Chapter 210: Emperor’s Pen, Imperial Book

Why do people on Earth, especially the Chinese, have such greed for power? Well, it’s because power, in fact, is a great thing!
Ordinary people go through extreme hardships to chase the things they desire. But to those people with much greater power, a simple nod or word and they get what they want!
A single decision from them is enough to change many people’s fates; to let them live, die, to give, or take away from them. It is within their capability. This is power!
Li Yifeng was merely a Municipal Party Secretary, not a Regional Official. But a simple nod from him could save Ling Yun tens of millions of dollars!
How rich was Gou Liancheng be? How cocky was he? With Li Yifeng’s one word, Gou Liancheng would be under his control! How arrogant was Qing Long? How impressive was he? With Li Yifeng’s stroke of a finger, they would be immobilised. Was Qingyun Movies a showoff? Was its background scenery impressive? With just a nod, Li Yifeng could make Qingyun Movies disappear in an instant!
Tang Tianhao’s purpose of visiting Li Yifeng was initially to get to the bottom of the truth, but now that Li Yifeng had revealed everything to him, Tang Tianhao could only nod and do as instructed.
Before leaving, Tang Tianhao secretly told Li Yifeng, “Brother Li, let me tell you. Ling Yun isn’t any ordinary person. If my predictions aren’t wrong, he belongs to that group of people…”
Li Yifeng, with his position, knew what Tang Tianhao meant when he referred to those people. He faintly nodded his head.
Tang Tianhao continued, “Before I leave, I have two things I must tell you.”
Li Yifeng laughed, “Tell me.”
Tang Tianhao turned solemn. He said in a serious voice, “Brother Li, two waves of people came over to Qingshui City Public Security Bureau yesterday afternoon. They demanded from me all of Ling Yun’s personal information.”
Li Yifeng immediately asked, “Two groups of people? What kind of people were they?”
Tang Tianhao whispered into Li Yifeng’s ear, speaking in a much softer volume, “One group was from our country’s secret service. They had no name and went only by codenames. But when I was working as a Special Forces soldier before, I had met someone like them. So when they showed me their identity, I knew.”
Li Yifeng nodded, then asked, “What about the other group?”
This time around Tang Tianhao replied in a lower volume, carefully saying, “The other was from the China Special Ability Users Department. When they came, they didn’t even say a word. They just left with all of Ling Yun’s case files.”
Li Yifeng understood what he meant. He asked, “What about the other issue?”
Even though Tang Tianhao was at Li Yifeng’s office, he looked around cautiously before slowly saying, “If my judgement isn’t wrong, people from the International Assassin Group are out to kill Ling Yun!”
Li Yifeng knitted his eyebrows. He whispered, “How do you know that?”
Tang Tianhao laughed confidently, “Brother Li, did you forget what I actually do? These couple of days, my men noticed that a lot of unidentified people have been pouring into Qingshui City. They were all around Ling Yun’s surroundings and nearby Qingshui High. On Monday afternoon, they even caused a car accident at Qingshui High’s entrance while trying to run over Ling Yun! It was all recorded by the CCTV at the cross junction!”
Li Yifeng could not help but be stunned upon hearing this. “Such brazen attitude! Then how did Ling Yun deal with it?”
Tang Tianhao laughed, “From what I saw, right when the car was about to hit Ling Yun, he hugged onto Miracle Doctor Xue’s grandchildren and got away in time. He managed to escape!”
Tang Tianhao was a little puzzled. “But from yesterday onwards, those weirdos suddenly vanished and went away…”
Li Yifeng nodded his head. “Seems like the trouble that he caused isn’t anything small!”
Tang Tianhao nodded his head. “That’s right, so I wanted to ask you. Should we intervene?”
Li Yifeng thought a little bit. He waved his hand. “We definitely have the power to help Ling Yun. But if it is as you said, even if we wanted to help, we would not be able to help at all. We can only close one eye and let Ling Yun settle it himself. I believe that he is capable of settling the problem.”
The secret service? Special Ability Users Department? International Assassin Group? These people no longer had to do with power. Ordinary people wouldn’t encounter them for their entire lives. Even if Li Yifeng and Tang Tianhao wanted to intervene, they were all so secretive that they had no idea where to start from.
We can’t even touch their shadows. What are we going to do? This was a gambling game amongst themselves. Even power would not be able to influence them.
Finally, Li Yifeng told Tang Tianhao, “Go make some arrangements. Finish what we’re supposed to do. As for the rest, let’s take it as it comes!”
After Tang Tianhao finished his report, he laughed, “In that case, I will be on my way. My Brother Li?”
Li Yifeng looked at Tang Tianhao, who was speaking to him in official jargon. He could not help but chuckle and wave his hand. “Go.”
After Tang Tianhao left, Li Yifeng walked towards his office window, hands behind his back in deep thought. “This Ling Yun isn’t simple!”
…
3 PM in the afternoon, Qingshui Lakeside, Tiger Cliff on Dragon Mountain.
Godly Slayers Organization’s prefecture-level assassin Deepa acted like the rest of the tourists. He was hanging around the Tiger Cliff, pretending to appreciate the scenery.
