Chapter 170 - Compensating For His Sin
Bianca flipped her hair when her fringe fell over her eyes as she crouched down to open the bedside drawer. She grabbed all the medicines from inside and spread them on the bed. Meanwhile, Hera watched in confusion.Â
“What are you doing, Sunshine?” Hunter asked, mirroring Hera’s confused expression. “Feeding you your medicine, what else?” Bianca asked in a duh tone.Â
“Hera, be a good girl and fetch a glass of warm water for him. Come on, run off now,” she commanded. Hunter’s brows arched up in surprise, and he eyed Hera with an amused smile dancing on his lips. Hera crossed her arms over her chest in a defensive mode.Â
‘Is she kidding me or what?’
“Firstly, you don’t get to order me and secondly, why don’t you run down and bring him water while I feed him the medicine?” Hera asked, sounding defiant. Bianca stared at her disapprovingly.. “Huh, what can I expect from an adolescent child,” she muttered under her breath, but Hera heard it and judging by the way Hunter muffled his snicker behind his hand, he heard it too.Â
“Dear Hera, he needs water to consume these capsules and tablets. You can’t feed him until you bring water,” Bianca said informatively, her tone incredulous. Hera scowled in return and scoffed indignantly.Â
“Huh, what can one expect from an adolescent, immature child like you,” Hera retorted. She continued ignoring Bianca’s glare. “Don’t you know about this simple precaution that the patient needs to eat food before consuming any medicine? He has to have dinner first, Bianca. He can’t take medicines with an empty stomach,” Hera stated smugly.Â
Utterly embarrassed, Bianca gawked at her. “And to think you come from a family of efficient doctors. What a shame!” Hera said and snorted, ridiculing Bianca’s lack of knowledge. “How ignorant are you,” she stated.
Bianca clenched her fists, and she looked ready to wage war against Hera. Before she could utter an insult, Hunter started fake coughing to get their attention.Â
“Ladies, for your information, I stopped the medication a week ago with the doctor’s approval. I no longer need it as my injuries completely healed,” Hunter revealed and both the girls looked at him incredulously as if he offended them. He rolled his eyes at their pouting faces.Â
“Sunshine, let’s have dinner together. I missed all my friends and our time together. Can you go down and check what’s there for dinner? I’m starving,” Hunter said, gifting his best friend his charming smile, which he knew she couldn’t resist. Bianca was pleased with his request, and very enthusiastically, she nodded.Â
“I’ll go check right away, Ace and I’ll make sure it’s for your liking,” Bianca said while Hera huffed her anger out. Bianca stole all the attention from Hunter, and her sweet voice, her pleased smile irked Hera more.Â
“I’ll go assist Bianca and everyone with the cooking then,” Hera offered, imitating Bianca’s eager smile. Hunter frowned as if Hera spoke the alien language. “No, Goddess, she doesn’t need your assistance. Bianca can manage very well on her own,” Hunter said in a dismissing tone which pleased Bianca immensely.Â
Hera felt extremely offended by Bianca’s smug smirk.Â
She turned to glare at Hunter as soon as Bianca walked out of the room.Â
Hera parted her lips to curse at him, but Hunter kissed her words away. “I stopped you because I wanted to spend some more quality time with you to make up for the lost time,” he offered in his defence when he broke the kiss. Hera shoved him and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “Don’t lie, Lucifer, I know you’ll always take her side,” she said accusingly.Â
“I can actually imagine and see my future in front of my eyes in high definition. I know how my married life will be. I can see how my darling husband will put me on hold to talk to his dear Sunshine,” Hera said bitingly, her beautiful face scrunching in displeasure. Hunter grinned at her while she fixed him with a dirty look.Â
“If she calls you or knocks on our door on our wedding night, then you’ll leave everything behind to run after her. I bet it wouldn’t matter to you even if we are in the middle of intense lovemaking,” she said, her tone filled with bitter jealousy. Her boyfriend rolled his eyes at her dramatic narrative.Â
He crouched down to her level to meet her eye to eye, hands on his knees, a teasing smirk playing on his lips. “Intense lovemaking it is, huh?” Hunter asked suggestively and wiggled his eyebrows. ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
Hera shoved him away, putting distance between them. Hunter sighed audibly to get her attention and made a sad face.Â
“I promise I won’t receive any phone calls on our wedding night, and any person with common sense wouldn’t knock on the door with a ‘do not disturb’ sign. I’m setting my priorities, Goddess. I’ll choose intense lovemaking with you over every other thing,” he promised.Â
Hunter kissed her again to wipe the scowl off her beautiful face. “If you’re going to fight with me, I’ll never stop kissing you,” Hunter warned and smirked when she walked back and slumped on the bed.Â
“So, how was school? What did you do without me for a week?” Hunter asked, changing the topic. He knew how petty Hera could get when they fought because of Bianca.Â
Hera smiled at the mention of school. After all, she waited for so long to tell him about her new friend.Â
‘Now it’s my turn to annoy you, Mr Hunter.’
