Chapter 785: Martial Coward
Chapter 785: Martial Coward
“Why don’t you croak already, Immortal.” A Grade 3 System bellowed in anger, activating its Core Skill as immediately, the energy levels in Immortal began to wane in response.
Grade 3 System—Waning Essence (Level 274)!
This was a System that typically targeted worlds from the cultivation genre, those rich in spiritual energy or other forms of energy suitable for cultivation. And unlike other Systems, Waning Essence gradually weakened that world’s foundation, causing the dominant energy in that world to deplete.
The depletion of resources would cause the inhabitants there to fight more to gain the meagre resources, creating a selfish dynamic of resource accumulation by the strong. And it was in these worlds that it harvested Mental Energy.
“Didn’t dying a hundred times by my hands not teach you a lesson?” Immortal snorted in response and unleashed a sword slash that sparked through the dimensions before slamming into the face of the Waning Essence System, almost cleaving it into two.
But immediately after, a mystical energy wafted into the Waning Essence System and healed it, also causing its energy to spike in response.
Grade 3 System—World Spirit (Level 286)!
After Waning Essence System was done with a world, with its foundation fully destroyed to not even produce a spark of energy, the World Spirit System would target that world next, a few centuries later.
After the world sparked into a technological era after the disappearance of Spiritual Energy—or its other forms—and created a whole new societal order, the World Spirit System would result in Spiritual Energy returning to the world once again.
And with it, the creatures and people in the world would evolve accordingly, creating absolute chaos as everyone with power would embark upon their ambition. Eventually, until the world completely returned to a societal order of cultivation, the World Spirit System would feast on the Mental Energy produced there.
After that, it would leave. A few hundred years later or when the time seemed apt, the Waning Essence System would return to make changes once again.
Any world that relied on a primary energy means to grow beyond its physical limits, such as cultivation and magical worlds were their target.
And hence, Waning Essence System and World Spirit System often clashed with either Magister or Immortal. Though at the start, they were often killed by Immortal. And it seemed that even while weakened, Immortal was still a threat to them.
“Even if he’s been weakened tremendously, his methods are still powerful!” Waning Essence grumbled, changing tracks as it split its Core Skill into hundreds of counterparts, slamming them into Immortal to affect the worlds under him individually.
The abilities coursed through his body, but just when they were about to pour into his worlds, a mysterious energy stopped them. It hadn’t been long, but the moment he gained insight into Stencil’s Coordinate form, Immortal circulated energy into his fragment in her, transforming it into a form affecting the Coordinate before reclaiming that power to face the power of the Waning Essence System.
This was why he was glad to share his power with Stencil as it was a Win-Win situation.
Stencil’s growth would be unstoppable after this, while her growth also symbolises a better future for Immortal. It was not to mention that this one action placed Compass Carburettor in his debt forever and also gained admiration from Hazen.
Though brash, as was the nature of the Cultivation Genre, Immortal still had enough braincells to use when necessary.
“Gehera…” Staring at Immortal’s jaw-dropping fight against the Grade 3 Systems, Compass Carburettor faced Gehera, causing his fingertips to wriggle before producing a strand of hair. He gave it to her, saying, “I stole this while attacking him earlier. This is Arnark’s hair. Use it to steal his power.”
“I’ll save it for later.” Gehera nodded and pocketed the strand of hair, “If I do it now, Arnark would try to kill us too.”
“I’ll leave the decision to you.” Compass Carburettor nodded as he said in praise, “You’ve matured a lot since I last saw you.”
He then stared at the figures of Arnark and Slayer fighting Zaira, “It seems your dad had predicted something was amiss with Slayer and hence created your power that wasn’t dependent on the Main Character System.”
“His foresight is unreal.” He expressed unfiltered praise.
“Thank you for saving me too. I honestly thought you would only save your daughter.” Gehera cupped her fists, trembling a little as her eyes turned moist, “It’s honestly scary to be thrust into such situations without any moral support.”
“Talk later! Gehera, use that power to create a swarm of creatures. The more chaotic the situation gets, the better it is for us.” Stencil said before staring at the figure of Truck-Kun that remained silent all along, “Uncle, can you bring us out of this place?”
Gehera brought out a totem that transformed into a tree whose leaves began to fall, with each morphing into a giant, five-metre-tall insect. The leaves of the tree were quickly consumed to create around a hundred thousand insects.
But a moment later, Stencil placed her hand on the tree, channelling her power through it using her Coordinate as the medium, causing another batch of leaves to sprout on the tree as the size of the swarm continued to increase.
“It’ll be disastrous to us if we leave now.” Truck-Kun said, pointing at Regression, “If I leave this place without neutralising that bastard’s power, you’ll all turn into sperms in an instant before disappearing. Only I will be left alive, since I can shield myself from its power.”
“Can’t your truck shield us?” Stencil asked in return, sighing upon seeing Truck-Kun shake his head.
“Besides,” Truck-Kun stared at the figures of Mascot, Magister, and Martial, focusing a second longer on the expression of Martial that was trembling with panic and fear, “These guys have remained passive for too long. It is time they take a hard stance on this matter.”
“It’s because of Arnark and Slayer that I’ve yet to disappear.” Martial said as his panic worsened, “My worlds are rapidly dwindling from the population loss of its natives. My genre is breaking down and is being assimilated by the cultivation, magic, and technological genres. I’m busy trying to protect myself. So, I cannot go against them, sorry.”
He cupped his fists in apology upon seeing Truck-Kun grit his teeth, “It’s on you, I’m sorry. You’ll have to excuse me.”
Saying so, his figure vanished from the Fantasy World’s universe.
“That freaking coward!” Truck-Kun cursed in anger.