But his reserved glances were constantly scanning the ground, seemingly looking for something.
As a prefecture-level assassin of the Godly Slayers Organization, Deepa already had some sort of influential position in the Chinese Department of the Godly Slayers Organization. He originally had come to Qingshui City to spy on Xuan Qi, Xuan Jiu, and the others here, similar to how an operations manager of a company would inspect his employees’ performance.
But in one night, he had lost track of Xuan Qi, Xuan Jiu, Li Yi, Jiao Fei, and the 4 other marksmen.
The special communications devices they carried were switched off.
Deepa didn’t have any doubt that Xuan Qi and his friends would fail in their mission. Their assassin’s code dictated that only death awaited after failure. Success or death. There was no third option.
As a sixth stage Post Heaven’s prefecture-level master, Deepa naturally had his own ways to track them. Using the marks and clues that Xuan Qi and his group of friends had left, he tracked them all the way to the Tiger Cliff on Dragon Mountain.
He soon was able to spot the bloodstains on the Cliff. They were left by Xuan Qi and Xuan Jiu from their injuries.
“There aren’t many bloodstains around here. Seems like not all of them died. They must’ve escaped after they failed their mission.
Deepa thought deeply and analyzed the situation.
“Fifty-million. After losing eight assassins, two of which are Xuan level and two of which are Huang level, if I don’t kill Ling Yun, the Godly Slayers Organization Chinese Department is going to have to shut down.”
Deepa did not care about Xuan Qi, Xuan Jiu, and the rest’s whereabouts. Godly Slayers Organization had a department that specifically dealt with assassins who failed their mission. He did not need to intervene.
“Is that Qingshui City’s legendary Sky Pit?”
In Deepa’s eyes, Ling Yun was already a dead person, and he did not want to concern himself with a dead person’s problems. All he wanted to do was to admire the amazing landscape before him.
The number of tourists coming to Qingshui City had risen by many times these couple of days, mainly to see the Sky Pit. Both the Dragon Mountain and the Southern Jade Peak were full of tourists. Tourists were endlessly flowing in and out of the hotspot.
But now, Qingshui City workers had cordoned off the huge Sky Pit to prevent tourists from entering.
Despite this, many tourists still crowded around the cordon boundary. They took photos of the huge Sky Pit with their phones and cameras. Their expressions were either excited or shocked.
In the valley between the Dragon Mountain and the Southern Jade Peak, outside the cordon boundary, Deepa noticed three people in particular.
The way they dressed was not in any way unique. They were just a Monk, a Taoist Priest, and an almost-fifty-year-old Female Taoist Nun.
Monks and Priests were actually often seen at the tourist hotspot at Qingshui Lake. There was nothing unusual about it. But some tourists actively tried to avoid them, afraid that they would scam their money.
However, Deepa did not think it was so simple.
“Three masters have appeared right in front of me!” Deepa thought to himself, feeling a little shocked.
“Why would these people appear here? Is this Sky Pit so special?” Deepa looked at them from afar.
“I’ll wait until Ling Yun is dead, and then I will go over to investigate!” Deepa decided.
At that moment, there was a carefree-looking youth standing on the top of Southern Jade Peak. He was wearing a green and black robe like what you would see in the movies. Not bothering with the onlookers’ stares, he looked at the huge Sky Pit and the split road outside the cordon boundary with his unique and electrifying gaze.
“Bloody h*ll, grandfather said that Emperor’s Pen has already been born, and that Imperial Book will also be born here. Is it actually true? I, Du Gumo couldn’t get Emperor’s Pen. This Imperial Book should be mine now, shouldn’t it?”
Du Gumo appeared to be around eighteen or nineteen years old. His unique-looking robe originally was white like the moon, but was now green and black because he hadn’t washed it in a long while.
With eyebrows as sharp as swords, eyes as bright as stars, red lips the shape of knives, white teeth, an aura of an unsheathed sword, and a nose like a hanging gall bladder, he stood upright at 1.9 meters tall like a javelin, resting his hand on the railing. He didn’t bother tying his shoulder-length hair into a bun, which instead flowed with the wind. Anybody looking at him would think that he was sloppy but full of pride.
“I wouldn’t mind if the Imperial Book didn’t appear. But if the Imperial Book is really beneath this Sky Pit, don’t you dare to steal it from me. I will kill you…”
Du Gumo stared at the monk and the other two priests, forcing a smile.
“Yin-Yang Dragon Lock Spell? I’m not watching, this old chap will return back to the hotel to watch television…”
Du Gumo had lived in the Hengduan Mountains during his childhood. After he had overheard the Du family’s secret meeting, he had run away from home and had arrived at a flourishing metropolis. What had attracted him most was not the uptown girls who were gorgeously dressed in very little clothing, but the television!
…
For the entire afternoon, Ling Yun was in his class studying English. He had already memorized all the high school English words. He did not forget any bit from the textbook.
If Ling Yun sat in a 150-mark English mock test, he would confidently achieve above 120 marks.
After school, Ling Yun stood up and left the classroom under Cao Shanshan’s expectant and tender gaze. He first found Ning Lingyu and Xue Meining, and then quickly brought the both of them directly to the second floor of the school’s canteen.
