Chapter 582 There Will Be Blood
”You… have a lot to atone for…”
Even taking single steps at a time, Thor was so heavily intoxicated that it was taking what little concentration he had not to fall over.
“Have you any idea the magnitude of the embarrassment you have caused me…? The mud you have flung on my name by running around and playing house with that beast..!”
Ullr had to stand in front of the jotunn to prevent him from killing her on the spot.
If his mother was going to be killed, it would only be after she was fairly judged and volunteered all information that she knew about their enemy.
But the fact that Thor already did not care for Ullr proved to be the last spark needed for him to light his fuse.
“Ah… perhaps this is where the problems began.” *Hiccup* “I should have acted on my first impulse before I took you as my bride… Taught you that there is no past or future other than me.”
Faster than the eye could see,Thor unhooked a large silver hammer from his waist and bashed Ullr across the jaw.
Neglecting to brace himself in any way came with severe consequences- as not only did Ullr lose his entire lower jaw, but his body was also tossed aside like a baseball as he went flying through the wall of his wooden home.
Sif covered her mouth in horror as she backed further into Uriel unconsciously.
“Was that necessary?” the angel held Sif by the shoulders with a gentle, but firm grip so that she wouldn’t move about erratically.
Thor remained uncaring as he rubbed the now bloody hammer on his pants.
“Do I interrupt any of your marital council, pigeon..?”
“…You know that we are all unwed-“
“THEN SHUT UP!” Releasing a yell like booming thunder, Thor lunged forward and grabbed Sif by the hair before hoisting her high in the air.
“THIS IS BETWEEN ME AND MY WIFE!!”
With tears in her eyes, Sif finally realized that she may have been waiting in this game for a bit too long.
“N-Now!”
At one moment, Thor’s bandaged arm was completely intact.
In the next, a large bat creature had literally bitten off most of his bicep and forearm.
Camazotz ripped away so much flesh from Thor’s body that the norse god’s bones were actually revealed.
He howled like a dog as his mind and body reeled from the pain of the unexpected bite.
The surprises didn’t cease there, as numerous shadowy figures suddenly leapt out of the ground.
Odin nonchalantly shifted his staff slightly to one side, and blocked an incoming attack aimed at his neck.
*Clang!*
The dwarven steel of his weapon clashed against an unfamiliar golden material in the form of a sharpened katana.
Odin took in the sight of an unfamiliar man with a golden mask and snowy white hair.
From what he could tell, he seemed to be rather young in age, and with features so fine that he practically resembled a woman.
The horns on his head were both dragon-like and demonic in origin, giving him a total of four.
His clothes and armor were black in color and light on the body, and there were several scabbards stored across his belt and chest that each contained a different kind of stealth weapon.
“Resorting to assassination attempts now, Sif..? Oh how low you have fallen.” Odin shook his head in disappointment.
Zheng observed the lack of true surprise in Odin’s face and he had a horrible realization.
“You knew we were here…”
“Naturally. Do you think that I would have called those two here just for their company if I couldn’t have seen you?” Odin gestured to the archangels.
Zheng watched as Odin’s eye flickered between a normal retina and a golden rune in the shape of three upward pointing triangles.
In that moment, the captain of the wraith moons couldn’t believe he had been so foolish.Even dragon children study the backstories of the numerous gods.
Everyone knew of Odin’s ability to see all in his world- a power granted to him by the waters of cosmic knowledge.
Zheng knew that they should have moved as soon as the all-father showed up, but were too confident in their hiding place.
“I won’t lie to you, assassin, I’m upset.” Odin shook his head. “But not because you are trying to kill me. I am insulted by… your overconfidence.”
Zheng drew a short golden tanto from behind his back and lunged for Odin’s belly with impossible speed.
And yet, somehow Odin not only reacted fast enough to catch him by the wrist with his free hand, but he appeared to have seen it coming from miles away.
“Your master thinks too little of me. Just because I suffered one defeat in unfavorable conditions he thinks he can send any rabble to test me? I am no mere trifle for fledglings to cut their teeth on.”
To perfectly prove his claim, Odin bashed his head against Zheng’s with so much force that it made even the skull of a dragon crack.
Though Odin was not quite as big as his son, he was also in possession of giant’s blood, and as a result he held a titanic strength that was even greater than Thor’s.
It is important to remember a few things about the Wraith Moons.
Their numbers consist only of True Dragons and Spirits, not Nevi’im.
To keep their full range of powers whenever they are sent to specific realms, they are the only military body in Tehom that is specifically not allowed to have Nevi’im among it’s ranks.
