Chapter 671 Deathmatch (Part 1)
…
Shin was currently waiting inside his room in the Mayor’s Residence of Calderock Town. He seemed to be too calm despite him going to face a top Godlike Player a little later.
Moreover, he was not just going to face this top-ranked god in an ordinary battle, but it was in a Deathmatch Battle!
Unlike the match that he had against Immortal which was set in default mode, Shin was going to fight his opponent with their current stats and all of their available skills, including their Awakening Skills.
During his battle against the Lich God, both of them couldn’t use those awakening skills which put Immortal at a little disadvantage. After all, those skills were meant to enhance all of the summoned undead that the Necromancers had, which was also why the classes related to this class became too overpowered when they got their respective awakening skills.
Fortunately, warrior-related classes were not as broken as Necromancers even though they got their Awakening Skills. It was just making them a little stronger just like any other class.
But Justin was slightly different. Rumors said that his class was quite a broken one that could even overpower any class that was currently available within the game. And since it somehow complimented his playstyle, the strength that he currently had was much higher than the previous evaluations about him.
On top of that, the current mode of the match was set in Deathmatch which somehow favored the players with warrior-related classes.
Unlike the usual best-of-five matches for Godly Challenge Rights like this, a match that was set in Deathmatch mode could only be held in one round. And the winner and the loser were going to be determined by that very round.
And to compensate for the rounds that the spectators were going to miss, the Health Bars and Mana Pools of both fighters were going to be tripled. That way, the match was going to be a long one to watch because it was practically equivalent to three rounds.
That reason alone immediately put him at a disadvantage since it was pretty obvious that Justin was going to have a much larger Heath Bar than Shin since he was in the warrior-class category.
But that didn’t mean that Shin was going to lose this battle. All he needed to do was deal as much damage as he could before his opponent could even deal any damage to him. It might be easier to say than done, but Shin was pretty confident that he would be able to pull it off, especially that he was able to go all-out this time without worrying about exposing his dual identity.
Everyone knew that he was the Angel of Death and the Emperor of the Night, so he was free to use all of the skills from his arsenal and show to all what his true battle style really looked like.
Moreover, he was also quite excited to test his newly upgraded equipment sets and weapons. And on top of that, this battle was going to determine whether he already caught up with the top-ranked Gods of the game just like Arthur and Leonard.
Ding!
Not long after, Shin finally got the notification sound that was informing him that it was finally time for the duel.
Shin took another look at all of his equipment and weapons to make sure that they were in perfect condition before putting his signature mask on and hitting the accept button in front of him.
Swoosh!
A few moments later, Shin was teleported to the center of a dense forest with a lot of towering trees around.
And as usual, Shin immediately surveyed his surroundings right after he was transported to the place. He was even using his special combat techniques to detect all of the movements in his surroundings, no matter how small or large they were.
A few moments later, he discovered that there was nothing strange that needed to concern himself.
“Looks like they purposely send us to random places in the arena to avoid having us fighting each other from the get-go,” muttered Shin as he surveyed his surroundings a little more.
While doing that, Shin also started moving and roamed around the forest with tactical movements. From the spectators’ point of view, anyone could tell that he was quite familiar with moving in these kinds of environments.
Shin was trained by the mafia when he was young and grew up under the guidance of a military family, so it was going to be much stranger if he was not skilled at moving in this kind of place.
Moreover, the environment that he had during his recent special training also had a lot of trees. So, in a sense, a place like this was practically a second home for him. And on top of that, the assassin play style that Shin had on one of his identities, was pretty perfect in an environment like this. π―π²π±π»πΌπππ₯.π°πΌπ¦
As Shin roamed around the special arena, he was actually drawing the entire map inside his head as he memorized the whole terrain of the place that went through. And after a few moments, he discovered that this battle arena was way larger than the other places that he had seen so far.
“Tsk! Finding each other will feel like looking for a needle in a haystack if things continue this way,” muttered Shin after realizing how large the battle arena that they were in.
Having that in mind, Shin quickly looked for the highest tree that he could see in the vicinity before climbing it to see how the view was up there. And when stood on the top of that tree, the thing that Shin saw was practically a sea of trees that was extending as far as his eyes could see.
“Sheesh! If it is not an illusion then there is definitely something wrong with the organizers’ head,” he said to himself with a bitter tone.
“Should I call that guy over here to make this easier for the both of us, or do I have to continue what I am doing and wait for a little more?” thought Shin while wearing a deep frown.
BOOM!
But not long after that idea entered his mind, his attention was immediately caught by a loud explosion coming from a certain direction which also created a huge cloud of smoke and fire in the sky.
