No one was moving a single muscle and everyone seemed to have been placed in a quagmire. We were in a staredown with Marisha and the pressure she was exuding was enormous. A few girls behind us lost feeling in their legs but then Marisha spoke loud enough for everyone to hear.

ā€œAll of you, get dressed. Iā€™ll wait one minute.ā€

ā€œY-YES MAā€™AM!ā€

Everyone just ran back inside to look for the clump of clothes that we threw somewhere but Kaley and I easily put on ours because it was inside the armory. With the girls, they just mixed and matched their clothes because time was of the essence and they were all almost the same size.

After exactly one minute, all of us were kneeling like last time while Marisha was looking down from above. We werenā€™t making a sound as she scanned through each of Micahā€™s girls but her gaze eventually landed on us. My mind was in shambles and I didnā€™t know what to do, but Marisha eventually spoke.

Marisha raised one of her eyebrows as she folded her arms, ā€œKaleyā€¦ā€

Kaley instantly flinched, ā€œY-Yes, M-Mom?!ā€

ā€œI told you so.ā€

ā€œW-W-What?ā€

ā€œDidnā€™t hear me? I told you so.ā€

ā€œI-I-I donā€™t g-get it, M-Momā€¦ā€

ā€œYou willā€¦ your mind is just in shambles after seeing me. Anyway, breakfast is ready but Iā€™d take this time to tell you girls to come to my home right after. Itā€™s only a few walks forward past your permanent residence. And Micah, if you donā€™t mind, Iā€™d like you to be there too. Weā€™ll just have a little talk with your idea.ā€

Micah flinched when she heard her name but she replied, ā€œY-Yesā€¦ Iā€™ll bring them right after breakfastā€¦ and a showerā€¦ a long~ showerā€¦ā€

ā€œThat would be nice.ā€

Everything became silently uncomfortable for a complete minute before Marisha spoke again.

ā€œCynthia, how are you? Doing okay?ā€

ā€œY-Yes! M-More than okay!ā€

ā€œCan you please elaborate?ā€

ā€œW-Wellā€¦ I think Iā€™ve g-got more f-friends now and e-even ifā€¦ n-nevermindā€¦ itā€™s fine I-ā€

ā€œWhat do you mean by even if? Did something happen?ā€

ā€œU-Ummā€¦ n-no! I-Itā€™s not important I-Itā€™s okayā€¦ I m-meanā€¦ u-ummā€¦ā€

ā€œI seeā€¦ā€

ā€œW-What?ā€

ā€œItā€™s not about something that happened, itā€™s about something that did not happen. You came from the other room with the others, right? How did not being included with your new friends from your nightly ā€˜activitiesā€™ made you feel?ā€

Kaley interjected, ā€œM-Mom! Please! You already know, right?! W-Weā€™re all a.d.u.l.ts h-hereā€¦ we can just-ā€

Marisha briefly glanced at Kaley and it shot her down, ā€œKaley, I know. Weā€™re just talking, right Cynthia?ā€

ā€œU-Ummā€¦ technicallyā€¦ yeahā€¦ j-just talkingā€¦ T-To answer your questionā€¦ I wanted to spend more time with everyone b-butā€¦ u-ummā€¦ I donā€™t know how to explain thisā€¦ā€

ā€œGo on, thereā€™s no judgment here. As I said, weā€™re just talking casually.ā€

Cynthia was a little embarrassed but she continued, ā€œY-Yeah, I knowā€¦ I just really couldnā€™t put it into wordsā€¦ itā€™s likeā€¦ likeā€¦ I just kinda wanted to ease into itā€¦ not you knowā€¦ b-but I would like to be as close as everyoneā€¦ theyā€™re really niceā€¦ not just withā€¦ you knowā€¦ Iā€™m really not sure what to sayā€¦ā€

Marisha faintly smiled, ā€œI think thatā€™s easy enough to understand. Rin?ā€

ā€˜Is she gonna talk to each of us?! Right now?! Before we get breakfast?! What?!ā€™

Rin flinched the same as everyone, ā€œY-Yes?!ā€

ā€œWhatā€™s been going on without you lately? I think last we spoke was five days ago, right?ā€

ā€œY-Yesā€¦ u-ummā€¦ā€

Time continued to pass and what we talked about were just embarrassing confessions about each other, fun introductions from everyone, cheesy secrets, and so much more. Everyone actually enjoyed this talk after the awkward and scary encounter from earlier. WE got to learn about each other, especially our new friends.

