Upon entering, Yi Tianyun inspected his surroundings. There were exactly ten statues, many of which looked very familiar, they resembled the same divine generals he’d encountered before.
They were only statues now, but no doubt those divine generals had accomplished great deeds under Heavenly Venerable, Killing God, earning a place of honor here. Regardless of their past power, though, they all had died eventually, and Yi Tianyun himself had slain several.
Aside from that, there was nothing overtly special about the area. The one truly abnormal feature was Heavenly Venerable, Killing God seated on the throne at the front. A rotten smell emanated from his body, filling the entire space.

Waving his hand, the Venerable Spirit conjured images of Yi Tianyun’s previous battles: the explosive Dragon God bloodline, the Kunpeng speed bursts, and so on, everything displayed for Killing God’s review.
“Most crucially, he has successfully cultivated the Illusory Metal Divine Secret Art, surely meeting your requirements,” the Venerable Spirit concluded.
Heavenly Venerable, Killing God watched carefully, eyes aglow with red light.
“I never expected such a being: human race bloodline, yet brimming with extraordinary power. Seems your body holds a variety of forces… This absolutely fits my standards.”
He smiled with satisfaction, obviously pleased with Yi Tianyun’s capabilities.
“Kid, do you want to become my direct disciple? Once you do, you can choose any martial art and any weapon! All the treasures you want!”
He dangled tremendous temptation, sounding precisely like a senior accepting a student.
Of course, Yi Tianyun knew that was a lie, he was trying to coerce compliance, making Yi Tianyun let his guard down. A docile target would be simpler to possess.
“What if I refuse?” Yi Tianyun asked coolly.
“Refuse?”
Killing God’s eyes flashed red in displeasure. Yet instead of raging, he laughed softly:
“Why refuse? Are my promised rewards lacking? You’ve gone through countless trials precisely for the sake of becoming my disciple, haven’t you? Once you join me, everything you desire will be yours.”
He maintained an air of calm persuasion, not threatening Yi Tianyun with death.
“It does sound like there’s no reason to refuse,” Yi Tianyun said, smiling faintly. He realized pressing further would be unwise, anger this man, and things would get messy fast. “What conditions do you require for me to be your disciple?”
“You’ve already cleared the trials, so no more conditions. All you have to do now is relax your mind and open your spirit. Through our souls, I can impart martial arts to you. Some knowledge, like my personal insights, can only be transmitted soul-to-soul. That’s also how you’ll receive my ultimate secret arts!”
Heavenly Venerable, Killing God’s tone was genial, like a kindly elder.
“Sounds good. Just curious, besides me, have you taken any other disciples?” Yi Tianyun asked.
He couldn’t escape immediately, so he tried stalling. Meanwhile, he planned how to defeat or escape Killing God, there was no way he could outfight this man’s physical body, but if the soul left the body, the tables might turn.
“Indeed. See these statues? They’re my other disciples, but they’re out on missions. After you become my pupil, you can meet them eventually.”
While speaking, Killing God’s eyes flickered with mild impatience. Were it not for wanting Yi Tianyun to cooperate completely, he’d already have squashed him.
“In that case, I’m in.” Yi Tianyun pretended to concede. “What do you need me to do?”
“Simple!”
With a flick of Killing God’s wrist, a large golden coffin descended from the void. Yi Tianyun instantly recognized it as an artifact forged from Illusory Metal Core, undoubtedly a Heavenly Venerable Spirit Treasure.
A dense aura of Illusory Metal Power seeped from it, Yi Tianyun finally saw something that matched the illusions outside. He figured Killing God needed a metal-based body to contain his energies or transfer them.
“Lie down within, then fully relax. Leave everything else to me,” Heavenly Venerable, Killing God said eagerly, clearly unable to wait.
Yi Tianyun eyed the coffin. He had no choice but to play along. Inside, he prepared to launch a furious assault on Killing God’s soul if and when the possession attempt began. If successful, Yi Tianyun would become master here instead.
