Chapter 23
Chapter 23
Jiang Yi asked someone to send Zeng Ying back to Cloud Town. When she returned to the courtyard pavilion, a servant came up to her. “Madam, the chairman of Hengjiang is here to visit. He’s in the living room.”
After waiting for a few days, Jiang Huifeng finally arrived.
Jiang Yi’s thin and soft lips curved into a mocking smile. She then asked, “When did he come?”
“A little after two o’clock. He’s been waiting for a while.”
“You didn’t say I had something to do?”
“I did. Chairman Jiang said he was waiting for you to come back.”
.
Jiang Yi walked towards the living room. When she saw a person sitting there, she smiled and said, “It’s really rare that Chairman Jiang came to visit me. I thought you didn’t want to see me for the rest of your life.”
Jiang Huifeng’s expression froze. He turned around and looked at her. “You’re my daughter. How can we not see each other for the rest of our lives? There were some misunderstandings in the past. Let me apologize to you.”
“If apologizing was useful, why would you need the police? Don’t tell me that my brother will still be alive if you say you’re sorry?”
“It’s been so many years. Why are you still bringing up these things? Did I kill Jiang Ru? I’m his biological father. No matter how much I dislike him, it’s impossible for me to harm his life.”
“You didn’t kill him. You just ignored him. His death from starvation has nothing to do with you. His death from illness has nothing to do with you. How dare you say that you’re his biological father?”
“Jiang Yi!”
Her words finally angered the man. Jiang Huifeng stood up from the sofa and pointed at her as he cursed, “Why didn’t you say anything when you almost killed me six years ago? You even pushed your biological sister down the stairs! If the Qin family finds out about your dirty deeds, let’s see if they’ll still want you, a lunatic!”
Her dark and cold almond-shaped eyes looked at him with hostility. However, in the next second, Jiang Yi suddenly clutched her stomach and held the back of the sofa with a pale face. “Chase him out. Don’t let the Jiang family come here again.”
The servants surrounded her and asked with concern, “Madam, are you okay?”
“My stomach hurts. Call a doctor.”
With that, Jiang Yi glared at Jiang Huifeng fiercely. “Go ahead and sue then. It’s best if the whole world knows that the second young mistress of the Qin family is a murderer and that the future Young Master Qin is a murderer’s son!”
Jiang Huifeng’s face alternated between green and white. When he saw Jiang Yi clutching her stomach, he remembered that she was pregnant with Qin Jinchen’s child and that it might be the eldest grandson of the Qin family.
The Qin family was not an ordinary wealthy merchant. They had been established in the capital for a hundred years and were involved in the three realms of commerce, politics, and military. They were a family that really had the throne to inherit.
Jiang Huifeng took a deep breath and said, “I was too harsh. You were provoked at that time. How would you know what you were doing? You can’t be considered a murderer.”
“Tell him to get out. My stomach hurts whenever I see him.”
Jiang Huifeng’s expression became even uglier. He was the richest man in S City and was used to being flattered. He had absolute authority in the family and outside. When had he ever suffered such grievance?
Before the servant could speak, he was so angry that he flung his hands and left.
Even if Jiang Yi was pregnant and had a connection with the Qin family, based on her unscrupulous temperament, it would not bring any benefits to the Jiang family. He did not care either!
When Jiang Huifeng left, Jiang Yi straightened her body. She no longer looked like she was in pain.
Not long after, the doctor came over. It was the old Chinese doctor.
He checked Jiang Yi’s pulse and looked at her with a complicated expression. He then said, “The month is still young. Madam, please be happy. Otherwise, it will be easy for the fetus to slip.”
Jiang Yi replied indifferently and gestured for the servants to send the doctor away.
These servants were arranged by Gong Xueming and were considered trusted aides. However, Jiang Yi did not tell them the truth. She still had to be thorough in her acting.
When she returned to her room to rest, the servants even brought her a bowl of traditional Chinese medicine to nourish her fetus.
Jiang Yi looked at the black traditional Chinese medicine with a cold expression.
She leaned lazily on the bed and caressed her lower abdomen.
The old doctor’s words reminded her that it was still the first trimester, so it was fine. If it was too long in the future, it would be difficult to pretend.