“Heh! Looks like he is also quite impatient to get this over with,” said Shin smirkingly before jumping down from his current position and hopping from a tree branch to another as he rushed towards the direction of the explosion.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Naturally, Shin was not an idiot who would throw himself at his opponent blindly and expose his location. And since Justin was confident enough to give Shin a handicap, then he was more than happy enough to welcome it.
Given that, Shin slowed his speed a little as he proceeded towards the location of his opponent. And on top of that, he was also taking note of the terrain in his surroundings as he continued moving forward.
In the meantime, Justin was arrogantly waiting for Shin to arrive right after he sent the signal earlier.
He was sitting on top of a huge rock haughtily right after he sent the signal earlier. And from the confident aura that was currently surrounding him, it was pretty clear that he was looking down at Shin despite the recent rise of popularity of the latter.
But even though he looked like he had his guard down, Shin could easily tell that this guy was only trying to bait him out of his hiding spot. After all, Justin was a warrior who was pretty skilled at frontal confrontation.
Shin was really itching to fight right now but he still needed to test the waters first so that he could get a good grasp of his skills and abilities.
Having that in mind, he quickly released his three clones and sent them in different directions before positioning them in the spots that were perfectly flanking his opponent.
“It’s been a while since I manually controlled my clones like this. Let’s see if I get a little rusty,” muttered Shin to himself before focusing his attention on Justin.
“Since he is looking down on me a little too much, let’s play a game with him a bit,” he added as he controlled his clones to attack.
The first that made its move was the Phantom Clone who quickly used the Phantom Steps to teleport himself behind Justin while also brandishing its sword at the same time.
Cling!
Unfortunately, its sword stopped a few centimeters away from Justin’s head as an invisible barrier prevented it from advancing forward.
“Cheap tricks!” said Justin as he immediately tightened his grip on his glaive before swinging it at the Phantom Clone.
Swoosh!
But a flash of blazing fire flew straight to him all of a sudden, forcing the Demon God to change the trajectory of his swing.
Bang!
And once his glaive hit the incoming flash of flame, the Sun Clone suddenly materialized in front of him, blocking his weapon with its sword.
Shing!
As Justin paused his movements a streak of light suddenly flashed from the corner of his eyes, which signified yet another ambush. And this time, the speed of this particular ambush was much faster than the previous two since he could already feel a cold sensation coming from the back of his neck and seemingly trying to sever his head.
Ding!
But before the sharp sword could even reach him, Justin immediately moved his demonic arm and caught the incoming blade with it without even looking in that direction. But at the very least, he could see the Moon Clone materializing beside him from his peripheral vision.
But that was not the end, now that both of Justin’s hands were pretty much occupied at warding off the attacks of the Sun and Moon Clones, the Phantom Clone took advantage of that window to swiftly sheath its sword before quickly drawing it out once again.
Immediately after that, the Phantom Clone swung the sword at Justin as its blade was set ablaze with a black flame.
Shing!
‘Class Fighting Style: (Modified β Phantom Clone Version) Quick Draw’
The series of attacks were meticulously timed and perfectly linked with each other, leaving all of the viewers in awe. Most of them were thinking that they were already killed by the second or third attack if it was them standing in that field instead of Justin.
And if they somehow managed to survive all of those three consecutive attacks, then they were pretty sure that they would not be able to escape death with this fourth attack that was sent by the Phantom Clone.
Fortunately, Justin was the one who was standing in the middle of those three ‘Shins’ instead of them. And since it was him, escaping this predicament was not an impossible feat.
Bang!
And he didn’t betray their expectations as the invisible barrier that was protecting him earlier suddenly exploded and sent a shockwave in every direction, which also pushed the three clones away from him.
“Heh! I must admit that I underestimated you quite a bit. But if this is how you are going to fight, then I have to say that I am quite disappointed,” said Justin as he rested his glaive on his shoulder.
He then swept his gaze on the three clones before saying with a smirking tone. “If you think that your clones are enough to keep me company, then you are gravely mistaken.”
But to his surprise, the three clones suddenly raised their heads and stared at him before simultaneously opening their mouths. “I never have underestimated my opponents in real battle. So, I must warn you to keep your guards up if you don’t want to regret it later.”
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
And when those three clones were done talking creepily, they simultaneously used the Phantom Dance Skill and released their Phantoms all at once, stunning everyone who was currently watching the match.
All of them saw Justin get surrounded by 37 Phantoms alongside the three clones who were standing at the forefront of their formation.
