“Alright. I’d hoped we could go together, but it looks like that’s impossible,” Yi Tianyun said, feeling rather helpless. Evidently, they couldn’t proceed with the same trial.
“Don’t worry. Those next two stages won’t be a problem for me. Why are you concerned?” Domain Lord Liuli smiled. “Don’t forget that I’m still a half-step Heavenly Venerable and a Domain Lord. If I can’t manage this, I’d have no business holding that position.”
“True. Sister Liuli definitely won’t be stumped,” Yi Tianyun said with a grin.
Although they couldn’t undertake the trial side by side, he believed Domain Lord Liuli would surely pass. If someone of her level couldn’t, it would be a disgrace to the title “Domain Lord.”
After a brief chat, Domain Lord Liuli walked away, moving forward rather than lingering. Before, she had merely been meditating here, hoping Yi Tianyun would show up. Without that to wait for, she had no reason to delay.
When she was gone, Yi Tianyun turned to the Venerable Spirit and asked, “Senior Venerable Spirit, if I enter that area and try to force my way into someone else’s space, will I be kicked out?”
“You can’t possibly force yourself into another space,” the Venerable Spirit said, still wearing a faint, self-assured smile. Everything here was under his control.
“But if I manage to get in anyway?” Yi Tianyun pressed, narrowing his eyes.
“As I said, you cannot forcibly enter another’s space,” the Venerable Spirit repeated in a calm yet decisive tone. “But were you to succeed, hypothetically, we wouldn’t remove you. You’d be free to move around that space. As for the dangers…we’d offer no protection.”
The Venerable Spirit’s confidence in his master’s barriers was absolute. As the artifact spirit, he possessed intelligence, personality, and judgment. He clearly didn’t believe that even someone who passed the ‘nine deaths, one life’ stage could break through those seals.
“Understood, Senior Venerable Spirit. Thank you for the warning,” Yi Tianyun replied with a smile.
He moved forward, expecting to reach the region Domain Lord Liuli had entered. Once inside, they’d be separated by the space divisions, unable to meet.
He wasn’t too concerned about that, though. He mainly wanted to test whether he could breach those separations, ideally, he hoped to team up with her again. He also wanted to see whether his Void Bloodline might have such capabilities.
After walking down a long passage, Yi Tianyun arrived at a gate of light. Stepping through it, he found himself in a world of golden mountains, returning to a realm awash in gilded tones.
All around was simple, mountain after mountain, dotted with golden forests. Even the ground itself was golden, formed from Illusory Metal Power. It was a pure gold world.
Yet it seemed peaceful, no apparent danger. He wandered about; nothing threatened him. Everything felt so calm, like walking in his own backyard.
“Since I’ve been recognized, I guess there’s no trial here. After leveling up so much and overcoming those intense battles, they figure they don’t need to throw more hazards at me.”
He recalled what the Venerable Spirit had said: if he tried intruding on someone else’s zone, he’d face their layers of trials. Staying in his own area meant it remained extremely safe, with no danger at all.
Hence, this realm was now a paradise for cultivating Illusory Metal Power, no threats whatsoever. That was why the Venerable Spirit let him freely choose a location. In these safe spots, he could absorb as much as he wished without peril.
“Let’s see if I can bypass the barrier and link up with Sister Liuli for her trial. If we tackle it together, the rewards might be even better.”
Yi Tianyun hoped both of them could achieve their goals, maximizing profits. Since merely mastering the third layer would grant him direct discipleship, he wasn’t in a rush. Better to ensure Domain Lord Liuli passed as well.
Exploring the infinite expanse, he found no flaws or gaps; it was perfectly integrated. His spiritual sense picked up no vulnerabilities.
“Figures, if it were so easy to spot a crack, the Venerable Spirit wouldn’t have a job.”
He attempted to enter the void, only to find himself stuck, blocked by the space’s sealing power.

He wasn’t surprised. If it were that simple, there’d be no point in the tower’s setup.
“In that case, I’ll try upgrading my Void Bloodline. It’s quite potent already.”
The Void Bloodline specialized in stealth and infiltration. It was arguably even better than an invisibility skill: not only could it hide you, it let you slip into the void, dodging most attacks. Truly a top-tier defensive/offensive bloodline.
As for upgrading the Kunpeng Bloodline, that could wait. Right now, he wanted to see if a higher Void Bloodline level would let him breach this sealed environment. If yes, that would be invaluable for escaping future imprisonments.
“Upgrade Void Bloodline!”
Immediately, he spent 3000 compressed Crazy Points. A large portion of his total vanished in an instant.
Had he not slain so many Evil Spirit Race members before, he wouldn’t have enough to do this.

Inside, it felt wholly different: he was in some kind of layer. Gazing out, he saw dozens of overlapping spaces, each containing cultivators going through their respective trials.
Clearly, he could now move between them, stepping directly into their zones!
“This Void Bloodline is incredible!” he murmured, amazed.

