Chapter 372 - 371 - Suicide Mission(Part 4)
Chapter 372 – 371 – Suicide Mission(Part 4)
Point-of-View: Misen Ragiu
———————————————————————————
“What-…where did you come from!?” Exclaimed one of our targets in alarm, an Elf.
An Elf and a Halfling…at our power levels, this will likely be an uphill battle, but we outnumber them, and Kuro is watching, and in all likelihood, will intervene if we’re about to get killed. It wasn’t that long ago when I’d have never thought I’d be relying on that brat like this…heh, it’s hard to believe that, three years ago, I was stronger than he was.
“What are their power levels?” Inquired Jhin, as Selesa put on the Power Reader glasses.
“The Elf is at 14,400…and the Halfling is at 15,700. They’re strong, but we can take them. A higher power level by no means guarantees a victory,” Replied Selesa with a slight smirk, as wind swirled around her spike-like knuckles.
“Indeed, all three of our power levels put together may be less than their combined power levels, but I estimate that we have a reasonable chance at victory,” Added Jhin, flames manifesting in his palms.
“Tch, we cannot teleport…we have no choice but to fight,” Remarked the Halfling with a frown, drawing out a short sword, lightning running through it.
“The two of you attack the Elf, I shall attack the Halfling,” Declared Jhin, before suddenly zipping towards the Halfling as he blasted out a fireball at the Elf, who leapt out of the way in alarm.
He didn’t even give us a chance to agree or disagree…well, I suppose there’s no helping it now that he has made a move, so-…
“Alright, Misen, let’s take out that sickly-good-looking, gorgeous adonis of a pretty boy!” Exclaimed Selesa, as she shot towards the Elf.
Wait…was any of what she just said insulting in any way…?

Point-of-View: Jhin
———————————————————————————
I evaded as the Halfling fired a bolt of lightning at me, before shooting out concentrated flames on retaliation. The Halfling swiftly responded by forming a defensive barrier in front of himself, which activated just in time to protect him from the flames.
But the moment my flames clashed against his barrier, he lost sight of me. I took the opportunity to swiftly race across and around to his left, deliberately entering his peripheral. Instinctively, he turned his gaze towards me, and just for an instant, made eye contact with me.
And an instant was all I needed. The moment I attacked him, I realized that he was being careful not to look into my eyes, and he was also keeping an eye on my hands, meaning that he was wary of being attacked with either Chaos Magic or Corruption Magic. However, he was far too wary, so focused on it that it was inhibiting his overall performance.
He was so tightly wound that taking advantage of his tension was a simple matter, and now, I had struck him with an illusion spell using my Chaos Magic. It was a simple spell, since I only managed to draw him into an instant of eye contact, but it was quite an effective one.
It confuses his brain and jumbles his movements…in other words, attempting to move an arm might instead result in him moving a leg or opening his mouth or something…I cannot say for sure, as it is randomly jumbled.
It does not require a significant amount of willpower to break free from, however, that becomes exceptionally more difficult when in a panicked state…as this Halfling clearly is.
He was trying desperately to move his limbs the way he wanted, he was collapsed on his knees, failing to stand up. I shot towards him while forming a swirling ball of flames in my right hand, driving it towards his chest as I closed in on him.
He could see the attack coming quite easily, but he could not respond to it, as desperately as he tried to…I can only imagine the despair he must be feeling right now, he must feel quite helpless.
He then let out a sharp cry of pain as my flame attack struck his chest, scorching off the leather armor and severely burning his skin, the whites of his eyes turning red as he screamed in excruciation.
“D-damn you-…ahhhhh!” He howled in pain, as I interrupted him with a swift kick to the forearm, breaking it.
I suppose this is a bad habit, but I cannot help it…toying with an opponent like this, it can be so…addictive. I then drove my knee up towards the burnt patch on his chest, eliciting a hollow gasp from him as I struck that spot, sending him flying back and skidding along the ground painfully, before slamming onto a tree with immense impact, coughing out blood.
I suppose that I should incapacitate him soon, there is no sense in dragging this out. Ah, it looks like the Halfling has managed to break free of the Chaos Magic spell, impressive…but it is over, he has already lost to me.
He let out a loud yell of fury and shot towards me, blinded by his rage…time to use my second form of Demonic Magic, Mimic Magic. Most assume that Mimic Magic is the weakest of the Demonic Magic types, and while that may be true in some ways, it is far from useless.
Mimic Magic, when active, reads a specified opponent’s moves and then imitates those movements, making it an option that is only viable in one on one battles. Other than unsettling your opponent, it does not have any other use…that is what most think of it.
But there is another way to use it. Use it to read your opponent’s movements…and then resist the impulse to imitate those movements. It is rather tricky to do so without a lot of practice, but I had nothing but time while trapped in the Forbidden Zone, so I have plenty of practice under my belt.
This method of use is not very effective against opponents that are drastically faster than myself, but this opponent is not one of those, so it will work against him. And now…I shall put it to use. As he closed in on me, I activated my Mimic Magic, getting ready to counter…
He is swinging his left arm across…I read his opening move, resisted imitating it, before easily blocking his attack and countering by grabbing his wrist, and as he began to drive his right knee up towards me, I read the move and dodged it quite easily, slipping behind him while still grasping his wrist, resulting in the bone in his forearm snapping with a loud crack, eliciting a shriek of pain from him, which quickly faded as I struck the back of his head, knocking him unconscious.
He was close to twice as fast and strong as I am, and yet, his fear and excessive caution of my Demonic Magics resulted in a very easy victory. I did not even have to consider opting to kill him, it was that easy to incapacitate him. Now, then, do the other two require my assistance…?

Tch, this is tough…he’s strong, and much faster than we are. We were able to drag this fight into a stalemate by me attacking him at close range while Selesa restricted his movements with sharp wind blasts from above, but this won’t work for much longer, he’s getting used to our timing.
As I slashed my dagger at his face, he evaded my attack and countered with a point-blank wind blast at my torso, sending me flying back as the force knocked the wind out of me, a sharp gasp escaping my lips, before I slammed onto a large rock, dislocating my right shoulder as a wave of pain erupted from that spot.
The Elf fired an arrow at me, which suddenly got blasted away as Selesa fired a shot of wind at it, before swooping down at the Elf and unleashing a barrage of swings using her knuckle spikes, which he evaded with ease.
As she drove her spikes towards his face, he grabbed her wrist to stop the attack and then flung her over his shoulder, slamming her onto the ground with a devastating impact, blood pouring out of Selesa’s mouth as the force nearly knocked her out in a single hit, completely dazing her.
The Elf then grabbed one of his arrows, but instead of using his bow, he began to stab it down towards her face. I quickly lifted my left hand, wincing in pain as I moved, before firing out a bolt of lightning at him, striking the back of his head.
He dropped the arrow as my attack stunned him, before turning his gaze back with a look of fury…shit, am I this helpless against an average Elf? Tch…how frustrating…
“You lowly humans…I shall kill-!” He began to exclaim as he turned around in my direction, when suddenly, he was interrupted as a huge blast of flames struck his back, and before he could respond, Jhin sprang up to his left and slammed a punch against the side of his head, striking him down, the top of his head hitting the ground and losing consciousness.
“We have completed our assignment, both intruders have been incapacitated,” He declared, as he bound their limbs.
I stood up with a groan, wincing as a wave of pain burst out from my dislocated shoulder, caused by the motion. Selesa was struggling to stand up too, it looks like her back was badly injured.
Jhin said ‘we’, huh? That’s awfully generous of him, Selesa and I barely did a thing…
