I Hate Systems

Chapter 753: I’m Sorry

Chapter 753: I’m Sorry

“Return to me, Domino Plottopia!” Compass Carburettor stared solemnly, trying to recall Domino Plottopia.

Immediately, the human Invoked Spirit exited the Dreamland on its own as suddenly, a mysterious form of energy began to gradually leak out of it.

It was a sign of his true body breaking out of the seal. It had to be noted that the source of the seal was the Lore he had used. And as it was his power, he could annule it. Unfortunately, messing with the cause and effect had their lasting consequences.

But that wasn’t what he noticed at first, hurriedly stopping the action of his true body breaking out of the Invoked Spirit. With that, he stopped himself from summoning Domino Plottopia—he was only able to do that in his true body.

After taking the Invoked Spirit into his Dreamland, Compass Carburettor stared in seriousness at a figure that had appeared a kilometre above him, looking around in confusion.

Conjurer!

Yes, the moment his true body began to emerge, the disturbance in fate, luck, and other mystical phenomenon were already large enough to alert Conjurer, for this was happening in the worlds under his control.

So arriving while chasing after the sudden fluctuations, Conjurer was stunned to see all traces vanish. And shockingly, when he tried to analyse the cause of the disturbance, he failed to understand it.

‘Wait, what is happening?’ Conjurer was confused, ‘How can I not understand what is happening in my own world?’

If this phenomenon had happened a few months ago, then it would have been easier for him to track the changes and analyse it.

But now, without his awareness, part of the world’s strength had already been claimed by Compass Carburettor. He just hadn’t devoured that yet. Moreover, a marine creature had been turned into a proper Invoker that could cultivate, the first of its kind—the fish he turned into an Invoker at first was stuck at the Nascent Soul Stage, unable to develop as Compass Carburettor had used a Human Invoker Crystal on it.

For a deep-sea fish that never surfaced, unless something coincidental happens, it would never encounter humans, kill them, somehow figure out the means to absorb their Mental Fragments and build the Nascent Soul using them to become an Inferior Invoker.

Every other fish was in the same state, having little to zero chance at becoming an Inferior Invoker. And without attaining that level, they weren’t actually tapping into the world’s power system.

It was only the dolphin alone that was different. For when he released it into the sea, Compass Carburettor had already nurtured it into an Inferior Invoker.

And growing in its mind was Compass Carburettor. Therefore, its power too was his for the picking, just as every System did in the various worlds.

This one dolphin alone represented a new domain for the world’s power system to expand upon. And who was in control of that? Compass Carburettor.

And as Conjurer didn’t have control over the dolphin, there was one aspect of his world he wasn’t clear about now, forming a sort of blind spot to him. With the rapid propagation of the Forbidden Sales through the circle of Ascenders, the majority of the strong in this world—continent—were already fallen under his control.

This led to variables that prevented Conjurer from diagnosing the issue in his own world.

Unfortunately, he didn’t even know that something was happening here. After all, in the Lore that Compass Carburettor uttered before Conjurer, he mentioned the term ‘Seal’.

Basically, it meant that for a period of three years, Compass Carburettor would be sealed in one of Conjurer’s worlds after which he would break out and return, which was pretty much what had happened.

And that created a mental suggestion in Conjurer’s mind, one that caused him to gloss over something major.

Yes, Compass Carburettor was indeed sealed, as the Lore indicated. But, the more one knew about a System, the more it grew in their mind until it took over their body too.

That was what happened with Pilkan. A fragment of Compass Carburettor formed in Pilkan’s mind that began to influence his Dreamland and Invoked Spirit more, creating an environment that influenced Pilkan’s mind to subconsciously understand more about the Main Character System.

And with him being the protagonist of this world, he was the perfect person to comprehend it the most, which was why within the span of two days, his mind was fully taken over by Compass Carburettor.

Conjurer had never expected that. Often times, the greatest effect didn’t originate from a potent weapon or ability, but just one word that caused the targeted individual or group to gloss over an entire dictionary of possibilities.

