Chapter 721 Underground Dungeon (Part 7): The Ability That Pulls Out One’s Peak Potential
…
The team of Empyrean Talons, S.Tigris’ group, and the people from Hand of Midas Trading Firm were currently resting in front of the metal gate to regain their peak forms before they proceeded to the next part of their plan.
They had already killed all of the guards defending the area and also cleared the loots. And from the trace left behind by the battle, it was pretty clear that it was not a one-sided fight. 𝗯𝗲𝐝𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝗹.𝐨𝗿𝗴
At first, the group was able to slaughter a lot of guards during the initial collision, especially when Arthur, Leonard, and Shiella reminded the group of their statuses within the game. And with the lead of these three gods, their advance was relatively easy.
But that only lasted for a few moments.
It was because of how powerful the guards had become after the first batch were killed. They had underestimated the combination of the boost given by the fallen guards and the buff provided by the room.
Fortunately, Arthur and Leonard were not holding back their strengths either. And coupled with Shiella’s precise commands and perfect instructions during the battle, they were able to continue moving forward without much of a problem.
During the battle, the pair of S.Tirgis and Black Hand discovered something that they found unbelievable.
At first, they thought that it was only their imagination. But as the battle continued, they had discovered that the Shiella was not only controlling the battlefield pretty well, but she was also using the drive that the team got after seeing the three gods display their real battle prowess.
As a leader of the squad previously and a strategist of the team, the two were pretty aware that the morale of the team was pretty important during the battle since it could boost the performance of each member of the team.
When they heard the information that Shiella had said regarding the possible rank of the dungeon boss, even these two felt a little helpless. But after seeing the initial display of the three gods, they couldn’t help but become affected by the drive provided by the stunning performance of those three.
Most of the people would not notice it and would naturally think that it was just a simple coincidence. But S.Tigris and Black Hammer knew that it was not that simple. After all, they were currently talking about the mysterious guild master of the Hand of Midas Trading Firm who managed to build the very first Merchant Guild that was able to rival the Powerhouses of the game.
But raising the morale of the team and keeping it for a long time during the battle were two different things.
No matter how high the morale that the team had during the start of the battle, it was destined to fall down during the battle itself just like an adrenaline rush that was losing its effect.
But to their surprise, the high morale of the team never fell. From the very start of the battle up until they finished off the final guard, their morale seemed to never fall even for a brief moment. In fact, it even rose to a higher degree when they killed the last guard remaining.
They were not sure what kind of magic Shiella had used to achieve such a feat, but one thing was for sure, she was able to pull out everyone’s real potential during the entire battle.
While those two were having those thoughts, Black Hammer, who was sitting a few meters away from them, suddenly said. “Don’t think too much about it. It is not that complicated.”
“Huh!?”
Hearing his words, the pair of S.Tigris and Black Hand couldn’t help but turn their heads at him at the same time.
Seeing the confused looks on their faces, Black Hammer suddenly laughed before explaining. “Our Guild Leader is just that amazing.”
The two who were anticipating an amazing answer suddenly rolled their eyes at the blacksmith after hearing his words.
Black Hammer laughed once again when he saw their reactions and continued. “I already told you, don’t overcomplicate things.”
He paused for a moment and waited for the two to turn their attention back to him before continuing. “As you can see, raising the morale of everyone is one thing, but it is not the entire reason why we win overwhelmingly. Her completely accurate commands are also the reason why she was able to pull out our best performance.”
“It was unnoticeable to us since we were currently in the battle earlier. But if you look closely into each of her commands, all of them were so accurate and perfectly timed to the point we are able to maximize the effects of each of our skills.”
“And each time we see such a perfect result consistently, our bodies and minds are unconsciously following her orders faithfully.”
This time, S.Tigris and Black Hand didn’t immediately realize that Black Hammer was right. And looking back to the previous battle, they could also see how amazing it was.
At this point in time, Black Hammer suddenly asked. “Have the two of you heard of the thing called ‘Zone’ or ‘Flow’ that the ordinary people are talking about? Especially regarding the athletes and sports.”
The two turned to him and stayed silent for a moment as they thought about what the blacksmith had said. And not long after, Black Hand suddenly answered. “Are you talking about the phenomenon where an individual is able to display their maximum potential due to their immense concentration?”
“Precisely!” nodded Black Hammer to his younger brother before continuing. “Such a thing mostly happens to the talented individuals when they put all of their concentration into what they are doing. But there are also some cases where people with average talents are able to do such things while trying to break through their limits.”
“Mostly, it is said to be the combination of excitement and awareness of an individual. It is even said to be associated with a relaxed yet focused high-level performance. History says that there are even some people who are able to enter such a mysterious state at will.”
He paused for a moment and looked at the two before quickly adding. “But to us, Martial-Artists and Mentalists, such things are not that amazing since there are some breathing techniques or concentration techniques that can have similar effects.”
Reaching this point, Black Hand couldn’t help but knit his brow and ask. “But what is its connection with the topic that we are currently discussing right now, big brother?”
Black Hammer smiled a little before ignoring what his younger brother had said and continued. “But alongside those people who can enter that state at will, there are also some individuals who can grant their teammates and colleagues the ability to enter it.”
“They are able to pull the peak performance out of their teammates by perfectly supporting them. It was as if they were granting the people from their side a pair of wings that will let them fly in the sky.”
Hearing those words, Black Hand seemed to realize something and quickly stood up. “Are you telling me-…!?”
But before he couldn’t even complete his words, Black Hammer immediately nodded and confirmed his thoughts. “That is right. The Young Miss has such abilities. She is able to pull out our peak potential during the battle by giving us perfect commands that can display our real capabilities.”
“But it is also said that such things are only possible if that particular individual is familiar with the people that are accompanying them,” said Black Hand, trying to refute his big brother’s words.
And Black Hammer even nodded his head in agreement. “That is also true. But as you know, there are always exceptions to everything.”
Hearing that, Black Hand couldn’t help but stare blankly at the blacksmith as he couldn’t find the right words to refute the latter anymore.
Seeing his reaction, Black Hammer suddenly smirked before quickly adding. “Moreover, the Young Miss already familiarized herself with each one of us.”
Black Hand suddenly frowned his eyebrows after hearing those words and was about to ask when it happened. But before he couldn’t even open his mouth, a thought suddenly flashed through his mind, and immediately realized the answer to the question that he was about to ask.
He remembered that when Shiella first joined their group and entered the deeper parts of the dungeon, she rarely gave her command and left the role to Tinker for the time being. Black Hand now realized that Shiella was actually observing each one of them during those battles.
“You are telling me that with such a short amount of time, she is able to fully grasp our strengths?” he asked with a doubtful tone even though he already knew the answer.
Hearing those words and seeing the expression that his younger brother had, Black Hammer couldn’t help smirk and feel proud. “I already told you, our guild leader is amazing.”
After that, he also stood up and walked over to Tinker before saying without turning his head back. “You guys should get ready. Resting time is already over.”
