I Hate Systems

Chapter 719: Essence of Being a Merchant

Chapter 719: Essence of Being a Merchant

At the end of his three years of being sealed in this world, right before he left the world, there was an instant where he would be present in this world while being fully unsealed. That was the window Compass Carburettor was waiting for to turn his Dreamland into a Bullet Template.

Moreover, his end goal was to steal Conjurer’s power and turn that into a Bullet Template too. The other party was pretty special in that he attempted to create an entire genre on his own, developing many worlds for ages.

Slayer’s Bullet Template allowed him to create Systems. So, Compass Carburettor was rather curious to see what Conjurer’s Bullet Template entailed. Unlike other entities like Truck-Kun or Immortal which were beings manifested by the collective consciousness of all the worlds forming a genre, Conjurer was a Demon that had become strong enough to create his own genre.

Meaning, he had a mind of his own and wasn’t operated by a potent collective consciousness like the others. This meant that Compass Carburettor could form a Bullet Template using his Mental Energy.

And for that to happen, there was a simple method. It was what the Systems had been doing all along: Steal the powers of the world.

The Forbidden Tale was in an effort to do that. The created Main Character System fragments would increase in number until they appear in Conjurer’s body, occupying part of it. Unless he wished to be dominated by it, Conjurer would have no other choice but to eject that infected part, the same fate experienced by Immortal millions of times now.

This ejected part was his goal as by absorbing it, not only would his Main Character System be strengthened, but the part of Conjurer accompanying it would be made into a Bullet Template.

And depending on how he played the scenario, Compass Carburettor would be able to steal the most valuable Mental Energy from Conjurer.

But before that, he had to first reach the peak of this world’s power system. And for that to happen, he needed to use his advantage to the limit and wholeheartedly create enough cheats.

First on the list was his very own Ascender Scroll, which was what he was doing now. As he couldn’t extract specific types within Mental Fragments, he went with the particle approach, using his advantages as a Human Invoked Spirit to the limit.

Multiple spheres—Mental Fragments of sleep—had been created now, with each successively purer than their predecessor. Over time, the refinement attained a hundred percent purity.

Though, it took two days for this to happen, the only reason being his low Mental Strength which was expended part way. At least, the training was pretty solid, gradually reinforcing his Mental Strength.

On the morning of the third day, Compass Carburettor woke up, feeling refreshed as his Mental Strength had recovered to a decent extent, allowing him to work on the task. For an entire week, all he did was grind the Mental Fragments and collect the purest of each in small packets.

On one corner of the Dreamland was a shelf he created on which there was a pure sphere for all sorts of thoughts, emotions, wills, and feelings. Basically, for anything he might require, he had begun creating a hundred percent pure sphere.

This way, it was easy for him to collect them in the future. A week went by in a flash as the ship banked along the shores of an island spanning a radius of thirty kilometres.

There was a freshwater lake in its centre, large enough to accommodate the migratory birds—eagles.

The eagles reared by the Lan Clan laid their eggs here before returning to the Lan Clan once their task was done. A tenth of the eagles that had grown old and weary remained behind to take care of the eggs while the rest returned.

Once the eggs hatched, these elderly eagles cared for them until they grew enough to fly to the Lan Clan on their own.

This wasn’t how these eagles were originally. But, they had been modified to behave in such a manner by the first generation Lan Clan Head. The lifeline of the Lan Clan was the eagles they reared.

And the Mental Fragments generated by them were completely dependent on their way of life. So, the first-generation Lan Clan Head had modified and trained them to behave in a certain form to ensure the Mental Fragments they nurtured suited his ideals the best.

Pretty much every established Clan did the same.

Kieee!

The elderly eagles on the island—left behind during the previous migration season—took off to the skies, circling above the ship, intending to attack them. After all, it was in their nature to destroy all invaders.

“Is this where you wanted to live until you became an Ascender?” Duketace eyed his daughter, wiping his sweat as he stared at the thousands of eagles, “Not even our bones would remain behind if they attack us.”

“It’s fine,” Kowla didn’t seem bothered by the fact, having prepared for this from the start as she brought out her Invoked Spirit, causing it to fly to the skies.

Her eagle entered the circle of eagles, disturbing their workflow as they all converged upon it. But a few seconds later, all the elderly eagles recognised her Invoked Spirit as their leader, surprisingly following after it.

“That’s…possible?” Duketace was surprised.

“I’ve been working on this for the past three years.” Kowla said with a hint of pride, “Of course, it’s possible for me. I derived this method after seeing the successor in the Clan control them.”

What she was unaware of was the fact that the successor was actually the Lan Clan Head that had taken over the body of the most talented child from the younger generation.

“You derived this method on your own?” Duketace was shocked, ‘My daughter’s talent runs this strong?’

He knew that his daughter had a small chance of becoming an Ascender. But even he didn’t know of all the talents she had. As expected, Kowla had concealed herself from her own family.

In contrast to Duketace’s expression, Compass Carburettor smiled contently, ‘Of course, this is why I didn’t harm any of you. In the original timeline, all of you would become formidable foes that would hinder Pilkan’s path to greatness, casting deep shadows in his mental self.’

Though, with Compass Carburettor helming the plot, he casually took charge of things, turning future terrifying enemies into subordinates instead. Spinning things to one’s advantage was the essence of being a merchant.