Here, Conjurer didn’t even consider the Main Character System growing in the minds of the people, for he had ensured to never disseminate information about any Systems in his worlds. And that led to his undoing.

At one point, Immortal too didn’t care about Systems encroaching upon his world, casually swatting them like flies. But the Systems, despite suffering a lot of losses repeatedly kept invading his world, stealing tiny fragments of his power every time.

And using that stolen fragments, the System World produced stronger, more developed, and advanced Systems. Rinse and repeat to the present, Immortal became one of the weakest among the group.

From an entity that could casually solo all Grade 3 and Grade 4 Systems combined to one that would struggle against a single Grade 3 System, that was his downfall.

As he was an ally to the Systems, trading resources from start to date, Conjurer never thought a System would grow in his world.

‘Heh!’ Compass Carburettor stared at the figure of Conjurer high up in the sky looking around in a fluster, failing to understand what was happening anymore.

An entity that no living being in this world was capable of seeing was being mockingly watched by one.

And as Compass Carburettor currently embodied Pilkan’s body whose Invoked Spirit was created using a tenth of his soul, within which the actual Compass Carburettor was sealed, Conjurer had zero chances of finding it out.

Conjurer stared around before his eyes fell on Pilkan, noticing his artificial limbs, ‘Limbs created using Mental Fragments? Even if he’s a Human Invoker, they are useless.’

He thought casually upon seeing the limbs remain like dead logs, not moving in the slightest as limbs should. Of course, a Human Invoker was only capable of creating tools that were nonanimated.

He didn’t even spare more than a glance before looking around, disappearing once he was unable to sense any signs of the disturbance anymore.

Once he left, the lifeless limbs of Compass Carburettor came to life, wriggling around like snakes as Compass Carburettor suddenly stood up and moonwalked through the entire island.

Pilkan was a teenager full of hormones. So even he wasn’t able to fully control that, expressing his victory with a small dance step. At times, it was best to express one’s emotions freely, and dancing was indeed a spectacular way at that.

“What…was that?” Sturrala stared in utter confusion, asking only after he stopped, “A ritual?”

“You know…just being smooth.” Compass Carburettor said, returning to the house.

“That was a strange step…” Sturrala muttered, thinking for a moment as she dragged her foot backward, “No, his legs moved gracefully like a fish somehow.”

“Mom, relax your joints mor…” Upon seeing her actions, Kowla revealed herself, showing the action that she imitated, making a mistake by the second step as she placed face first into the ground.

As Compass Carburettor had gone through the entire island doing the moonwalk, pretty much every resident there bore witness to the scene.

Upon knowing that he was the true master of the archipelago, controlling the family of three from behind the scenes, their master, they were fascinated by his every action.

Of course, they imitated the moonwalk, obviously stumbling multiple times. But for some reason, they had fun doing it, or at least practicing to do it, especially among children.

Truth be told, the kids picked it up real quick, for they were going at it for an entire day without rest, unlike the adults who were less energetic and also had work to do.

“Well, it seems fun, so why now?” Compass Carburettor smiled upon seeing the place turn livelier all of a sudden, as if it was a festival.

He neither stopped it nor endorsed it further, aware that by the end of his three years of sealing, things in this world would change immensely. Even he couldn’t predict the course of events that might transpire.

After all, on the day he faces Conjurer, it wouldn’t be just him alone waiting for him there. Considering the relationship Conjurer has with Systems, at least a group of Grade 2 Systems and a minimum of two Grade 3 Systems might be waiting for him there.

It had to be noted that in terms of potential as the Main Character, Compass Carburettor was ranked at the top, above Arnark, the first Main Character. So, no way the Systems would pull their punches.

“In less than three years…” Compass Carburettor muttered, sighing, “There’s a good chance that this world would come to an end, including the worlds dragged into the massive war between me and the Systems.”

He stared at the group of children still practicing their moonwalks even when it was almost night-time, “I’m sorry.”

“For dragging everyone into my personal conflict.”
