GHML – Chapter 10.1: Shang Jing! You Did This On Purpose? (1)
He Jiang took another gulp of mineral water.
What did he expect? Why did he believe Shang Jing would make a meal for him obediently? It was already a blessing he did not poison the food.
Moreover, didn’t he tell himself he was satisfied Shang Jing did not blow the kitchen up?
With a series of positive mental reinforcement to manage his expectations, he eventually managed to quell his rising anger.
His anger was quelled but Shang Jing was about to explode!
To humiliate his food was the same as humiliating him! He had worked so hard to make this meal! He did not do anything weird, did not poison the food, decorated the dish nicely, and provided before and after meal service. In exchange, all he got was such a comment?
“What do you mean by ‘even dogs would not eat it’?”
“Are you looking down on the food made by us commoners? Then don’t eat at home!” Steam was rising from the top of his head. He sat himself down at the table and snatched the set of fork and knife over from He Jiang’s hands. “If you don’t want to eat it, I will. We are from different worlds, it will be better for us to dine separately in the future!”
Shang Jing had long since lost his appetite from all the anger. He sliced the beef into smaller pieces with rough motions while shooting beams out of his eyes, as though the meat he was slicing into was He Jiang’s heart.
He had enjoyed those overcooked dumplings of his previously. Now that I am the one doing the cooking, he’s reacting this way?
Finding all sorts of ways to chase me away?
Shang Jing stared at the mashed-up foie gras on the plate. They were like his torn-up ego, being spit into the trash like a piece of valueless trash.
“Heaven will bring great wealth to the people, but they must first suffer in their minds and work their bodies.” Shang Jing recited a Buddhist scripture under his breath to calm himself.
He Jiang wants him to move out, he will never move out! He Jiang said his food was unappetizing even to dogs, he will finish them all!
Noticing Shang Jing’s determination to finish the table of disgusting food just to piss him off, He Jiang quickly stopped him. “Don’t eat it.”
He had paid Auntie Huang such a high salary to provide nutritious meals to aid in his recovery. Now that Shang Jing finally had some life in him, he could not bear to see him eat such disgusting food, even if it was a small bite.
What if it caused him to vomit and lose even a little of that healthy blush on his cheeks? Who would compensate him?
Shang Jing sneered. “Let me be. I’ll finish all of them.”
He Jiang was done arguing with him. He pulled out the bin and dumped the contents on the plate into it.
“I’ll order some take-out.”
When the first plate was poured into the bin, Shang Jing had still yet to react. But when everything he cooked was lying lifelessly in the bun, a loud buzzing sound sounded in his ears.
When he read the diary, he had merely been infuriated by his simp personality, and not felt much from He Jiang throwing away the food he made.
Now that he had experienced it first hand, he could finally understand the underlying emotions behind it.
Molten anger coursed through his veins, spreading through his body at free will. All his accumulated dissatisfaction from having to tolerate and give in to things just because he was living under someone else’s roof exploded and spread like wildfire, getting larger and larger as time ticked by.
His eyes were bloodshot but tears seemed to have evaporated from the heat of anger. Like a struggling trapped beast, he went straight for He Jiang’s wrist.
“Sss…” He Jiang clenched his arm muscle. He subconsciously wanted to pull his arm back. But when he saw Shang Jing’s clenched fists around the fork and knife, he stopped. He closed his eyes and looked upwards to prevent his tears of pain from falling.
What if he resorted to using the knife if he stopped him from biting him now?
The pain on his wrist made him realize where he had gone wrong.
In his rush to get rid of those disgusting foods, then ordering take-out for the benefit of everyone, he had overlooked one thing.
Shang Jing still does not know how bad his food tastes.
He had thrown all of them away before this rascal took a bite and realize how gross the mutton and beef-flavored foie gras was.
He Jiang felt his head ache as he stared at the brick-size beef in the trash can.
There was no way he could fish that out from the trash can for Shang Jing to taste…
