Chapter 51: Worth its weight in gold
Chapter 51: Worth its weight in gold
“I start to like deals with you. What’s in that one?”
Rosha raised her eyes to the ceiling. The crease between her eyebrows deepened as she spoke. “As I told you just now, I took a loan from the Guild. It has interest, too. If I won’t make timely payments, I will have to sell my property to the Guild for whatever pitiful price they state. I and Risha will be left on the street, and I know it still won’t be enough to pay off the entire loan, which will make me a debt slave.”
“And it’s all on a contract, is this right?”
Rosha nodded and scowled. “Of course. They didn’t save on paper… As a debt slave, I will have to pay off my loan working whenever and under whoever the Guild tells me to, and with how their contracts work… probably until the day I die. Could be a crafter, a waitress, a counter-girl, a maid—or, if the person in charge of my contract decides it, it could be a brothel.”
I thought I began to get where Rosha was leading to. “You want money.”
She gave me a scowl that made me, just for a moment, think that I was wrong. “I NEED money. It’s a different thing.” With a huff, she sat up and crossed her arms over her chest, hiding that magnificent view from me. “I can’t leave Risha jobless and on the streets like that, and if I’m doomed to sleep for money, anyway… I can at least pick someone good-looking. And I know you want more sex, so if you want it with me, you’d have to make sure I’m still available for it at all.”
The offhanded compliment made me smile a little. This was a first time I was complimented for my looks and not for my power, and as fluid as my looks were, the words brought me in a strange surge of pride. This was my face, after all, she complimented. Mine. I was sure of it now, even though I couldn’t remember much more.
I sat up too, but the movement made the bed uncomfortably narrow for the two of us until Rosha shifted from me, and turned sideways so we sat side by side, with her feet set on the floor. She didn’t move away when I put a hand on her waist and brought her closer to enjoy some more the warm and soft feel of her under my arms.
In my head, I already agreed with her offer. Sex was great, and there was a lot of use in an ally in my revenge. Eventually, I would need good equipment, and I wouldn’t want to buy it from the Guild. Not if it profited these bastards who called themselves gods! Besides, I would need it tailored to fit my mutated body, and not every crafter would do it, and do it silently. It was good to work with what I already had.
That Rosha was a beautiful woman ready to tumble in bed with me was just a bonus. But a great bonus, that’s for sure.
“I probably won’t be as good-looking for much longer,” I noted. “I was just planning on evolving something new. Though I wanted to keep the human-like looks for now, at least… There’s still too much to do in human cities.”
“Evolving? What do you mean?”
“I have a unique ability that allows me to buy new abilities for EXP. But almost all of them come with a new appendage or something like that. Even something small, like that mark.” I pointed at the white cross on my chest.
Rosha ran a curious finger over it, making my tired cock stir. “I thought it was a scar.”
“No, it came with an ability to spit web. Very useful one.”
She raised her eyes to me in astonishment. “You can spit web? Like spiders?”
In response, I demonstrated this ability by spitting and spinning several thick threads with a skill born from practice, creating a spiderweb stretched on the fingers of my right hand. “Just like this.”
Rosha’s eyes widened even more. She brought my hand closer to her face and began to examine the web with increasing awe. She pulled at it several times, raised it to the light that came from the window, and finally gave my hand back to me.
“It looks exactly like a web of Armoured Cave Spider. Adventurers gather it from the spider’s cocoons, and it goes in the Guild for two hundred gold coins per kilo, and this is for low-grade threads. This,” she pointed at my arm, “is the highest-grade stuff. No tears or dirt, the metallic sheen that only web of matured spiders has, a perfect combination of elasticity and strength. And the nearest lairs of Armoured Cave Spiders are at Blue Mountains, so here at Glesk the web costs twice as much. Both adventurers and nobles would snap the snap it up like hot cakes! Adventurers for clothes that are light as silk and strong as leather, and nobles for this metallic sheen of it in the lace for their dresses.”
Rosha said all this in about two breaths, and her eyes, when she raised them to me, got a new sort of gleam now. The avarice of them made my blood boil—in a sense that made me ready for the round four, here and now. I pulled off the web from my hand and put it into Rosha’s.
“I have more where this is came from. But first,” I lifted Rosha by the waist and, with a surprised gasp from her, sat her in my lap. Her toned ass rubbed over my stiff member as she wriggled in my arms, making me groan and momentarily forget what I was saying. It took me a second to gather myself together.
“But first, Rosha, you pay. Payment in advance, and no need to waste paper on any more contracts.”
Her response to that was an annoyed look over her shoulder and another, this time deliberate, roll of that ass.
