HALF: DEAD NOR ALIVE

Chapter 171 Fell for her.

“When did you follow me? I told you to hide, no?” Archie asked as he went on his knees and stared at Elena in the eye.

“I’m scared, and I don’t like it here because I see dead people,” Elena answered as she kept staring at Eve. “Also, I feel safe when I near you because your parasites are so strong,” Elena continued as she turned her head to look at Archie.

“Hmm? Who’s this little cute girl?” Eve asked as she walked toward them. She then sat down and patted Elena’s head with a gentle smile on her face.

“Elena, she brought here, and one of the subjects. Luckily they haven’t done anything much to her because they don’t want to do an experiment to a small kid, especially a girl,” Archie answered as he looked around to make sure that everything was safe.

Elena looked up at Eve’s bloody hand, and then she grabbed it with both hands and pulled it down. She rubbed and stared at Eve’s hand carefully, but she didn’t show any expression or say a single word.

“Are you not afraid of me, Elena?” Eve asked with her eyebrows raised.

“No, because you’re not hostile toward me, and the parasites inside your body are friendly toward me,” Elena answered as she looked at Eve. “They all love you and happy to be inside your body,” Elena continued.

Eve looked a bit confused as she looked at Archie.

“She can feel the parasites and for some reason, the parasites don’t want to attack her. She has unique ability that we both don’t have,” Archie explained.

“Is that so? Then I guess that explains why she has a unique presence,” Eve replied as she stared at Elena who was still busy staring at her hand. “Are you going to bring her back with us?” Eve asked.

“Yes, because she doesn’t have a place to go. She lost her family and I think it’s better if we bring her back with us. I want to know more about her since she hasn’t shown all her abilities,” Archie answered as he nodded in agreement. “What about you? Did you get anything from this base?” Archie asked back.

“Yes, I got a lot of stuff. I put them in the bag, and I think we should leave before the reinforcement comes,” Eve answered as she looked at the lift. “Follow me, I know an emergency exit and we should be able to leave easily as long as we use Dale and Marlyn’s identities,” Eve continued as she stood up.

Archie nodded with understanding, and then he lifted Elena up so he could carry her in his arms.

Archie followed Eve from behind as they entered a door that led to a long hallway after she tore the base down and made them collapse. It was so dark since the emergency power was out, but it wasn’t a problem for either of them.

They saw a door at the end of the hallway, and then Eve opened the door. The moment they were out, a bunch of group Axis Humans were there and preparing themselves to enter the base in a basement that looked like a hidden parking lot.

“Hey, stop right there!” One of the Axis Humans said as he walked toward them. “Identify yourself,” He continued.

“Marlyn, and that’s Dale,” Eve answered and pretended to be scared as she showed her ID card. “Please, get in there and save the others! The parasites are unleashed, and everyone from level 1 down to level 5, they won’t make it out alive if you’re not hurry!” Eve said as she pointed at the door in a trembling voice.

“I was in level 5, and everyone the test subjects are out. I was lucky to be alive,” Archie said and acted scared as well.

The guy looked at his team and immediately gave them a signal.

“Alright, you’re safe out here, there’s no need to be worried about,” The guy said as he lowered his gun as he checked Marlyn’s ID card. “Also, who is she? I don’t think a kid should be in there,” The guy looked at Elena with curiosity and suspicion.

“She’s one of the subjects from level 5. I’m planning to transfer her to another base because Jenny entrusted me to get her out safely,” Archie answered.

“I see, then I will make a call to escort you to the base you want to go,” The guy said as he nodded with understanding.

“Thank you,” Archie answered.

“Alright, let’s get inside! We are wasting our time here!” The guy shouted at his team.

They all hurriedly got inside the door after the guy made a phone call to escort Archie and Eve.

“Are we really going to another base,” Elena asked in a worried voice.

“Of course not,” Eve said with a gentle smile as she stroked Elena’s hair gently. “Was our acting really that good?” Eve asked as she chuckled softly.

“Oh, wow, you guys are so good,” Elena was genuinely amazed by it.

Eve immediately fell for Elena, and she took Elena from Archie’s arms so she could carry her instead.

“Alright, let’s leave before the escort come to pick us up,” Eve said as she looked at Archie.

They left the basement as they changed their appearance and removed their lab coats. They casually walked on the sidewalk as if nothing had happened. All the pedestrians were walking past them, and they had no idea what was happening in that building. It looked so peaceful from outside and that made things easier for them to leave without a trace.

“Alright, I want you to hang on tight and don’t let go of me, okay?” Eve said as she looked at Elena in her arms.

“Okay,” Elena replied as she buried her face on Eve’s chest as she wrapped her small arms around Eve’s body.

Eve was smiling happily as she looked at Elena, and Archie could tell she adored Elena so much.

“Alright, here we go,” Eve said as she pulled out her wings from her back.

Eve quickly flew up into the sky, keeping a close eye on Elena to make sure she didn’t get sick or damage her ears. She followed Archie, watching over her baby girl, as she laid her head on Eve’s chest.

“You can look around, it’s beautiful up here,” Eve said.

Elena slowly pulled her head back, feeling the air around her, and her eyes were wide open when she saw the clouds and the blue sky around her. She looked down and saw the beautiful city, with her mouth wide open, and she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

“Do you like it up here?” Eve asked with a smile.

“This is awesome!” Elena answered with a huge smile.

“Don’t look down for too long, it might make you sick. Just rest your head on my chest for now,” Eve said.

Elena turned her head to look at Eve, and then she looked at Eve’s beautiful white wings. She couldn’t help but admire Eve’s wings with her eyes glimmering in excitement because she wanted to touch them as soon as they landed.

It took them an hour until they arrived in the village, and everyone was running out of their houses. Fanheim and Marlon were in the barnhouse, and they saw Eve was slowly putting Elena down to the ground.

Eve looked at Fanheim, and then removed her purse from her shoulder. She tossed the purse at him.

“Everything that you need to know should be in there. All the information about the serum, the experiment, and all kind of test they’re doing inside,” Eve said as she pointed at the purse. “Also, it appears that everyone that succeeded in the previous experiment, like Faye. They wanted to use them for another experiment to make them even stronger,” Eve explained.

Fanheim hummed as he looked at the dozens of flash disks inside the purse.

“Thank you, and what about the base?” Fanheim asked.

“It’s gone, it’s collapsed and I don’t think it’s useable anymore for them. I made sure that all the computers and all the memory drives are unsafeable,” Eve answered as she grabbed Elena’s hand.

“Good, good,” Fanheim nodded his head as he looked at Elena. “And who is she?” Fanheim asked.

“She’s one of the subjects, and Archie was the one who found her,” Eve answered as she offered her right wing to Elena so she could play with it. “I want to take care of her and see what’s special about her because they kept her in a small room for months,” Eve said as she looked at Elena rubbing her face on Eve’s wing.

“I see, then I guess Archie could tell us the details,” Fanheim replied.

“Yes, I will tell you everything that I saw down there,” Archie nodded his head with understanding. “Looks like you’re going to play around with her. You can go, I will handle the report from here and out,” Archie said to Eve.

“Okay,” Eve replied with a smile.