With that said, Marisha didnā€™t talk to me like everyone else but she asked to talk to me privately. She even asked Kaley to leave the room and have breakfast with everybody while the two of us were left inside.

We were just staring at each other for a short moment before she spoke.

ā€œSo, how are you feeling?ā€

I replied, ā€œIā€™m fine. Kinda tired butā€¦ Iā€™m fineā€¦ really. Why did Kaley and the rest have to leave? Is there a reason?ā€

Marisha faintly smiled, ā€œObviously. I just wanted to talk in private.ā€

ā€œI-I know that a-alreadyā€¦ Let me r-rephrase thenā€¦ Ummā€¦ā€

Marisha chuckled, ā€œIā€™m just joking, youā€™re too stiff. Youā€™re not in troubleā€¦ kindaā€¦ā€

ā€œAhā€¦ That didnā€™t sound too goodā€¦ Is there a problem?ā€

Marishaā€™s expression turned solemn, ā€œOkay, Iā€™m just gonna tell it to you straight. I can read my daughters even if theyā€™re not talking and I could as easily read other people even after just a short conversation. Thereā€™s no denying that Kaley loves you dearly but those other girls? Itā€™s not as great or intense but they also have feelings for you. It varies from each girl but youā€™ve made a connection with them whether you like it or not.ā€

I scratched my head, ā€œYeahā€¦ I felt that sometimes but if youā€™re worried about me, you shouldnā€™t. I thought I established that already even if our current relationship with everyone is really complicated to explain. I make sure to follow our boundaries and even ifā€¦ I meanā€¦ last nightā€¦ we did something off-bookā€¦ it was with each otherā€™s agreement. Weā€™d never do anything that the other doesnā€™t want.ā€

Marisha suddenly tilted her head as her eyebrow raised, ā€œAnd what is this off-book thing that you speak of?ā€

ā€œU-Ummā€¦ we justā€¦ I donā€™t know how- nevermindā€¦ okayā€¦ Itā€™s one of our rules to make sure that weā€™re both present if we ever do theā€¦ the deed with other peopleā€¦ the thing wasā€¦ y-yesterdayā€¦ after we did itā€¦ i-in front of everybodyā€¦ I stayed in my room with Micahā€™s girls and s-sheā€¦ in the other r-roomā€¦ā€

Marisha started rubbing her glabella, ā€œThat girlā€¦ā€

ā€œN-N-No! Please! Here me out! Itā€™s not just her! Just let me finishā€¦ Itā€™s actually Micahā€™s idea and she asked Kaley profuselyā€¦ā€

ā€œAnd?ā€

ā€œKaley agreed but I didnā€™tā€¦ā€

ā€œThen how did it happen then?! This story of yours is starting to get woozy~ Youā€™re telling the truth but youā€™re not making any sense, you doofus!ā€

ā€œJ-Just let me tell the whole thing before you interject, a-alright?ā€

ā€œFineā€¦ continue.ā€

ā€œSince we have this rule that I told you earlierā€¦ I obviously disagreed and I brought her up to my room to do the uhā€¦ private-public thing with everyoneā€¦ butā€¦ Kaley justā€¦ justā€¦ donā€™t get me wrongā€¦ I love herā€¦ I really do f.u.c.k.i.n.g love her but sometimesā€¦ I just go along with anything she says because sheā€™d be happy with it except one other thing Iā€™m extremely trying to get her to change her m-mindā€¦ā€

ā€œAnd that is?ā€

ā€œT-Thatā€™s not i-importantā€¦ letā€™s get back to what I was saying e-earlierā€¦ I said that I go along with what she wants sometimes but there are still cases when I enjoy and have fun with everyone even if Iā€¦ even if Iā€™d just rather spend all my time with her. Kinda hypocritical, right? I kept saying I love her and Iā€™d rather just be with her but Iā€™d still partake with what she wants whether I go along with it or expect it and sometime even want itā€¦ Itā€™s too complicatedā€¦ā€

