I Hate Systems

Chapter 625: For I’m The Reason

Chapter 625: For I’m The Reason

Even though destroying a System was impossible, killing its mind was a simple process. After all, he only needed a Relic to achieve that.

Among the System Slayers that had convened in the meeting with Slayer, it was Slayer that worked on harnessing the thoughts, wills, and emotions of the Systems growing in their minds, transferring them into their respective Relics/Pseudo-Relics.

The System Slayers that had reached level 99 too had the same capability. Of course, such a power originated from the Shaman profession in the first place.

And only Shaman Kings had that. That was why, there was a good chance Slayer managed to create Relics from the Shaman Kings of the past that were now wielded by all the System Slayers that had reached the peak, allowing them to do this.

Of course, as a Shaman King himself, Regriel was aware of the ways to do it. And unlike the previous generations of Shaman King, he was a Cartographer, capable of deciphering all details regarding things he perceived.

And through that, he had long since delved into the secrets of the Systems. And when his perspective on things changed, so did his plans. So, when he and Tehela mated, the Totem System flowed into her womb through his seed while her Relic System had arrived there in the first place.

But just when the two Systems were about to fuse, a mysterious power burst out of the Totem System that enveloped the two, resulting in their fused state to become a Totem, a Pseudo-Relic.

Moreover, as the womb developed a child that inherited this totem, something mystical happened. They had gone against the natural fate, achieving something that wasn’t deemed possible.

And hence, a concept was birthed in the forming baby’s mind, growing a fragment of the Main Character System.

This was when Regriel fused the fragment into the totem, turning it into a Personal Fragment. Even until then, it had been Tehela’s, for it was happening in her womb.

But once birthed, Tehela lost her powers as a System Host and wasn’t even a System Slayer. She only possessed the Pseudo-Relics that she had originally created using the Relic System.

The birthed child Gehera now possessed a Personal Fragment that was a totem Pseudo-Relic, capable of automatically siphoning all System fragments that grew in her mind to devour and strengthen itself.

Moreover, Regriel didn’t wish for her to be controlled by such a power, understanding that the only way to truly wield the power of her Personal Fragment was by being a Cartographer like him.

And thanks to that, he ensured that she was born a Cartographer.

Bang!

Suddenly, Tehela rushed into her home, flustered as she panted, alarming Regriel that got up in response, asking her in a hurry, “What happened?”

“It’s…” Tehela was just about to comment before realising that she hadn’t told Regriel about her past, deciding between each other to not pry into each other’s past.

So, she couldn’t just tell him that she just came across some Goblins on her way to the market. Shaking her head, Tehela said, “It’s nothing. I was just being paranoid.”

“It’s definitely not nothing.” Regriel said, approaching her as he held her shoulder, “I promised to not pry into your past. But this doesn’t seem like the time to uphold it. Your emotions wouldn’t be such a mess if it wasn’t something serious.”

“Shouldn’t you be aware by now?” Tehela suddenly snapped in response, glaring at him, “How long are you planning to act ignorant?”

“W-What?” Regriel was stunned, wondering what Tehela was going about now.

“You’re a genius among geniuses as a Cartographer…” Tehela said slowly, “Whether it’s animate or inanimate, you’re able to draw out information from them through touch alone. And, we’ve been together for eight years now…”

Her eyes moistened as she stared at him, “Shouldn’t you be aware of everything about me by now?”

“Yeah…” Regriel let out a long breath of air, nodding in response. As Gobugobumon, he didn’t know much about Tehela. But as Regriel, he indeed came to learn more about her, having a better understanding of her nature than herself.

“But, I can’t read your memories.” Regriel said, looking at her, “So, you’ll have to tell me. Otherwise, I won’t be able to grasp the entire picture.”

“It’ll take me hours to days to puzzle through the information that a couple of minutes of talking would give.” He motioned for her to be seated, giving her a glass of water to calm down first.

Only after a good ten minutes was she able to calm down enough to begin talking, “I’m a princess of the Trotak Kingdom, ruled by the Titans. I’m sure you already know of this fact.”

“About you being a Titan…yes.” Regriel nodded.

“Then…” Her eyes widened in shock as she couldn’t help but ask, “Gehera…aren’t you wondering how she’s born?”

Tehela almost pulled her hair in vexation, “I’ve been trying to think about it all along, but couldn’t make sense of it. It’s impossible for those from different races to mate with each other. Even the Goblins only produce Goblins despite mating with other races.”

“And, Gehera is a human child, through and through.” Tehela said in worry, looking at him, laughing wryly upon seeing that he was calm, “So, you’re aware of the reason.”

“Yes,” Regriel nodded, watching Tehela almost become mad in frustration for having bottled everything up for so long, calming her down as he said, “For, I am the reason she’s able to be born in the first place.”

“Haha, that makes sense.” Eventually, Tehela accepted it, for she had no other choice. She then recalled what she had originally been about, saying, “When I was walking towards the market, I chanced upon two Hobgoblins conversing with one another. And, their conversation was what flustered me.”

She took in deep breaths, trying her best to calm down before conveying the information she had heard, “The Goblin Lords had been performing a Shamanic Ritual to figure out the status of the Shaman King and managed to complete it just recently.”

“And, they found out that the Shaman King was dead, which is absurd!” She hollered in the end, “If the Shaman King is dead, how the heck haven’t they reverted back to being Goblins?”