Upon entering the void-layer between spaces, Yi Tianyun felt as though he were the master of this place, able to observe everything. He could see clearly into every area, no secrets remained hidden.
“That single level-up sure paid off!”
Surveying the scene, he realized he could slip into other realms. If he went elsewhere in the future, he could again traverse the void. Sneaking off with treasures would be as easy as taking them from his own pocket!
Even as he prepared to continue onward, the Venerable Spirit suddenly appeared in the void. Since this was the Venerable Spirit’s domain, he could come and go as he pleased, any concept of “void” was under his supervision. No one could escape his control.
“You’ve actually managed to break into this void?”
For once, Yi Tianyun saw the Venerable Spirit reacting differently, he looked genuinely shocked. The artifact spirit had previously been certain there was no way Yi Tianyun could enter other regions.
But now, here Yi Tianyun was able to access any area, thoroughly undermining the Venerable Spirit’s earlier confident claims. It was a blow to the spirit’s pride, like a slap to the face.
“Senior Venerable Spirit, so I can go anywhere I want now?” Yi Tianyun asked with a faint smile, mirroring the calm expression the Venerable Spirit often wore. “You said it yourself: If I can enter other spaces, you wouldn’t interfere.”
The Venerable Spirit studied him for a moment, then let his usual smile return.
“I did say that. You’re free to visit any space, and I won’t stop you. However, any dangers in those spaces won’t be removed on your behalf. It’s your own decision how to handle it.”
With that, the Venerable Spirit disappeared from the void, making no move to block Yi Tianyun. He kept his word; he had no intention of going back on it.
Once the Venerable Spirit left, Yi Tianyun let out a small sigh of relief. If the spirit had decided to renege, it would hardly be surprising. Thankfully, he hadn’t. After all, Yi Tianyun was merely crossing into the void-layers, perhaps it wasn’t as severe a matter to the Venerable Spirit.
Of course, by doing this, Yi Tianyun was slightly undermining the tower’s system: normally, people had to tackle each trial alone, whereas he could now join someone mid-challenge, disrupting the usual order. But apparently, the Venerable Spirit had no plans to stop him.
Yi Tianyun quickly scanned his surroundings. Domain Lord Liuli’s location appeared before his eyes: she was besieged by countless metal figures attacking from every side.
Stones, trees, even the golden grass on the road, everything transformed into one of these metal figures and pounced. These metal men varied in size, but each possessed late-stage God Monarchs cultivation.
Though they were weaker than Domain Lord Liuli, their sheer numbers were overwhelming, forcing her into a grueling battle. She’d have to hold them off continuously with no sign of when it might end. By the looks of it, the rules for this stage required enduring their onslaught for a full month to pass!
With so many metal men attacking non-stop, holding out for an entire month was indeed frighteningly difficult.
And it wasn’t just Domain Lord Liuli, other challengers were also facing the same predicament, locked in fierce combat. The scariest sight was a mountain suddenly standing upright as a colossal metal being, smashing downward to flatten the trial-takers.
Clearly, the people who had entered this world were not few in number. Many cultivators besides Yi Tianyun and Domain Lord Liuli were still around. He figured more still lingered in other corners of the tower, this place was meant to select a disciple, so it wouldn’t be limited to a single batch. Once beads were reclaimed, the process would restart.

Yi Tianyun turned his focus back to Domain Lord Liuli. She was fending off the metal men with her blue ribbon, seemingly without too much difficulty. She didn’t need to kill every enemy, merely survive for a month to pass.
“As expected, she’s strong. It doesn’t look like she’s in trouble at all.”
He chose not to appear and help her. Every cultivator, especially one at her level, carried pride in their own strength. If there was no real danger to her, offering unsolicited assistance would be insulting. Besides, Yi Tianyun’s main goal here was testing the void and continuing his own cultivation.
Inside this void-layer, he felt the Illusory Metal Power was significantly denser than in his original safe zone. That made it the perfect spot to refine his metal-based physique for the third layer of the Illusory Metal Divine Secret Art.
However, progress was still slow, he’d need a lot of time to strengthen his body enough.
“Too slow… It’d be nice if I could speed it up,” he muttered. Just then, he sensed a strange shift in Domain Lord Liuli’s area, causing him to open his eyes again.
Several giant metal figures had appeared around her. Each one carried half-step Heavenly Venerable might, thoroughly surrounding her so she couldn’t escape.
Boom!
Elsewhere, some challenger was smashed to pulp by one of the massive metal men, demonstrating an absurd level of power. And Domain Lord Liuli was now facing several simultaneously, intensifying her trial’s difficulty many times over.
“Even with half-step Heavenly Venerable cultivation, facing so many at once is insane.” Yi Tianyun frowned. “This seems off. Could the Venerable Spirit be cranking up the difficulty to make me intervene?”
None of the other half-step Heavenly Venerable challengers faced that scenario. It was likely the difficulty had been raised just for her!