But this also means that they are among the weakest, hence the reason they rely heavily on stealth, poisoned weapons, and traps.
They are scalpels, not swords.
Engaging in head on fights like this is highly disadvantageous for them, especially against a god of war.
In the brief moment where Zheng’s skull was nearly caved in by the tremendous force, his mind temporarily went white.
Odin twirled his staff with one hand and used it to sweep Zheng’s legs out from underneath him.
In quick succession, he used the butt end of the weapon to drive his body into the ground; dispersing all snow around them for fifty feet and knocking the wind from Zheng’s lungs.
“You can have this back too.” Odin threw Zheng’s tanto with two fingers and perfectly stapled his hand to the ground with minuscule effort.
Out of the corner of Zheng’s eyes, he could see the state that all of his men had fallen into.
Michael and Uriel were the biggest problems here.
Together they made this entire mission practically impossible.
Possessing primordial power meant they were one of the few entities who could restrain young true dragons without a fuss.
Even now, every one of them was suspended in thin air and bound with chains of golden light.
Whether the Wraiths were in the form of dragons or their normal appearances did make much of a difference.
They were outmatched by the archangels on nearly every scale.
But Zheng relaxed when he realized that none of that mattered, and his eyes even seemed a little humorous.
“Hm? Why do you seem so amused?” Odin knocked away Zheng’s mask and revealed his face that was literally indistinguishable from a woman’s.
An impossibly beautiful woman at that.
Odin was so stunned by the unfettered charm of the leader of the Wraith Moon’s that he finally had an actual look of surprise on his face.
While he was at a loss for words, he missed the scene that had made Zheng smile in the first place.
Sif hadn’t just sat around crying when things had started to go badly.
She kept in mind their exit strategy, and ran towards her son’s home in a hurry.
Michael did see her going, but he thought she was going to check on Ullr and as such, made no moves to stop her.
He didn’t notice anything odd until he saw her heading for the front door instead of the large hole in the wall.
Frantically, she held her hand up to her face and said four words that almost sent him into cardiac arrest.
“T-Take me to Abaddon!”
A glowing rune showed up on her hand that even the twin of Lucifer did not recognize.
Before he could stop Sif, she threw open the front door to Ullr’s home.
–
Out of all of Abaddon’s children, Nubia can be said to be the most ‘normal’.
She has no interest in fighting.
No desire to really study her divinities or grow her magic.
The only training she really does is a light morning jog within the forest that hides their home.
She doesn’t have a large interest in drinking alcohol either- much to Valerie’s dismay.
Nubia prefers to explore more ‘human’ pastimes, like their cultures, art, and history.
Surprisingly, she even likes engaging in social interactions.
There is a small coffee shop that she frequents in the city, and it was there that she made a group of friends around her age.
Because of them, she was able to discover the one thing that she was truly passionate about and wanted to pursue.
Art and fashion design.
Currently, Abaddon was lying on his back within the garden- resting peacefully underneath the shade of a tree.
Or at least he was doing that, until Nubia came and found him with her sketchbook in hand and a somewhat anxious look on her face.
Much to Abaddon’s surprise, his daughter had ended up showing him the designs for some really high-end looking clothes.
“W-What do you think..?”She asked nervously. “I thought that… maybe…you and mom might like to wear them to the induction ceremony next month…?”
Abaddon rubbed his jaw like he was troubled.
“I don’t know, Nubby… I sort of prefer your mothers without clothes.”
“T-This is not the time for jokes, you dirty old man!” Nubia punched her father in his stomach as he laughed.
Inadvertently, Abaddon showed his daughter a bit of favoritism, as he usually would have chastised anyone who called him old.
He ruffled her hair as he smiled at her with all of the fondness in the world.
“I must say, I’m quite proud to see you exploring new avenues and finding your own interests. It makes me-“
All of the sudden, Abaddon began to get an unsettling feeling in his stomach.
“Dad?” Nubia asked in concern.
“Please, wait a moment, my dear.”
He immediately sat up and looked around in confusion before his eyes settled on the wooden gates that led back into the manor.
Suddenly, the formerly ordinary planks developed a magical glow before they swung open to reveal a setting that certainly wasn’t the inside of his home.
Sif emerged through the door out of breath, in a panic, and with her hair strewn messily all over her body.
“A-Abaddon, we need your he-“
Sif never got to fully voice her desperate cry for help, because the moment that she stepped foot into the garden a bolt of blue lightning tore through her chest from behind.