“I made a new friend,” Hera announced excitedly. Hunter’s nose scrunched up as if he was disgusted. “Your choice of friends started to scare me recently,” he admitted and eyed her with an unimpressed scowl. Hera gifted him a goofy smile and peered through her fluttering lashes. She was trying to be playful, he noticed.Â
“You’re going to love this one,” Hera stated, drawing out an eye-roll from her boyfriend. “I’m sure I’m going to love him so much that I may ditch you and marry him instead,” Hunter said sarcastically. Hera gave him a lopsided grin and scoffed. He always loved her arrogant self more. She looked hot when she was rude. “Yeah, right, as if you can live without this,” Hera said, motioning a hand over her form.Â
Hunter mock-glared, eyeing her disapprovingly. Hera pinched his cheek until it turned. He captured her wrist and moved it away from his face. Hera giggled and left a long noisy, wet smooch over his dimple where she had pinched. Hunter scowled in disapproval and wiped his cheek with the back of his hand. “Oh, my God! My Satan is blushing,” Hera whispered, faking excitement as she face-palmed herself.
He shoved her away, and Hera fell to her side on the large bed, laughing heartily.Â
“Noel and I are good friends now,” she said, capturing his full attention. He knew it as his friends had already told him everything. “The poor boy had asked me out weeks ago, but unfortunately, I never saw his letter. So to compensate for the disappointment I caused him, I agreed to be his friend,” Hera said. Hunter stared at her face with keen interest while she spoke animatedly.Â
“How can you not see the letter when it was lying in the front pocket of your bag?” He asked and shook his head, tone sounding unimpressed. Hera eyed him suspiciously. “How did you know about it, Lucifer?” She asked but didn’t wait for him to reply. “You knew he had left a letter in my bag, and you never told me?” Hera asked, accusing him.Â
“Apparently, his girlfriend cheated on him with you. He wants revenge, and to compensate for your sin, I agreed to be his friend,” Hera said, without hiding anything from him. When Hunter didn’t reply, she glared at him before biting the flesh under his left clavicle.Â
‘If his girlfriend cheated on him, then what is my fault in it? Shouldn’t he take his revenge on her?’Â
Hunter thought but didn’t dare to voice it out. Hera would feel offended for sure because he cheated on her as well. Hunter wouldn’t risk hurting her pride. So he bit his tongue to stop uttering something stupid and jeopardising their relationship. Hissing in pain, he apologised for cheating.Â
Hera checked the imprint her teeth left on his pale skin and hummed in satisfaction.Â
“You threaten every boy who tries to befriend me, and now that I think about it, I never did anything to punish you for cheating on me,” Hera stated, appearing to be in deep thought. Hunter straightened his posture in alarm. “What do you mean you didn’t punish me? For God’s sake, you broke up with me for two years,” he reminded her. Hera smiled at his panicked tone. “That wasn’t enough,” she said and smirked when Hunter widened his eyes.Â
“Mr Hunter, cheat on me again, and I’ll chop your dick off,” she vowed. Obediently, Hunter nodded his agreement.Â
