Chapter 721: New Frontier
Chapter 721: New Frontier
“You want us to…sell these?” Kowla stared at the four Forbidden Tales before her, noticing her breaths heat up in response. She was finding it hard to keep her desire in check.
Only then did she notice that her dad was rather calm. In fact, he was more focused on the task than on the Forbidden Tales themselves, making her wonder in shock, ‘When did he change so much?’
The reason Duketace didn’t lose his cool was simple. He had tasted the benefits of working under Compass Carburettor. Normally, something on the level of the Forbidden Tale would be protected with the utmost care.
But Compass Carburettor could not only create it casually but also give them away for free. That was a direct indication of the superior plans that he was plotting, not to mention the grand goal for which he was doing all this.
Therefore, Duketace had long since submitted wholeheartedly to Pilkan.
“Your dad will inform you of the rest. You only need to follow what he says.” Compass Carburettor said before bringing out thumb-sized eggs, placing more than a hundred of them on the ground.
“What are these, my Lord?” Duketace asked, wondering as he picked one egg.
“It’s a bomb.” Compass Carburettor said casually, observing their confusion as he smirked, “Crush one and see what happens.”
Duketace applied a bit of force on one, watching it crack as instantly, mist gushed out of it in torrents, filling up the entire Captain’s cabin.
“Isn’t this…?” Kowla was stunned to see the same mist that had resulted in the Captain and Vice-Captain’s deaths.
A second later, the mist was sucked into Compass Carburettor who then pointed at the eggs, “Each Eagle Egg contains enough mist to cover an entire room. The shells are made using Eagle Mental Fragments, so you can take them with you.”
“These are made using Eagle Mental Fragments?” Kowla was shocked as she focused her Dreamland on one egg, watching it appear within her Dreamland. She was shocked, staring at Pilkan with an incredulous gaze.
Human Invokers were capable of creating tools. Unfortunately, they were only able to create tools out of Mental Fragments sourced from humans. Meaning, only a Human Invoker can use the tools they create.
Of course, Compass Carburettor didn’t have that limitation, capable of absorbing Mental Fragments from all, even though he could only have a Human Invoked Spirit.
So, taking advantage of the properties of both, he created tools using Eagle Mental Fragments to equip both Duketace and Kowla.
Of course, as they were his subordinates who would run errands for him for the next two years, he had to equip them appropriately.
That was the reason they had arrived at this island in the first place, for there were plenty of Eagle Mental Fragments here.
“When you encounter troublesome opponents, shatter one of these Eagle Eggs. That would render their Invoked Spirits immobile for a short duration during which you can escape. As the concentration of mist in each Eagle Egg is limited, it won’t stall strong opponents for long.” Compass Carburettor spoke.
“But my Lord, wouldn’t our Eagle Invoked Spirits too be trapped in the mist?” Duketace said, “Won’t it be impossible to leave in that situation?”
“I’ll solve that problem for you.” Compass Carburettor smiled, showing with a motion of his hand, “Take out your Invoked Spirit.”
“Yes.” Duketace nodded and brought out the metallic eagle.
Compass Carburettor placed his hand on the metallic eagle’s head, feeling it up for a couple of seconds when immediately, a helmet appeared in his hands, one he placed on the metallic eagle’s head, fusing the two.
The eyes of the metallic eagle lit up for a moment as Duketace was able to spot slight traces of mist in its body, too faint to even make out. But it was there now. This faint coating of mist implied that the metallic eagle wouldn’t be stuck within the most anymore.
Compass Carburettor brought out some mist as Duketace made his Invoked Spirit fly through it, surprised when it moved unhindered.
“This is amazing!” Duketace was shocked.
“That’s not all.” Compass Carburettor smiled, pointing at the mini Forbidden Tale in his hand, “Focus your Dreamland on it for a moment.”
“Impossible!” Duketace was shocked to see the mini Forbidden Tale appear within his Dreamland, meaning that it had been created solely using Eagle Mental Fragments.
Compass Carburettor then brought out a couple of swords and shields, named Eagle Sword and Eagle Fan respectively. The Eagle Sword was sharp enough to cut through wood or harm a Superior Invoked Spirit.
The Eagle Fan was as the name implied, a large fan that could act as a shield. They could retract or open it when necessary. And best of all, they could all be kept within their Dreamland.
“Your mini Forbidden Tale would ensure that your Dreamland and Invoked Spirit are always in a harmonious state even when you bring in and out all these tools.” Compass Carburettor said. For an Average Invoker, taking these tools into their Dreamland was a death sentence.
After all, the arrival of the tools would disrupt the harmony of the place. And similarly, when the tools were taken out, the harmony would once again be disrupted. If they were to do it frequently, their Dreamland would indeed collapse.
But thanks to the effects of the Forbidden Tale on them, they needn’t worry.
‘No wonder dad is subservient.’ Kowla finally realised as the last of her inhibition collapsed. She picked up half of the Eagle Eggs, two Eagle Swords, and three of the five Eagle Fans. Their addition sharply raised her strength.
Moreover, Compass Carburettor added a helmet to her Invoked Spirit too, making her eagle immune to the effects of the mist.
“When do we depart, my Lord?” Duketace asked, watching the other party reveal a smile in response.
“Now,” Compass Carburettor waved his hand, “Leave now and return within a month.”
‘Shit!’ Duketace was startled for a moment before taking flight as he carried all four Forbidden Tales, wrapping them up in a jet-black cloth.
Startled for a second, Kowla too followed suit, hurrying after her father before landing on his eagle. It was better to conserve their Mental Strength. And now that he was a Superior Invoker, Duketace was able to travel for long distances.
After sending them off, Compass Carburettor arrived at the deck of the ship, bringing out his Invoked Spirit that cast out a net and hurled out a pile of fishes. The fishes twitched as they died one after another.
Compass Carburettor calmly absorbed their Mental Fragments, continuing with his task. He planned to finish the Ascender Scroll before the father and daughter duo returned.
