Chapter 84 - Picture Perfect
That day, Hera had learned the reason for his sadness.
He loved watching his parents dance to that song. They always looked so happy, and the smile on his mother’s face would brighten their world.Â
Hunter listened to that song every time he felt homesick and missed his parents. So Hera decided to erase that sadness and to give him another reason to be happy. She’d danced with him to that song each time. He’d taught his parents’ dance moves to Hera. They would listen to that same song whenever they felt lonely, and Hunter would dance with her. Since then it has become their favourite too.Â
“It’s just a little crush.
Not like I faint every time we touch …..”Â
 -A song by Jennifer Paige
Grinning and giggling in between, Hera sang along the lyrics while Hunter unwound her hands from his neck. He held her right hand in his left hand and placed her left hand on his right shoulder. His right hand made its way around her waist, securing her firmly against his front.Â
Hera looked into his hooded eyes, and her heart skipped a beat. She used to feel special every time he held her close to his heart. His warm embrace always made her feel safe and loved. He was her home until he broke her heart. She could tell by the way he’s looking at her that he too was remembering their special moments. His eyes turned misty, and Hera felt like drowning in them.Â
‘After everything you did, I still couldn’t stop loving you. Why?’Â
Her eyes closed shut, capturing his handsome face in them, and her heart fluttered when his lips landed a kiss on each of her eyelids. “I love you, my Goddess,” he whispered, before engulfing her in a tight hug.Â
Hera laughed when Hunter twirled her around again and again.Â
“Stop it now, Hunter, you’ll drop me into the pond if you lose balance, and I’m feeling dizzy already,” she scolded, mocking seriousness but her laughter never quieted. He stopped, but never let her go out of his arms. They rocked side to side, enjoying the warmth in each other’s arms while the song kept playing on repeat mode.Â
Suddenly, he pushed her forward, holding both of her hands in his and Hera squealed in surprise before he pulled her back. She gasped as she collided flushed against his chest. He smiled charmingly at her while she blushed. Holding her hand over her head, he turned her to the right, spinning her around and repeated the move as Hera laughed away in joy.Â
They danced and danced as the song kept playing. As usual, Hera stepped on his foot countless times, and in return, he threatened to drop her into the water. Even though they’d practised the same dance steps for years, Hera still couldn’t learn how to not step on his foot.Â
At last, he attempted a fancy dip, his favourite of every dance move. Hera was always afraid that he would drop her, but he never once did. He’d always been graceful and held her safely in his arms.Â
Hunter studied her face as the toothy grin broadened on her face. The water beneath her looked like a black pool, and the colour of her eyes darkened, making them even more beautiful in the dim light.Â
‘The perfect green, my favourite colour.’Â
He thought in appreciation. He could see the reflection of the trees and the moon in the water, but nothing looked more ethereal than the girl in his arms.Â
Hera’s grin slowly faded as she saw the look in his eyes, and she shivered under his intense gaze. She knew he wanted to kiss her, and proving her right Hunter’s face inched closer to hers. The wind blew his hair, making it stick out in places, and he looked adorable as ever when it fell on his brows, almost covering his eyes. But he kept staring into her eyes without blinking. ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
Silence filled except for the song playing in the background, but they could hardly listen to it. Lost in their own world, all they heard was their own heartbeats thumping crazily against their chests.Â
Hera closed her eyes in anticipation and waited for his lips to greet hers. He watched her breasts move up and down as her breathing turned heavy while she licked her dry lips.Â
Hunter’s eyes followed the lines of the blue veins in her neck and the hollow of her throat as she swallowed her saliva in an attempt to moisten the dryness in her throat. Everything she did was driving him crazy, and he desperately wanted to peel her dress off to feast on the rest of her beauty.Â
He felt like his heart stopped, and he couldn’t breathe, only to realise that he was holding his breath. He shook his head and erased all the sinful thoughts.Â
‘You’re too precious for me, my Love. I would die before losing you again.’
Hera was waiting and waiting for the kiss, which never came. She slowly opened her eyes, and he pulled her up, steadying her on her feet. Her face flushed beautifully with a darker shade of pink, and he kissed her on the forehead. Hera avoided his eyes, and he knew she was nervous.Â
She wondered what went wrong and why he didn’t kiss her. He turned her to the swans and ducks floating in the pond. Hera sat on the edge, bending her form she tried to touch them, but her hand couldn’t reach. “Give me your phone. I want to capture this beautiful scene,” she said, thrusting her palm out, but kept her eyes on the swans and ducks.Â
Squatting next to her, he handed his phone to her and watched as she unlocked his password-locked cell phone. Standing up, he turned away from her, pretending to watch the other side of the pool, but he was only trying to hide his joy from her.Â
Ever since he got a cell phone, he’d kept the same password, and Hera knew his password. It made him extremely happy that she never once thought that he might have changed the password after their supposed breakup because his password was her birthdate.Â
“Hunter,” he heard her calling his name and wiping his grin off he glanced over his shoulder. She wasn’t looking at him. She was angling the phone to capture the perfect picture of the pair of swans. “Do you have any indecent photos of me on your phone?” She asked, confusing him. Hunter frowned and walked back to her.Â
“What do you mean by indecent?” Hunter asked, genuinely sounding clueless, and Hera looked up at his tall frame giving him a suspicious look. “You know, Danny was blackmailing me when we’re back at home. He said you have indecent pictures of us together,” Hera revealed as her eyebrows furrowed while she scowled.Â
Hunter crossed his arms and laughed, making her scowl turn deeper. “What’s so funny?” She questioned, glaring at him.Â
He dragged a chair towards her and sat on it with his legs wide, manspreading. Placing his forearms on his thighs, he clasped his hands together. Hera leaned back in reflex as he leaned forward, bringing his face to hers. He had a playful expression on his face. “Goddess, we never did the dirty. So, what indecent pictures are you talking about?” He asked in an amused tone, and that arrogant smirk on his handsome face only made her feel stupid. But Hunter thought, she only looked cuter.
“I don’t know, he said pictures of us in bed and us kissing,” she said, avoiding his eyes. “That’s hardly indecent. Anyways, you knew whenever I clicked pictures of us,” he stated, and she nodded. “What was Danny blackmailing you for?” Hunter asked which Hera ignored answering. She asked him to show his social media account instead.Â
“Touch the app, and you can see the pictures. But you don’t have to worry as my account is private and only my friends have access to it,” he assured her, which meant Danny wouldn’t dare trying anything dirty to upset him. Hera nodded and focused on clicking the pictures.Â
She took pictures of the swans, ducks, trees, flowers, chairs and the table, the pond, everything surrounding her. She even managed to take a picture of a fish in the water. Hunter quietly laughed when she took pictures of roses on the table.Â
Snatching his phone from her hand, Hunter took her pictures, capturing her every mood. She smiled, laughed, scowled and made funny faces. He posted her picture on his social media account in which she was sticking her tongue out immaturely. Hera shot him a glare, and he got a chance to click a few more pictures of her cute angry face.Â
At last, she asked him to join her for a selfie, and when he was about to click, she kissed him on the cheek surprising him. Hera laughed at his shocked face. The moment was picture perfect. His heart did somersaults, and he couldn’t stop smiling. He made it the wallpaper on his phone screen, and Hera smiled in approval.Â
