I Hate Systems

Chapter 630.2: The Fourth, Most Important Condition

Chapter 630.2: The Fourth, Most Important Condition

“That’s where you’re wrong about something. Or at least, you’re partially right.” Slayer commended, nodding at Aronaut, “Compass Carburettor was indeed no different in comparison to other System Hosts, but his System was special.”

“What?” This time, everyone was confused.

“It was the Money-Making System, a Hatchling System at level 7.” Faluda couldn’t help but comment, “I’ve chased after it and even fought against it in the System World. It’s nothing special.”

“The Money-Making System wasn’t originally a monetary System,” Slayer said, shocking Faluda.

“Yes,” Upon seeing the other party’s eyes widen in shock, he nodded, “It was part of a different Genre first. It then chanced upon the Money-Making System and devoured it. Following that, it sold its original Core Skill and gradually assimilated with the new Core Skill it had devoured, turning into the Money-Making System.”

“When it had done this, it wasn’t in the System World but a different world.” Slayer said, staring at Aronaut, “So, you must have an idea of what happened next.”

“Since it defied its original fate, and while in a Host, a Main Character System fragment appeared…” Aronaut spoke.

“You’re right,” Slayer nodded, “A Main Character System fragment indeed appeared in the Host’s body. And when it devoured that Host, it absorbed that Main Character System fragment, unaware.”

“Do you know why a System never tries to make a System Slayer its Host, even though they are perfectly capable of doing so?” He asked next, watching Aronaut shake his head.

Smirking in response, Slayer said, “Doing so would seal their Core Skill, not to mention suppress all natural talents of their Hosts. This means that they would have to heavily invest in their Hosts to prevent their deaths, which would result in a loss.”

“So, the Money-Making System began to look for heavily talented individuals that were innately perfect for Systems to make a Host out of. It found many Hosts, but none of them managed to remain alive as all their natural talents had been suppressed.” Slayer shook his head, “Even with it actively helping them, they still ended up dying prematurely.”

“This happened until it found Compass Carburettor, a decent genius with a terrifying affinity towards Systems.” He said, watching the eyes of everyone light up in response as he nodded, “Yes, all of Compass Carburettor’s talents had been suppressed by the Main Character System fragment that fused into the Money-Making System.”

“This was why once he became a System Slayer, his growth skyrocketed, turning him into the Main Character before he even became a True System Slayer or reached level 1.” Slayer said in all seriousness, “And that’s his actual capability.”

“Even without a System, Compass Carburettor would eventually have bloomed into a terrifying individual capable of affecting his world. The Money-Making System just found him before his natural talents bloomed.”

“Then, what’s the final condition?” Aronaut asked, feeling that Slayer was diverting his attention to another topic. His original question had been about something else entirely, and not about Compass Carburettor.

“The final condition is pretty simple, but the most important. Even if you qualify the other three conditions, this fourth condition can overrule everything. Sometimes, even without any qualifications, if the fourth condition is satisfied, you can still become the Main Character,” Slayer said, “And that’s simple.”

He stared at everyone, stating monotonously, “Your story must be interesting.”

“Interesting? To what? To whom?” Aronaut asked.

“To the Main Character System, of course,” Slayer said as a matter of fact.

“But, the Main Character System doesn’t have a mind of its own…” Aronaut said, flinching when he saw Slayer explode with a suffocating pressure once again, expressing his dense killing intent.

“Who the fuck said that?” Slayer stated in anger, “Yes, that was how it originally was. But, it changed with the appearance of Arnark!”

Arnark was the first Main Character, Slayer’s disciple. And at the thought, Slayer seemed to have lost control over his emotions, despite maintaining his cool when they discussed about Arnark just before—when Stencil requested Aronaut for a Pseudo-Relic related to the Demons, from the Principal Arbiter profession.

“Arnark obtained 9999 fragments of the Main Character System, just one short of becoming the Main Character System itself.” Slayer quickly controlled his anger, saying, “But, except for that one fragment, the remaining 9999 fragments are actually him.”

“Yes,” Slayer nodded, “He’s still alive as the Main Character System. Unless the Main Character surpasses him in strength, he would continue to live on.”

“And, the one he takes interest in becomes the next Main Character.” Slayer grunted, ‘And every damn Main Character interferes with my plans, time after time!’

The sole Main Character System fragment that wasn’t under Arnark was with Slayer. And shockingly, Slayer had maintained only one Personal Fragment using the sole Main Character System fragment that he possessed since day 1.

Only the other five peak System Slayers with him possessed multiple fragments of the Main Character System.

‘That means, my Personal Fragments can fall out of my control at any moment should Arnark see fit?’ Aronaut thought as such, eyes widening in shock as he stared at Slayer.

“Yes,” Slayer nodded, “When I said I convinced the other five, I meant to seal their Personal Fragments to prevent Arnark from taking revenge upon me.”

“Unfortunately,” He then said, staring at Aronaut, “When Compass Carburettor appeared here, the Personal Fragments of everyone hummed in response, including yours, displaying that you’re on his side. Arnark has already decided on your fate to support Compass Carburettor.”

“It makes it impossible for me to seal them any longer. And hence,” Slayer said, transforming into a Demon as the powers of a Principal Arbiter oozed out, having reached the peak of the world, “You’re an enemy, Aronaut.”

“And that includes all of you!” His eyes swept over everyone else, “Since I can’t bring you over to my side, you’ll have to die here. I’ll extract your Personal Fragments and seal them.”

“Arnark won’t be able to interfere with my plans after that.” Saying so, Slayer leapt onto the crowd of System Slayers, exchanging blows with Aronaut as vast swathes of Mental Energy were expended constantly, unleashing terrifying attacks that began to shave away the immunity both System Slayers possessed.
