial Arts.”

Shin couldn’t help but become skeptical when he heard those claims. He then looked at David with a doubtful face as if he was saying. – “Do you take me as a fool? Do such Mentalism Techniques exist?” –

As if he could read what Shin was thinking, David suddenly clicked his tongue and said. “Tch! Do you think an ordinary Mentalism Technique can suppress a ‘Seed of Hatred’? This certain Mentalism is created by my talented master and her powerful husband.”

Still doubtful, Shin said at him skeptically and said with a sarcastic tone. “And how can I be even sure about that?”

David sighed helplessly and said. “Because they created this Mentalism Technique so that they could suppress the ‘Evil’ within my master’s husband.”

“With the help of this technique, Sir Ad-… I mean my master’s husband became one of the Martial-Artists who conquered all of their demons. No-… he did not only conquer it, he completely dominated all of them and turned their powers as his own.”

Shin was still raising his eyebrows as he still didn’t believe him. “Still! How can I confirm all of your claims? It can be something that you just come up with to trick me or something.”

David became a little annoyed and said. “Did you eat your brain or something? Do you think I am going to play some tricks on you inside your own territory? Do you take me as an idiot?”

Shin squinted his eyes a little and said. “Then let me hear the name of the Mentalism Technique first, so that I can consult my Martial-Art Master and Mentalism Teacher about it.”

This time, David’s face suddenly turned serious and didn’t immediately give his reply. He crossed his arms in front of his chest before saying with a solemn tone. “No. This Mentalism Technique is too important for others to know about it. There are only four people who know about its existence – and that is me, my master, her husband and my martial sister.”

“Do you even know the weight of a Mentalism Technique that can suppress a ‘Seed of Hatred’? If such Technique got leaked or even landed on the wrong hands, then it will bring chaos in the whole world.”

Shin paused for a moment when he saw the seriousness on David’s face; especially when he felt the heaviness on his voice. But he still didn’t get persuaded, so he asked with a careful yet doubtful tone. “If that is the case, then why are you so willing to teach me such an important technique?”

David didn’t immediately reply at him and just looked at Shin straight to his eyes. ‘If only I can tell you the real reason, then I already did it on our first meeting.’

He then lowered his head for a moment before answering Shin’s question. “Isn’t that the reason why I asked you to become my junior martial brother?”

“Why me?” said Shin with a flat tone.

David released a helpless sigh before saying. “You know that I am called the ‘Wanderer’, right?”

At first, Shin didn’t know what that title stood for. He only heard it for the first time when he was in the hospital and David was asking for Old Plum’s permission to teach him this certain technique that could suppress his ‘seed of hatred’.

But when he was researching the ‘Unified Strengthening’ and other ways that could help him combine his Mentalism and Martial-Arts, he suddenly came across a certain article regarding this ‘Wanderer’ thing.

In that article discussed a certain young mentalist who possessed a great talent that could rival all of the top geniuses in his generation. They called him the ‘Wanderer’ because he often traveled around the world to challenge all of the top geniuses in certain countries.

And because he never suffered a single lost since he started his journey, he became famous around the world and was placed on the same level as the demon-level geniuses of different continents.

Recalling the things about this guy in front of him, Shin nodded his head as a response at David’s question.

Seeing that, David took a deep breath before starting to tell his tale. “Then let’s first start at the real reason why I travel around the world.”