ā€œā€¦ā€

ā€œSometimesā€¦ sometimesā€¦ I justā€¦ I just hate that I would think with my di- my g-genitalsā€¦ sorry for being vulgarā€¦ā€

ā€œI think weā€™re already past that after you told me that you two had intercourse in front of everyone.ā€

ā€œAhā€¦ N-Neverthelessā€¦ Iā€™ll keep an eye on itā€¦ā€

ā€œSure, continue.ā€

ā€œI pride myself being a genius but when it comes to these thingsā€¦ Iā€™m f.u.c.k.i.n.g stupid. I donā€™t knowā€¦ Sometimes I like itā€¦ sometimes I donā€™t but get thisā€¦ I still enjoy itā€¦ Well, it might be because doing it releases a few things in our brains and it relieves me from everything thatā€™s happening outside but stillā€¦ I canā€™t just cherry pick what I want in our relationship and just simply tell her to stop what I donā€™t like just because I wanted toā€¦ It isnā€™t as simple.ā€

ā€œDo you two talk atleast? You knowā€¦ after doing it but you knowā€¦ when itā€™s just the two of you?ā€

ā€œAlways. Even if we didnā€™t do it we always talkā€¦ We always talk about everything and we had a serious one back thenā€¦ But please donā€™t ask me about that, itā€™s not fair for her if sheā€™s not here. Thatā€™s her story to talk about, not mine.ā€

Marisha just looked at me solemnly with a saddened expression, ā€œSheā€™s my daughter, I know. Who do you think talks to her each time she made a bad decision or was just crying as she opened the door to our home? Who do you think is the only person she could talk to when everything is just falling apart? Trust me, I knowā€¦ But thank you for saying that, that means a lot to me.ā€

I pursed my lip as I looked down, ā€œI-Iā€™m sorryā€¦ I shouldnā€™t have said thatā€¦ā€

ā€œWhat are you apologizing for? You never did anything wrong, right? And if you ever did, itā€™s by accident and you never meant to do it. You promised me something last time and Iā€™m sure youā€™re keeping it.ā€

ā€œOf courseā€¦ alwaysā€¦ u-ummā€¦ isnā€™t there something you wanted to tell me? Iā€¦ I appreciate that we talked like this but I kinda wanna know the reasonā€¦ā€

Marisha chuckled, ā€œI said it earlier, right? Weā€™re just talkingā€¦ noā€¦ talking is a part of it but I wanted to pick your head as well.ā€

ā€œT-Thatā€™s it?ā€

ā€œIā€™ve talked to each and every person in your place and this is only one of the few times that we seriously talked to each other about your relationship with my daughter or any other subject. As you said earlier, I needed to be fair. I just dropped by here to give you the same reminders Iā€™m giving her because Iā€™m sure that something happened here that Iā€™m not particularly fond of.ā€

ā€œBut stillā€¦ā€

ā€œI know! I get your rules with each other but Iā€™m still her mother, remember? What I said to you two last time had more or less happened but Iā€™ll make sure once I talk to them later if theyā€™re going through with their decision or not. I donā€™t want to meddle even if I wanted to but I sure as hell could give some advice. Take note, I really give good advice. Orā€¦ if you just wanted to ventā€¦ Iā€™m always here. Itā€™s always nice talking to you.ā€

I faintly smiled as I looked at her, ā€œThank youā€¦ā€

Marishaā€™s face suddenly turned blank, ā€œNo.ā€

I got confused, ā€œHuh?ā€

ā€œNo. I said no. Are you even listening? This is the part where you ask for my advice.ā€

ā€œAhā€¦ā€

ā€œHahaha! You should have seen your face! But Iā€™m serious about giving one. Whether you listen to me or not, I just wanted to leave a few things coming from someone that walked a little further than you in life. Youā€™re a very intelligent human being but youā€™d still need to experience more in life. Iā€™d happily share a few from my pages.ā€

ā€œOkayā€¦ā€

ā€œHmm? Okay what?ā€

I breathed deeply for a moment and then I looked at Marisha straight in the eye, ā€œIā€™d like to ask some advice about marrying your daughter.ā€
