Chapter 138 – Li Mu has Arrived

Li Mu was surprised to find the Bat Clan in the desolated desert. He knew that bats preferred to stay in places that were dark and humid.
Being able to smell them even when they were so far away meant that there must be a large number of them.
That was only the explanation for the intense stench blood that Li Mu could smell. These bats could transform into puddles of blood.
Zhou Tian finally caught on. “Shit! It’s the Bat Clan!” he yelled.
Li Mu raised his brows in acknowledgement before grabbing the group of five people and flying straight into the forest.
Ahead of them, they saw that only three hundred of the thousand people from the Zhou family remained. The Bat Clan meanwhile, still had more than a thousand people still standing.
“Break through their frontline!” the leader of the Bat Clan ordered.
Half of the bats remained to continue fighting the Zhou family, but the rest broke off from the pack to charge towards the humans’ backline.
“Come!” the leader of the Zhou family yelled.
“Hehe! You are all going to be my food! I’ll devour all the weak ones first before enjoying the fat ones like you!” the leader of the Bat Clan smirked as he pointed at the leader of the humans.
The vice-leaders of the Bat Clan immediately secured the leader of the Zhou family while the leader of the bats charged towards the backline.
Unlike the defense set up by the Zhou family leader, the backline was much easier to take down.
It was as if the backline was a group of sheep being attacked by a pride of lions.
Despite having more than ten thousand people, their cultivation was too weak to defend themselves.
“Take the bats down even if we have to die trying!” one of the humans yelled.
“If you have the chance to kill a bat, do it! Even if you can’t, try to stall them so the others can help!”
“He’s right! Charge!”
The humans yelled as they prepared themselves to face the attack from the Bat Clan.
Each of the bats was surrounded by more than ten humans. Even if the humans died in the fight, they could at least wound the bat they were attacking. Together, they might make a difference.
The bats were feeling a little surprised and slightly humiliated. The enemy they had viewed as simple livestock was fighting back.
A middle-aged man readied himself for the battle. He turned to his friend standing next to him. “Bro, if you live through this, help me take care of Xiao Mei,” he said as he stabbed his sword through a bat’s heart.
As the bat collapsed, it stabbed its claws through the man’s chest and pulled out his heart.
“No!” Another man yelled when he saw the devastating sight. He charged towards the remaining bats despite suffering from a wound. “You vile creatures! Die!”
The man grabbed one of the bats by its legs and tackled. The bat struggled as its claws dug deep into the man’s back.
“Let me help! Take any chance you can get,” yelled an elderly man. He grabbed onto a bat and wrapped a chain around himself. The other end of the chain was tied to a large, unmovable rock. He was determined not to let go of the bat until someone killed it.
In the midst of desperation, the members of the Zhou family decided to sacrifice themselves so that the others could live.
Seeing how determined the humans were, the bats began to hesitate.
“Leader, we’re on the losing side! We’ve lost way too many comrades!” one of the bat’s vice-leaders reported as soon as it noticed the problem.
The leader gritted its teeth in anger. “These shitty humans!”
“You have to make the call! If this keeps on, our people will run!”
“Do you really think retreating is an option? Do you? We’ve been fighting for so long, and we’ve lost so many bats! And we didn’t even get a single bite of the humans! Master will kill us if we go back like this!”
The Bat Clan was now stuck between two choices…
“How about we ask Jun Fang to help us? Their troops are nearby! At least we can get some of our fill,” the vice-leader suggested.
“But…”
The leader didn’t like the idea of sharing his food with another party. Yet, there was no other option available for them.
With his mind made up, the leader let out a shriek to signal to another team from the bat clan just a few hundred miles away.
In an instant, a new group of bats charged towards the location as they let out shrieks in reply.
The group of bats that was in battle heard their allies’ cried. They immediately regained their confidence.
The Zhou family felt even more desperate now.
The human leader bellowed to his men: “Listen up! Even if all of us perish here, we will not die alone! Fight! Take them down with us!”
“The leader is right! Take them down with us!” The members of the Zhou family roared in agreement.
Their cheer was so loud that it drowned out the bats’ shrieks.
However, a low rumbling sound suddenly appeared. The remaining humans turned to look at the source.
It was now the bats’ turn to cheer.
It was just like the scene the humans saw a few years ago, where the Bat Clan climbed their walls like a swarm of ants.
It immediately reminded the humans of the terror they’d experienced back then.
“We’re doomed…”
Despair could be seen on the humans’ faces.
Most of the people from the Zhou family were normal humans, and their cultivations were no more than a Saint.
“My son!”
“Father!”
Cries began to echo in the forest as the humans awaited their deaths.
“You two are the future of the Zhou family!” a woman cried as she spoke to her two sons. “Run! Go into the desert and follow Brother Tian’s path! Even if you have to die, you can never let the bats eat your flesh!”
“Mom!”
“Don’t cry! Just go!”
“No! We won’t leave you!”
Next to the Zhou family, the Qin family was also staring at the bats. They wanted to hate the Zhou family for dragging them into this mess, but they couldn’t.
“We’ll die with them. At least we will die with pride!”
“I’d rather be an animal in my next life. Being a human is too tiring…”
Members of the Qin family began to bid farewell to each other as well.
Those who didn’t want to die or didn’t want to see their friends and relatives die decided to venture into the desert. They would rather perish in the desert than in the hands of the bats.
Meanwhile, in the desolated desert, six figures rushed through the sand-covered land.
Li Mu scanned the forest with his divine consciousness. He could feel a wave of anger rising inside him. He spoke to the five-man group he was carrying, “Rest here and recover your energy.”
He then whispered to himself, “Absorb all the check-in energy…”
He’d gained more than nine thousand years’ worth of power and three pills while he was inside the desert.
In that instance, he absorbed all that power. A surge of energy rose inside him,
Cracks could be heard from Li Mu’s body while a thunderous cloud formed above his head.
“Go!”
He unleashed the Phoenix Blood Sword and aimed it at the leader of the Bat Clan group.
Thousands of purple lightning struck the bats that were in the middle of the fight with the Zhou family.
Those who didn’t turn into dust by the lightning strike were completely stunned by it.
The humans finally had their chance to fight back, and they swiftly brought their blades towards the paralyzed bats’ necks.
Lightning continued to strike the battlefield until only a small number of bats were left standing.
The first to react was the Zhou family. “Our backup is here!”
Meanwhile, the leader of the Bat Clan was sent flying back by the Phoenix Blood Sword.
The bat was thrown into a tree as its blood spilled into the surrounding area.
The sword pulled itself back as the leader muttered, “What…”
Before it could finish its sentence, the blade launched itself back towards the bat again and sliced its head off.
The headless corpse was then struck by lightning, turning it into dust.
“Yeah!” The humans cheered as they were finally out of danger.
Just five miles away from the battlefield, the Bat Clan’s reinforcement stopped.
“It’s an ambush!”
“Retreat!” Jun Fang ordered, his face completely darkened when he barely noticed a certain person high up in the sky. He then turned and ran.
The rest of the bats were stunned for a second before following their leader.
“Do you think you can outrun me?”
