I Hate Systems

Chapter 673: One Board, Multiple Players

Chapter 673: One Board, Multiple Players

“W-What the…? How is this possible?” Saint Calvos muttered in shock, noticing that he was brought back to the Burnak Kingdom, currently constricted alongside Saint Balvador. He stared at the figure of Boznan Burnak before him, “How is this possible?”

“You cannot unleash such a power while being a Saint.”

“I might be a mere Saint…” Boznan Burnak muttered slowly, “But, I’ve managed to communicate with the Witch Apostle.”

“Impossible!” Both the Saints shouted in shock, for the Witch Apostle was something of a legend. They had only heard about the other party and even after becoming a Saint, they had yet to make contact.

But, the fact that Boznan Burnak made contact was startling, to say the least.

Who was the Witch Apostle? It was someone that surpassed a Saint and became the sole entity to have control and govern the Witch profession itself. They were pretty much the representative of their respective profession, possessing power enough to wipe out an Empire with the flick of their hand.

In comparison to Systems, they were on par with Grade 2 Systems. They were that terrifying.

And throughout history, the Apostles of any profession never changed. It just went on to show their sheer power.

Against such an entity, even a Saint didn’t amount to much. So, even Saints never chanced upon an Apostle.

But, Boznan Burnak managed to contact the Witch Apostle?

This was what terrified them, realising the means used to bring them out of the Talon Secret Organisation and now placed helplessly here. After all, they weren’t able to use their Witch powers any longer, for it seemed the profession had temporarily blacklisted them.

“It took me a few centuries of nonstop meditation to finally gain an audience with the Witch Apostle. But, it was worth it.” Boznan Burnak said, “Thanks to that, I’ve managed to be reborn and protect my Kingdom better.”

He then glared at the two, snapping his finger as he commanded his subordinate, Bilfuren, “Didn’t the Queen give birth to a pair of twins recently? Bring them to me now.”

“As you say, my Lord.” Bilfuren bowed in response before flying out in a hurry, returning after an hour with two babies in tow, presenting them to Boznan Burnak.

“Place them in the hands of each.” Boznan Burnak pointed at the two Saints in whose hands the twins were each placed.

“What…are you doing?” Saint Calvos frowned solemnly.

“A heavenly being’s blessings.” Boznan Burnak smirked in response, “Since the two of you have betrayed my Kingdom, I need to look for replacements, right? These two would do that with the help of your respective blessings.”

“You’re committing a grave mistake.” Saint Balvador stated, calming down as he continued, “Our blessings would only help them until the Pseudo-Saint Realm. Beyond that, they’ll have to rely on their efforts alone.”

“Besides, you should understand the powers of the Plague Doctor profession.” Saint Calvos interjected, expressing fury as he said, “This is the only way we Birdmen can stand atop the other races.”

“I’ve talked about it with the Witch Apostle.” Boznan Burnak spoke only after hearing everything the two Saints had to rant about, shocking them, “I’ve been informed that progression regarding the Plague Doctor profession’s creation is underway already. But,”

He then expressed his stance on the matter, “It won’t be done through the Talon Secret Organisation. The Plague Doctor being created by the Slayers is entirely different from the Plague Doctor we’re making.”

“If it’s only the profession you seek, then return to our side. With the Witch Apostle on our side, it’s only a matter of time before we attain it.” He continued to speak when suddenly, the two Saints began to laugh.

After all, appearing behind him was Warl, his expression calm as he lashed out, sending Boznan Burnak flying as the sounds of hundreds of mirrors shattering resounded.

Warl snapped his finger, freeing the two Saints as he said, “We’ve wasted enough time already. Let’s go.”

“Thank you for saving us, executive Warl.” Saint Calvos bowed in response as their figures vanished immediately after.

“Gah!” Boznan Burnak coughed out blood, staring at his corroding shoulders that had suffered a hit from Warl, “Damn monster! He’s strong!”

He then created a straw doll resembling him, seeping his mana into it as slowly, the straw doll’s shoulder began to corrode while the injury on his shoulder gradually vanished.

Eventually, the straw doll was entirely corroded while Boznan Burnak freed himself from its effects, staring at his damaged body as he riled up his mana and began to heal himself using his Doctor power.

“My L-Lord!” Bilfuren only managed to react now as he rushed towards him to help him.

Boznan Burnak raised his hand, motioning that he was fine, “It seems I’ve underestimated this organisation. I thought things would end once the Witch Apostle took action.”

He sighed, shaking his head to realise only now that the one addressed by Saint Calvos as an executive was an Apostle too. And, he wasn’t a mere Apostle, but one for the Divinity Incarnate and Destruction Incarnate professions.

He was an Apostle of two professions, terrifying even among Apostles. Against such an opponent, resistance was futile.

Though, it seemed the other party wasn’t keen on taking his life, the only reason Boznan Burnak was alive at the moment.

Sighing, he cupped his hands into a pose for prayer, riling up his profession as he uttered, “Apostle, things have become tricky. What should I do?”

“Play along…for now.” A voice resounded all of a sudden as Boznan Burnak bowed in response, intending to follow the orders. After all, the voice originated from the Witch Apostle.

Warl arrived at the Talon Secret Organisation and dropped the two Birdmen Saints there, “Continue with your work.”

He disappeared immediately after, appearing in the dimension created by Slayer, noticing that time seemed to have slowed down to a halt while two figures battled, unleashing earth-shattering attacks.

This time, Slayer’s attacks were many times more powerful than what he unleashed onto Aeronaut. After all, his foe was one of the primary reasons the Systems became what they were today, having contributed to their development immensely, an entity that once went by the title of…

Saint of Calamity!
