The woman walked a few steps toward the mountain and found a stone in front of her. After bypassing the stone, she found another piece.

That is so weird!

She felt a little strange, but she was dissatisfied and continued to move forward. There were more stones.

She was a little scared because she remembered what the old man had mentioned in the village. She began to worry and sweat. She felt a little dizzy without any reason. She did not know whether it was because of an illusion or fear.

She felt like a ghost hitting the wall. But, that it would only happen after sunset, wouldn’t it?

She looked up at the sky and saw the sun was still shining. She decided she needed to go back, except she was worried she wouldn’t be able to.

Luckily, she found her way to the foot of the mountain. She gasped with her mouth open wide. Although she did not get hurt, she was still scared. The mountain made her fearful. She lost any desire to look around the mountain.

A gust of wind passed by, which made her shiver because of the cold sweat her fear had caused. She began to walk faster. She almost ran home from the mountain.

“Where have you been?” Her family was worried, especially seeing her appearance. “Why is your face so pale?”

“Nothing, nothing. I am a little uncomfortable,” the woman said. “I just want to lie on the bed for a while.”

“Alright.” Her brothers cared about her and were still a little worried.

“I am cold, very cold,” she said.

She quivered while lying on the bed, which felt hot.

Chen Jiagui was in the yard. He took off the outer quilted jacket he had worn for many winters and sat wearing only a primer shirt. His cheeks were red, just like the evening glow in the sky.

“It’s just one bottle of wine.” He hiccupped, which reeked of alcohol, and threw a peanut into his mouth. It was crispy and tasty.

“On the 15th of January on the lunar calendar, the heart of a little sister is beating!” He roared under the effect of alcohol singing some messy songs.

Crack! He threw two peanuts into his mouth.

It was getting dark. Wang Yao came down from the mountain and returned home.

“You bought trees again, didn’t you?” his mother asked.

“Yes, I bought some,” Wang Yao said. “I have most of them planted already.”

His parents had helped him buy trees last time. This time, he did not tell anyone. Thanks to one person and one dog, everything was settled.

After supper, Wang Yao went back to the mountain. The wind had started to blow pick up. It was a cold wind.

“The weather will change.” Wang Yao looked up at the sky.

In a small courtyard with two dilapidated rooms, there was a stone bed that had not been cleaned up for god knew how many years. The raggedy quilts on it all showed the cotton wool. Some peanuts were scattered on the stone bed. An opened bottle of liquor had spilled on the quilt. The room overwhelmingly smelled like liquor.

A man was lying on the bed snoring. His upper body was bare. He only wore a pair of long trousers that had a few holes.

In this season, it was still a little cold at night. It was even colder in a dilapidated house where wind could go in from every part. But, the man did not feel cold at all. He was actually sleeping quite well.

Suddenly, the sleeping man sat up. Creak! Creak! It was like the sound of grinding molars. There was a dull sigh in the darkness.

Crack! Something seemed to be crunching.

He got up and out of the bed with no shoes or clothes. He walked a few steps, and reached out his hands to touch something. He then picked it up and stuffed it into his mouth. There was more cracking as he went outside.

The door was slightly open. Bang! The door was pushed completely open by the violent wind. The wind was cold as it blew on the man’s face and body, but Chen Jiagui seemed not feel it. He went into the yard and squatted down to pick up something to eat. With a squeaky sound, he began eating part of the sheep bones he had taken out during the day.

The bones were very hard, but he bit seriously and persistently. It was as if he was bewitched.

He squatted for a while and stood up. His mouth was full of blood.

The moonlight passed through the clouds and covered his face.

He laughed and looked happy. He then went back to the room and his bed. He quickly fell asleep.

On Nanshan Hill, Wang Yao looked at the stars. He felt a bit upset. The sky looked a little different. He looked to the northwest, which was very close to the mountain and though, Tomorrow will be a good day.

The next morning, light appeared in the sky early as the sun began to glow and heat up the day.

In the mountain village, a car stopped at the entrance of the clinic. A tall young man waited in the car until nearly 9 a.m., when Wang Yao came down from the mountain.

“Hello, Dr. Wang,” the young man said.

The treatment effect was obvious. The young man formally addressed Wang Yao, even though he looked about the same age.

“Hello.” This young man impressed Wang Yao because of his strange disease. “Was the medicine effective?”

“Yes, it is effective. I came back to the hospital for a check yesterday, and the benign tumor in my body has become smaller by a third,” the young man happily said. “By the way my name is Gu Qiucheng. Thank you very much.”

“Come in and let’s talk about it,” Wang Yao said.

He opened the door to the clinic and led Gu Qiucheng inside.

“Come, let me give you a check again.” Wang Yao sat down and checked him over. The sarcoma in the body was indeed shrinking. “I will give you another dose of medicine. You can back at this time tomorrow.”

“OK.” Gu Qiucheng left feeling happy.

Chen Jiagui was still asleep. Without any slightest sign, he suddenly sat up. It was just like what had happened the previous night. He had worn out the skin and flesh around his mouth. Many of his teeth were cracked, but he did not feel the pain.

A light of excitement came into his eyes. Oh, hah!

He put his tongue out and licked his lips. His tongue was covered with blood. Crushed bones was stuck to it. He got out of bed and looked in the mirror. He then went out.

It was a sunny spring day. The willows in the village were beginning to turn green. Vitality had reappeared on the Earth. It was getting warmer, so naturally some children went outside to play.

A little boy was playing ball outside. His grandmother was not far away. The child’s ball rolled out, so he went to chase it and entered an alley.

“Slow down!” A voice of an elder came from behind him.

The ball rolled to the foot of a person and stopped.

Huh? The child was a little curious. This person did not wear shoes. His bare feet had punctured skin and were bleeding. He raised his head to look. He saw the man’s bare upper body. The boy then saw the man’s mouth and screamed.

“Hao Ze, what’s wrong?” The old man who heard the scream rushed over. He saw his most beloved grandson being thrown by a man and fall heavily on the ground.

“Help!” The old man’s face was pale.

Another villager who was nearby heard the shout ran out of the house. “What’s wrong?”

He then saw Hao Ze crying on the floor. His eyes were red.

“Who did this!” He ran back to the house and rushed out with a knife. He then saw Chen Jiagui, who looked horrible.

What? The man was stunned. “Chen Jiagui, Do you want to die?”

“Hao Ze, Hao Ze, do you hurt yourself when you fell down?” The old man was holding the child, who did not speak but was crying heavily.

The child’s father had already slashed his knife toward Chen Jiagui. The knife stuck into his shoulder. He didn’t dodge it at all or cry in pain.

This man was shocked. “What happened?”

Chen Jiagui, who had been stunned, suddenly moved and grabbed the man in front of him. He opened his mouth to a bite his neck.

Ah! The man put forth all his strength to get rid of the Chen Jiagui, but his neck was bitten. The crazy man bit off a piece of flesh. The wound wouldn’t stop bleeding.

Chen Jiagui chewed the bloody human flesh a few times and swallowed.

The bitten man shivered. He must be crazy!

“Zu Cai!” shouted the elder who saw this scene from nearby.

His grandson fell down and cried. He hoped his son was not hurt.

At this time, Chen Ying and Chen Zhou just happened to pass by.

“Sister, look, that person!” Chen Zhou shouted after seeing Chen Jiagui, who was naked and had a bloody face.
