Dysfunctional – An Assassin’s Guide to Reincarnating in Another World

Chapter 500 499 - Return(Part 3)

Chapter 500 499 – Return(Part 3)

”I believe that summarizes everything that has happened,” Said Nezera, as she finished explaining what had happened in the last century and a half or so.

”Damn, that’s a lot to take in…so, this Spectre guy, he’s attacking right now?” Responded Rion, after a brief silence.

Oh, crap, that’s right, I was so preoccupied with everything else she’d told us, that I didn’t fully process the fact that this guy is attacking right now.

There’s a lot to dissect and unpack here, but for now, we’ve got to deal with the immediate problem. Whoever this guy is, I won’t have him destroy my nation.

”Alright, you guys stay here. I’ll go out there and deal with this,” I remarked, as I stood up.

”Wait, I’m coming too-…,” Began Persia.

”No, you’re not. We don’t know how powerful he is…I’m not taking the risk. Don’t bother arguing, because I won’t change my mind,” I responded immediately.

”…you’re so overprotective,” She grumbled with a pout, before adding with a smile, “Alright, fine…but you better win, got it?”

”Don’t worry, I will.”

”Hey, let me tag along. It’s too risky to go it alone,” Spoke up Sylvar, swinging his spear around with a grin.

”I will come too,” Added Bell with a nod.

”Okay, guess I’ll help as well,” Volunteered Az.

”Don’t think you can leave me out…I’ve got a score to pick with this bastard,” Remarked Belia with an unusually serious glint in her eyes.

She’d looked pretty grim ever since Nezera informed us that this Spectre guy had killed Shiro and probably everyone else who was in charge of the Rustlands.

”Okay, fine. You four can come. Everyone else, stay here…we’ll be back soon,” I instructed, as I cracked my knuckles.

The peace that I-…no, that we…-all worked so hard to bring about, it’s been disrupted by the Spectre. He’ll pay for that, I’ll make sure of that.

”Follow me, I will take you to the nearest teleportation booth and send you as close as possible. You will also need to equip the glasses and rings necessary to keep track of the Spectre even if he turns invisible,” Said Nezera, before leading the way.

”Oh, wow…,” Muttered Sylvar wide-eyed, as Nezera led us out.

Holy shit…this is incredible. Animated billboards, music playing, I could see videos being played inside some of the stores we were passing by, and-…wait, is that a statue…of me? Awesome. Looks a bit pretentious, but hey, I’m not complaining.

”Amazing,” Remarked Bell in disbelief.

”This probably doesn’t sound like me, but…I want to explore this place later,” Added Az, looking around in fascination.

”Well, to be fair…you’ve been asleep for a hundred and fifty years, so it makes sense that you have a bit of extra energy,” Responded Belia with a laugh, but she still had that dark, murderous look in her eyes.

She really wants to kill this guy…but, then, so do I. And I can sense the bloodlust from Sylvar and Bell too.

It’ll probably take a lot of time and effort to undo all the damage that has been done and restore the peace we established…but for now, that’s secondary.

Without even needing to say a word, all of us were on the same page right now…we want him dead.

”This way,” Said Nezera, as she led us into the castle, which was unrecognizable from how it used to look.

She took us into a room filled with Spell Cards, opening up a bunch of drawers before finding the glasses she’d mentioned, along with rings embedded with crystals.

As we all put them on, she found a teleportation spell and handed it to me. She also gave us a barrier spell, one that he wouldn’t be able to escape from.

”Great, thanks…now, stay here and wait. We’ll deal with this in no time,” I remarked, as the five of us got into contact before I activated the spell, teleporting us away.

We found ourselves in a small store, but there was no one else here…but outside, cries of pain and the sound of falling rubble were ringing out.

”Let’s go,” Declared Belia, as she pushed open the door and stepped out.

As we followed after her and headed towards the source of the destruction, I used my Clone Magic to create clones to heal the people that were injured all around the area.

”Over there, that must be him…he’s holding Poseidon’s Trident,” Sylvar spotted him up ahead.

A man with long pinkish white hair, thick stubble, and a rapidly regenerating right arm, and a murderous look in his eyes, his foot on someone’s chest, the prongs of his trident dripping with blood.

”Is that Jhin he’s stepping on?” Frowned Az, before halting and stomping his right foot on the ground, firing out a massive wave of ice barreling towards him.

The Spectre noticed and teleported away to narrowly avoid it, right as Sylvar unleashed his Wind Sage Mode and zipped forward, while Bell did the same with her Lightning Sage Mode and sprang up onto the rooftop as her body crackled with lightning, as the sky began to darken.

Sylvar then blindsided the Spectre with a powerful blast of wind, knocking him off balance and sending him spiraling across, but he managed to regain his bearings before he could fall.

Before he could fully restabilize himself though, Bell burst out a massive, devastating lightning blast from the sky, which zipped down towards him in the blink of an eye.

But he managed to react in time and teleport out of the way before it could hit him, reappearing up onto a nearby rooftop with a bewildered look on his face.

”My turn,” Remarked Belia coldly, teleporting up there as I leaned down by Jhin, starting to heal him…

Point-of-View: Belia Lasmodeus

I’ll make him pay, I swear…as I teleported behind him, I formed Weathering Magic around my fist and swung it at his head…I’ll kill him right here and now!

Right before I could connect, he noticed and responded in alarm, starting to fly up and away, my fist striking his right shoulder and turning it to dust, his almost-fully healed right arm falling off as he then teleported away.

In addition to that teleportation, he can apparently also turn intangible…but he didn’t this time. I see, when he’s caught off-guard, it takes him an extra split-second to use his abilities. I won’t let such a weakness go unpunished.

”Hey, let’s take this outside the walls,” Suggested Kuro, as he finished healing Jhin and teleported up towards me.

”Fine by me,” I responded with a shrug, as the Spectre turned invisible…but I could still see his silhouette, thanks to these glasses.

Several shards of ice burst out towards him, but they passed right through him as he turned intangible before teleporting away, right as Bell sprang up below where he was and blasted out a powerful lightning bolt straight up at him from her hands.

He flew out of the way in alarm before it could fully engulf him, and avoiding taking any damage. The part of his silhouette around his right shoulder was extending…he must be growing his arm back.

Sylvar then swirled powerful gusts of wind around the silhouette, but it didn’t have any effect…allow me change that.

I blasted out flames towards the gusts of wind, creating a flaming tornado around him. Before it could fully surround him, he zipped through the streaks of wind and closer towards the wall…we’re slowly but surely shepherding him towards the outside, just a little bit more.

Kuro then joined the fray, charging up a massive Obliteration Magic blast and taking aim, before firing it out in a powerful wave straight towards the Spectre.

I teleported up high into the air and blasted out intense bursts of flames on either side of the silhouette, forcing him to teleport outside of the walls, with nowhere else to go.

The five of us wasted no time in chasing after him and surrounding him, right as Kuro took out the barrier spell that that Vampire had given him and activated it, forming the barrier around us and him.

He then turned visible, a cocky look on his face as he glanced around at us.

”Oh, I get it now…I was wonder who you people were, but I see now. You’re the ones who were trapped in that barrier, aren’t you? I’m sure you all think you’re powerful, but just so you know, I’m not even at half my full power right now,” He smirked, as he unleashed his True Anima, and likely the Berserker technique that the Vampire mentioned before.

Alright, then…let’s see just how strong he is, shall we?
