“You!” Xie Yuqing’s entire body was trembling under An Qi’s rebuke. She would have stabbed her if it had not been for the dagger slipping out of her grasp.

“Did I say it wrongly?” An Qi had brought up An Yue from a young age and had seen many nasty women who caused them trouble. Xie Yuqing paled in comparison to the quarrelsome and mean middle-aged women.

“Why did you accuse Yue Yue of making Chen file a report against your father and cause your family to declare bankruptcy? If not for the fact that your father had committed a crime, why would he be afraid of others filing a report against him? Besides, a rich lady with your temperament is prone to offending others. Chen and the rest of his group find you displeasing in their sights, let alone going to such lengths to cause problems for you and your family. My lady, instead of wrongfully accusing Yue Yue, you should carefully consider who the bad guys you have offended! Yue Yue wouldn’t afford to live with this sin!”

“You…” Xie Yuqing’s complexion kept changing under An Qi’s aggressiveness. It took her some time before she recovered her senses and smirked, “You are a murderer’s daughter, a despicable peasant of the lowest level of the society. You are a lowly being. What else do you have besides a sharp tongue? Pfft! Bitch!”

Right after Xie Yuqing spoke, their expressions instantly changed. This was especially so for the two sisters.

“An Qi.” An Yue went forward and took An Qi’s cold hand in hers. Her eyes were filled with concern and heartache.

An Qi’s face had turned as white as sheets the moment Xie Yuqing said she was a murderer’s daughter. She snapped out of her trance upon hearing An Yue’s voice and forced a smile at An Yue to assure her that she was fine.

When Nie Yunfan heard Xie Yuqing’s words, he was astounded as well. He watched them closely as they stood against each other. His eyes flashed but he said nothing. He did, however, have a hunch in his heart.

Xie Yuqing was pleased with the reactions of the two sisters. Her unkempt appearance was tinged with mockery as she raised her voice and asked, “What’s the matter? Is there nothing to say? Say something! Weren’t you acting proudly a while ago? Instead of talking smugly to me as a murderer’s daughter, you should just behave humbly. Who is the shameless one now? Hah! What a fool I was to waste my time on you. I’m just lowering my standards to communicate with people like you.”

Nie Yunfan and An Yue could not help but frown upon hearing Xie Yuqing’s extremely nasty words. An Yue wanted to say something but An Qi cut her off.

“An Qi…”

An Qi shook her head. Her expression darkened. She took a step forward and spoke loudly, “You’re right. I’m the daughter of a murderer. So what?! At least I did not stoop down to attempted murdering myself like what you did just now!”

“What?!” The smile on Xie Yuqing’s face turned stiff.

“Xie Yuqing, didn’t you say you come from the so-called upper crust? Why can’t you understand English? Or, shall I say, your so-called noble status is no more than being associated with a gang of scum. As such, you only understand “scum” language rather than English, huh?”

“You… are so vulgar!” Xie Yuqing nearly passed out upon hearing An Qi’s words.

Meanwhile, An Qi snickered. She did not want to give Xie Yuqing a chance to refute her so she continued, “Vulgar? Maybe. We peasants aren’t as graceful as you. At the very least, I would not be as rash as you as to come stabbing others with a dagger!”

“You savage…”

Before Xie Yuqing finished screaming, An Qi had already snapped in, “Xie Yuqing, you are right. I am the daughter of a murderer. But does a murderer’s daughter have to be humble in everything she does? Since the day I was born, I have never committed a crime, not even murder or arson. I followed the law. I am not inferior to others, nor do I let them down. No one, including you, has the right to deny my existence and hard work!”

The other two on the spot were taken aback when they saw An Qi speaking so solemnly.

An Qi’s tone and demeanor indicated that she was not simply stating a fact, but rather reassuring herself and that certain part of her past.

Nie Yunfan narrowed his eyes as he stared at An Qi’s side profile. Something in his heart began to break through and start burning.

“You shameless bitch! No matter how you put it, it will never change the fact that you are a murderer’s daughter and you have a lowly nature. You…”

“Xie Yuqing, you truly don’t understand English. I just said that no one has the right to criticize my family or my past, and you are no exception.” An Qi looked up at Xie Yuqing. Xie Yuqing was about to say something but An Qi quickly interrupted her, “Xie Yuqing, you are luckier simply because you come from a more privileged background, are wealthier than me and have a better life than me. You have many small advantages that most poor men do not have. However, how much better can you be than me once you’ve left your home, your protective family, and your wealth? At the very least, I comprehend basic courtesy, honesty, decency and shamelessness. I wouldn’t covet something that wasn’t mine. Above all, I am aware that it is inhumane to stab someone with a dagger!”

An Qi’s words had pierced Xie Yuqing’s softest spot. The Xie family’s company had gone bankrupt as a result of a series of bad events, and the Xie family was saddled with massive debts and ended up on the streets.

Gone were the days when she was a princess who did not have to worry about basic necessities, could get whatever she wanted, and had a family who was always there to clean up her mess and protect her.

Meanwhile, people who had spent a long time living in a lower-class society could face adversity calmly, no matter how great the challenge was. This was because they were used to dealing with a variety of difficulties. They believed they were already in a bad situation and that nothing could be worse than their current circumstances. As a result, anything was worth a fight.

With this in mind, they were able to survive and persevere in the face of hardship. This was a classic case of a genius emerging from adversity.

On the other hand, those people who came from privileged backgrounds and were born with a silver spoon were highly spoiled from a young age. Their lives were relatively uneventful and hardly faced any setbacks.

As such, they naturally suffered several times more than normal people when they were suddenly struck by a blow that knocked them from their high and mighty seats.

There were hardly any people who were tenacious enough to restart everything from scratch and reclaim their glory. Some people were knocked down and never got back. Some blame gods and others. They screamed their way out of their own responsibilities and shifted the blame to others.

Xie Yuqing clearly belonged to the latter. She became increasingly enraged after hearing An Qi’s words.

She looked at the two women in front of her. One was the main culprit who had caused her and her family to suffer, while the other was a despicable scumbag who dared to speak back to her!

Xie Yuqing’s eyes turned red. She subconsciously looked at the blood-splattered dagger that was not far away..
